NSW govt proposing to introduce even more restrictive gambling legislation.

Just found this on the DM site - no corroboration elsewhere but I will continue looking, although it appears very similar to something that was trialled in NZ not that long ago.

"A new draft bill with cross-party support proposes that all slot machine players register for a government-issued card which they can pre-load with money. {... It} would have a trigger in place to restrict problem gamblers. "

I agree that problem gambling is a major social issue, and can cause untold damage to individuals and their families, but this overregulation is removing personal responsibility and choice, and placing us all firmly in the hands of a government trying to interfere with our rights and freedoms, to the point of being dictatorial.
