No Facebook or Twitter, am I the only one?

This happened yesterday. True story.

Young man at work (around 24) -who I usually credit with having normal intelligence- was storming around like he was ready to tear someone's head off. So I ask him...

me: What's up kiddo? You're carrying around an awfully big storm cloud this morning.

(this is where we enter the facebook version of the Twilight Zone)

him: I just don't know what I'm gonna do. A friend posted on facebook that he thinks my wife is cheating on me.

me: ... and?....

him: I love her but I won't put up with that shit. And what about our kids? (lips quivering) My babies... dear jesus.... I just don't know....

me: I think I'm the queen of England.

him (looking at me as if I'm the crazy one): What? WTF has that got to do with anything?

me: Exactly! People can think anything. They can post that they think anything whether they do or not. Just because someone types something out and puts it on the internet doesn't make it so.

him: ... but....

me: Call your wife, tell her you love her and you're sorry you're an idiot. Leave other people's bullshit out of your relationship with your beautiful family. Now grow a brain and go to work.

Yeah, I've had a few drama queens on Facebook who kick off and take what is posted on there as gospel. There are some real stirrers around. It's a shame but the best thing to do is to ignore them and rise above it. That is what gets the stirrers the most.

Facebook ruining relationships, friendships, careers and your reputation worldwide since 2005. It is as simple as that it is corrupt and evil the only reason I have it is for a free way to contact my exes about how my sons are doing/arrange to see them and to contact friend/family about arrangements. That is it! ;)

Nah you aren't getting old man. Right now I don't have a phone not bothered to get a sim since May and haven't missed it really either! Goes to show you don't NEED one. I don't want everyone having my number either so this is the only plus of facebook you can contact people for free. I don't read all their bs though..Literally logon check messages check news on my footie team logout :p

Do you know what makes me sick on Facebook? Couples who have a joint Facebook account and don't just have their name as "Steve and Jen" they actually think they are Hollywood and call the account "Stennifer". Just an example there by the way!

I tell you what, one or both of those have cheated and there are serious trust issues in that relationship... or they are just ridiculously cheesy!

Another gripe of mine actually davdav5678, and I'm only aware of this because my wife's friends list is packed with Jerry Springer candidates, is when they post something like "that's it, my life is over. What's the point any more?!" and then someone will reply to the status saying "aw, you alright hun?" and the poster says "Yeah, don't wanna talk about it"...

If you don't want to talk about it then why have you posted about it on a social networking page?!!!!

There is things about Facebook that scares me.
Personally I have never played a single game on Facebook, but I have several friends that aren't doing much else. They are addicted to Facebook games and believes that it's perfectly ok since it doesn't cost them any money. One of them called me and asked for advices because she couldn't stop. She wasn't prepared to give them up totally, and now she's playing and we've lost contact. Not much I can do.

But I need Facebook. It's the only way I can stay in touch with my family and friends since I live too far away.
I know how to use it in a safe way, and I believe I'm old enough to not get surprised of what I read or see on there anymore.
There is a lot of good things with Facebook too, don't forget that.

i too have Facebook, and i found it to be a great way to keep in touch with my family as i live in a another country:)
i dont play any games there though, my missus however shes playes candy crush, and other suff in there :)
And looks to me its just a matter of time before you have to like a Casino page just to be able to sign up.
Most of my family and friends know i gamble but not all of them and i like to keep it that way
so im not going to like a Casino on Facebook for some free spins.
im gettin mails like that all the time now, last one today from LuckyDino, like our page put in your email and recivie 5 free spins :D nahhhh

What I did was to create a second account, with the name I have here. No personal stuff at all.
From there I can ''like'' a casino. My biggest problem is to remember to visit. It can go weeks between :p

Interesting you say that because the Facebook games have never appealed to me. I just find that they are piss poor versions of better games that you can pay. Yes, the advantage is you don't have to pay for the Facebook games but my experience of them is that they are all quite rubbish.

You are right though, there is a lot of good on Facebook. Just a shame it gets abused by the minority.
