LOOKING FOR THE BEST IN TOURNAMENT AND PROMO NEWS? TRY OGGS!

Innovative service will help players find the action, and operators tell them about it without losing out to spam filters

Players looking for the latest promos and tournament action have a new and very helpful facility at their fingertips this week in the form of the content rich Oggstore site ( Outdated URL (Invalid)) where a centralised information hub has been assembled.

Starting March 7 2007, OGGStore service offers players and affiliates a centralised archive of gambling operator promotions and news. Operators and affiliate programs are invited to add OGGStore mailing addresses to their mailouts which are then collated centrally and made freely available through the OGGStore website or via email digests to opt-in subscribers.

The service has a handy archive for those who want to re-visit previous promos, and is designed to attract new players and affiliates whilst providing archived information for existing partners and players to access retrospectively.

OGGStore launches with streams for casinos, poker rooms, bingo and sportsbook promotions along with similarly divided affiliate services.

The concept was devised to help counteract the problem of newsletters being passed by or caught in spam filters and to provide a new mechanism for gambling operators to reach a target audience of players and affiliates who are not currently subscribed to their promotional mailings.

Operators participating in the free trial must be recognised by one of three major portals, CAP, GPWA or Casinomeister, prior to being invited into the OGGStore program but once registered, are able to send in unmoderated information relevant to their target audiences.

OGGStore accepts news and promotions from operators in different languages and provides a search function to filter information by target audience or by operator.

I'll try it,

...so long as it wasn't coded by Microgaming:D

Nah I promise it will only take 4 hours to load VMW. Max. As long as your PC is at least 3Ghz with 2 Gig of Ram.

Seriously though, I am also hoping to get a few of the casinos who have signed up so far to send the odd exclusive offer through too :) Plus it could be useful to use as a Poker Tournament tracker as JetSet mentions (that didn't occur to me til I read his article - thanks Jet lol). Oh and note the Focus Groups tab although thats not fully formulated yet.

I think this will work best on my new PC. I don't want to pollute it with anything that might b****r it up, which is why I have been reluctant so far to replicate the problems with All Slots and Royal Vegas on it!

From my experience of the SlotJunkies desktop product, if the OGGS tracker is similar my old PC will struggle to properly handle it and still have enough grunt left to surf the net, let alone update a casino:D

LOL - nothing like it. This is simply a website archive and a once-daily get-every-promo digest (well, it will take time to build) by email...you should be perfectly safe, even on a WAP phone with 1 meg of RAM ;)

OK - I had a look, nearly had a heart attack when I saw Aspinalls at the top. While they have an impeccable B & M record, the contractors who used their brand online left much to be desired. Now that they have gone Microgaming with Vegas Partner Lounge they should develop a reputation to match the brand.

I have signed up for the once a day digest, it may well save me from missing anything. The new tournament feature at Royal Vegas will probably put an end to the slotjunkies tournaments though, I expect that's where the idea came from though - are they paying you royalties to use the idea:D

If the posters here would try this new player facility out and comment it would be a useful exercise imo - help to tweak it should that prove necessary.

Depending on how much online casino and poker room operators (as well as the players for whom it could be a definite asset) use it, I think it has potential as a time-saver and information tool that can take players to places where the promo action is currently at.

As more folks use it, it will logically become more content-rich and useful. For now, it's just starting out and it will be interesting to watch it develop.

Yes, very true... the muppet and I were brainstorming for names a couple of weeks ago and between the two of us we came up with nada that was available ... so I am sure the blue thing would be happy to have as much comment as possible!

In fact why not have a little fun competition to develop a snappy brand name for this interesting player assist?

FindtheAction?

PromoPresenter?

TournamentNews?

TournamentNavigator?

Exactly...it's a grower :) But quite a number of programs have contacted me to have their news and promo addresses added so it's really down to how players and webmasters react.

I'm all ears

Haven't had time to look yet, but will the USA have a seperate section? That'd definitely save alot of time for those that are stuck in the states to sift through offers from casinos that still take USA customers ;)

That's an excellent point, Winbig!

Yes neat idea - I could geo-target I guess so it gets easier as it grows. I'd just need to set up a lookup-table for partners who accept US players. I'll look into it.

Testing

I signed up for the E-mail digest yesterday, and got the impression that an E-mail would first be sent to verify my registration, but so far nothing - either this part is not working, or the verification mails all go out once a day along with the digest to keep things simple.

Yup a verification is sent back immediately. Its working I think because there's a couple more people signed up and I can see them in the database. Not been spam-trapped?

I clicked on the link, which opened up a blank E-mail with "subscribe" in the subject line. I simply sent this as it stood, and it appeared to go. I have not seen any verification link by return, so it looks like the attempt failed. I will have to try it again.

Yup that's right. I ran a test myself after your previous post and it seems to be fine here too.
