Novel idea for a slot?!

Hey I was just thinking about ideas for bonus rounds on video slots. It occured to me it would be really cool to have prizes on offer like CDs, DVDs, Weekend breaks, holidays and stuff like that.

So like you still win money (after all, you gotta have something to put back - lol) but certain things come with prizes attached. That way, casinos could change the prizes often to keep people interested or appeal to new players: like running promotions within games.

I looked into doing something like this about a year ago.

The logistics were a nightmare.

The laws about giving 'prizes' are completely contrary in different countries and in different states within the US.

But for a casino it should be pretty straight forward. It's exactly what they do with their promotions now, only with "symbols" in games that trigger prizes.

IGT has a game similar to that, when you get bonus spins if you win xxxx (thousand or more credits) you a piece of diamond jewelry valued at this amount in addition to the credits awarded in free spins... I think there were 3 levels each incrementing at such and such credits, that would be pretty easy for an online casino to manage. Diamond Falls or something along those lines was the name I believe.

So first place will be 20 free spins , 2nd will be 19 free spins all the way to last place which will be one free spin. The multiplyer of the free spins will be 4...

Scatters will be hot chicks waving the checkered flag!

Then if you hit 5 wilds, say they are mustangs, instead of getting cash. You get a mustang.... Or whatever car they are....

That's a great idea. Although, the costs associated with it, ie shipping etc, plus the administration would probably make it more hassle than it is worth.

One thing springs to my mind. Remember the prize promo Casino Profit Share had for affiliates at the end of last year. It took them literally months to mail out the prizes.

I won a 9/11 commemorative (sp?) gold and silver chip at the Gold Coast in Las Vegas. One of those big slots at the entrance... Dropped in ten dollars, hit spin, lined up the reels and out plopped a big heavy chip in a plastic case. I'm sat looking at it on the shelf right now. Dunno what it would be worth if I tried to cash it in, but it was a nice little change from the clunk clunk clunk of silver dollars! (Although EZPay has almost eliminated that forever too)

I actually played this game somewhere - and at first went max bet in order to win the diamonds.

Wasn't hitting anything interesting, so backed off to try and preserve credits - then BOOM - I would have won the 2nd best diamond gift they had.
