Hello I am Bear in San Antonio Texas. I prefer live poker but have been playing on line. I have doubts that a computer has the capacity to be random in its shuffle and welcome any information on this. I would like to know if anyone has a way to check if a sites computer software is ramdom or not. Thanks for your time,

Bear

Welcome Bear!

Your question about randomness has been hashed and rehashed here, I would suggest you use the search feature here in the forum as there are many threads and a lot of different opinions about this. There are even a couple of resident experts on this issue that hangout around here.

As far as checking on randomness, there are a couple of business (TST tstglobal.com ) comes to mind that do certify online games. However the poker room/casino must first hire them and cooperate in the audit.

Let me ask you what online poker room are you concerned with. Not all Online Poker Rooms are created equal... a couple have actually been caught red handed cheating (Absolute/ UltimateBet). Then there are the rooms that defy the odds (Dolye's Room) but have not been caught cheating...yet.

Having said that... There are some good Poker Rooms out there.

The good thing is... You did come to the right place to find out which is which.

Welcome to the forum Bear, IMO.."True Randomness" is only capable of being as random as the programmer (human) that designed the particular RNG that the program runs off of intended it to be.
