Wow!
I'm impressed: obviously that is one of the more innovative slot ideas i have seen in the last years, looks like they put a bit of WMS flavor in it: the part with the big, super big, mega big etc. annotations. And that symbol "teleporter" with what appears to be alternate reels with extra symbols, is an amazing feature.
Can't wait!

I got a demo of Space Wars at ICE in London. I have got to say Net Ent are really going for it with some of the new games. They have a few more in the pipeline that look fantastic and have the stickyness that some of their older titles have lacked.

Looks nice - Really Different. Kudos to NetEnt for the different variations in their games.

I just do not like meaningless animation for small wins - I'm sure you can turn that crap off though :)

I agree with you guys. I think this slot looks very cool cool :D

Release date is April 24 according to our friends over at Nordicbet.

Muse is live March 21. Although not so sure about this game. Did not look too impressive based on the preview video.

Looks cool like all the other Netent slots. But what´s about the payout? Seems to be another low variance slot... No thanks, i prefer those which give me a huge payout (RTG and MG can do it better). Ok, DoA is the one and only at Netent...

Indeed it is - I am playing it right now!

Not doing much for me to be honest, seems to be a lot of smaller wins and very little player interaction - no 'bonus round' to play. Hit a 32x stake for a Mega Win also??! Really!?

All feeling a bit meh to be honest.

It's distinctly mediocre, attracted me at first then just became mind-numbing, sort of like Arsenal.
Definitely low-variance, reminds me of Evolution in some ways with the colours but not as much fun.

Please tell me they don't really class 32x stake as a mega win?

WMS do it:

BIG WIN = 25x stake
SUPER BIG WIN = 100x stake
MEGA BIG WIN = 300x stake

Which seems quite nicely balanced to me.

I've found Netent's output so uninspiring of late I don't even bother to fire their new releases up in free money mode to take a look. Evolution was a great slot but they just lost me with the likes of Elements, Disco Spins and, ummmm, that other one I can't even remember the name of.

Well it turns out Mega Win is the second 'category' if you like. It started Big Win, then Mega Win then I missed a few but I saw 'Super Mega Win' I think when I hit that nice win.

All a bit silly really, WMS have got it right IMO.

Also, although it's not great, it's 100x better than Muse. I agree with you, after Evolution all their releases have been a little underwhelming.

Yes, this gets on my tits. Microgaming give you the gold coins and racket for a mere 15xstake win upwards on slots like IR and TSII. WMS I have to agree have it spot on. On Netent I actually pondered the 'big win' criteria and checked it out on Wild Rockets, and it's the bloody same as MG; 15x stake upwards. When you're a ton down on 30/50p a spin and hear this cacophony for a mere £4.50/£7.50 win it makes me feel like putting my fist through my screen:mad::mad::mad:

Tried this new slot last night and I have to say NetEnt have done it again... another total crock of shite! :(

By far the worst thing about it is that's it's not a "truly random" slot in the way I like mine to be, but some sort of AWP.
When I started out it was OK; every time I got the re-spin feature it was giving me good wins (usually 5-of-a-kinds) and my bank was slowly rising. So I upped my bets (like you do) and it totally died. It was only then that I found out you DON'T always get a win on the re-spins like I did on my first 20 or so, but in fact, it can also pay ZERO :eek2:
It then proceeded to eat though my balance at an alarming rate - going up to 20+ spins at a time with no wins at all, and the wins I did get were pathetic; no Gigantic, Awesome, Huge, Mega-Wins over bet x10, or even close.
I don't know what my RTP was last night - but it couldn't have been over 50%.

Good game play and very pretty to look at, I'll grant you that - but just a money-eating b*tch based on my first few 100 spins.
Now I REALLY wish I'd tried it in "Fun Mode" first...

Why does any of that mean it's not truly random?

You won on small bets, then lost on larger bets, but it's a bit of a leap from there to say it's not therefore random and like an AWP.

Had a few spins on the Slot...

Firstly - Caution to those who like to rough out a few high bets inbetween a relatively stable betting pattern. The Slot CONSTANTLY dishes out between 10 - 30 BLANK Spins. 2 or 3 Hits then another DRY spell. The pattern is obvious...

I can see where the big hits come from. They have reduced the meaningless small pays significantly on this Slot.

I Started on $100 betting $0.80c a spin and went about 200 spins - about 150 of them paid ZERO. I did however hit a Super Ueber Mega Stupid Big Win :p - Paid about $280 off an $0.80c bet. From the start... I went up to about $114 then straight down to about $40 then up to $315 odd.

I like the smoothness in game play and the re-spin feature. I do not like the Big Win thing for every space alien and his dog over 10x bet.

Seems OK to me. Reminds me of Starburst. Large bets on a dry spell are not sustainable here - Although you never know when you will get lucky :) - A better Slot than THIEF and Muse.

My randomness comment has NOTHING to do with changing bet size.

What I'm talking about is the way the reels spin. As you know from other recent threads, I believe the majority of slots (most on MG for example) use true reels strips and you have an exactly equal chance of hitting any symbol on any of the reels when they spin. e.g. Knowing the reel-strip layouts, you can calculate the chances of any particular combination occurring, such as hitting the bonus round or jackpot.
This is what I (that's ME, MYSELF and I ) call "truly random".

Other slots work differently, such as weighted slots, "bingo slots" and AWPs. Still random, but in a different way.

On Space Wars for example, the re-spin is obviously not a "truly random" spin, because you ALWAYS get the symbol which triggered it on at least reels 1 & 2. OK, I know it uses different "reel strips", but even so it's obvious (to me) that it's not "truly random"

Oh look, another "slot" filled with animations, theatrical music and other distractions to trick you into believing that you actually win when you don't. God I dislike this new trend. It's not a slot, it's a game.

When will you release new video slots, Netent? It's been a while now.

FTR, anything under 50x isn't a "big win". A 15x "big win" is a slap in the face (and MGS is guilty of that too).

In all fairness Balth if you turn all the animations off and put it into quick spin mode, it's far more of a 'slot' than a 'game'.

Doesn't fix the ridiculous BIG WIN, MEGA WIN and SUPER MEGA WIN thresholds though, admittedly.

Fair enough KK but TBH I think it's disingenuous to say the slot isn't 'truly random' just because the reels don't work the way you expect them to.

As long as the RNG behind the scenes picks a random result from a 'full table of possible results', as it were, everything else is just eye candy and it matters not a jot how the reels are constructed/presented.

I disagree that it doesn't matter.
With my "true random" slots (BTW, if you can think of better word(s) to describe what I mean I'd be happy to use them!) the RTP can ONLY be changed by altering the reel-strips or the paytable.
With other types of slot the RTP could be changed by a simple adjustment of a % setting in the back-end (like on UK pub fruit machines).
I'm not saying any online operators DO tweak their RTPs willy-nilly, but they could... and if they did it would be as good as impossible for players to detect it.
Changes to the reel-strips and paytable are FAR more likely to be noticed (e.g. Fruit Frenzy)
