hi all,
this morning i logged into my netspend account, and saw that i needed to call customer service.
well, i called, i was told that my account was blocked because of " at risk because of online gambling."
however, no questions were asked if it was true or not, and the rep. unblocked it.
has anyone else ever had this happen??
i want to use it again, but am unsure if i will only cause myself grief!!
any comments or advice would be appreciated.

If I was you I would not use it again. They might block it again and there may be funds in your account, it sounds like a risk to me

Yes this has happened before, somewhere in these threads. Maybe type in Netspend in the search bar at top of page to the right. I think some people had questions asked, and not sure if their card was re-opened?

Like Mimi said, they could block it again, and then I think they mail your funds to you, which take up to 30 days? If I remember correctly.

The same thing happened to me last week. The lady I talked to said that gambling transactions weren't allowed. I just said I wasn't aware. She said she would unblock my account but if I made any more foreign gambling transactions my card would be closed. I think they are cracking down. I have two different netspend cards. I decided to use my other card at All Star Slots today and it wouldn't go through when I tried to deposit. I've used the same card in the past with no problems.

Did the same thing to me this week and I have had my card for over a year. They said being closed because of online gambling, I said I disagree with you, but fine, I am sick of you blocking my card whenever you "think" something is happening. Mail me my check today and I will find another company to do business with.
Don't know who at this moment, because from what I am hearing, it is VISA who is doing the checking and threatening to withdraw from any companies who allow foreign transactions from US citizens to processors who are based overseas. So it is where the processor is that determines if the bank will allow the transaction and no one with VISA is allowed to let US citizens do international transactions. It doesn't matter if they are for gambling or not. I am still waiting for a verification that I can use my account with paypal and it will not be considered an international transaction.
So IMHO, soon there will be no way for U.S. citizens to make any kind of international transaction. So much for our "global economy". lol I guess only companies are allowed to make foreign transactions, maybe someone should try a business card and see how that works.LOl

The first time, they unblocked it, the 2nd time they closed my account with funds on it. No matter what I said.......they would not reopen it.

Did you try going and just getting a new card? I wondered if that would work, or if they would block that one too.

I tried to deposit using my "spare" netspend card yesterday. Both of my netspend accounts are open and I can use them for other charges, but the other netspend card(the one I hadn't already gotten a warning about using for gambling) would not go through for a casino deposit. It looks like the one successful way I had to deposit is now gone also. What other prepaid cards are currently working for others from here in the US to make deposits? I usually only play at the Club World Group RTG casinos: All Star Slots, Aladdins Gold, Lucky Red are the three I mostly go to. If anyone has a prepaid card that's working, please let me know what kind it is.

If you're able to get out and about, check gas stations, quick stops, and truck stops for prepaid cards that allow international use.

The banks and Feds are funneling us down to almost nothing that will work. (I have a picture in my head of sheep herded thru the chute for shearing LOL) I've just about quit playing because it's such a hassle.

Good luck.

bummer

well, thanks for all the feedback ....
I do still have ezvoucher as an outlet using paypal
guess I will not try netspend, since trying to deposit will be denied. Does anyone ever use walmart visa?? and if u do, can u also get cashout back to the card??
another thought on netspend, what if u used a virtual card, might that get by for a deposit??? anyone tried that???
oh well CWC group has been beating me up anyway lol:)

Whats with CWC group? Their sites are so damn tight that I have stopped depositing with them. This has been going on since November. Pretty Soon there wont be any accredited casinos left to play at if all this tightness keeps up!

i,ve never had any promble with my netspend. used it last week no promble went right thought and never got a call asking what i was useing it for.

i also have anoughter one from one of the stores here never ever have prombles with that one eather.

the only time i had prombles with netspend is when i won and lucky red sent it back to them they locked my account and told me that they would,nt reopen it

after about 10 mins and alot of cuss words later i hung up and my account was already unlocked.

never had prombles since (knock on wood) and i asked lucky red never to do that again caz i had asked them to send it to anoughter card and they did,nt.

Just completed my federal income taxes, and one of the options for receipt of your refund is via a netspend prepaid card. Makes sense now, the crackdown on the gambling transactions.
