Got a call from Netspend this week informing me that if I used my card for online gamblng anymore that they were going to close my account.

Took me by surprise but I neither affirmed or denied but I did ask them which transactions they were talking about. I was told it was VestPay charges that were the ones they were refering too.

VestPay is PasteandPay or EZVoucher on the casino cashier. They didn't care about the online books, clothing, bicycles etc. just the ones tagged VestPay.

So here's a heads up. Might not want to use your Netspend card at PasteandPay.

Thanks for the heads up anniemac. Can't you use paste and pay for other things? I would have argued that you're buying a voucher for online shopping. Freaking USA

Yes, Kotsyl, I discussed that with them but they were adamant that I had used it for online gambling.

Guess they haven't wondered about the 'onlineprivateteacher' I just purchased services from. LOL!

Netspend caught on about a month ago. Just about everyone at 3Dice has got their Netspend closed from paste and pay, mypaylinq and pcgames. Thank goodness we all have backup cards LOL.

I just looked at my netspend online and my last 7-10 or so charges were from VestPay and I only played at Club World, I have never used PasteandPay yet? I haven't received a call from Netspend yet, and all those transactions went through fine? The earlier charges weren't Vestpay from Club World, they were something else?

It brings me great pleasure to cut up my Netspend card and cancel the account

Over the three plus years I estimate I have thrown away between $2,000 and $3,000 in fees to Netspend.

In early 2008, I received a Netspend card in the mail with my name already embossed on the card. I had never heard of them. I opened it up and read over the agreement and sales pitch. I

I am confident they obtained my address information from some online casino. At that time I had been on an online gaming hiatus since mid 2006. The brochure did not specifically state "Use this card to gamble online" but it might as well have. Verbiage like, use your card for online purchases all over the world, how and when you want to--anywhere Visa is accepted.

I placed it in a drawer and left it there for over a year but the seed was planted and I knew I had an easy method to deposit should I want to start playing online again.

Obviously, the volume and dollar amount of gaming related transactions are the most lucrative part of their business. The only time they have ever restricted usage over the years is when, I believe, regulators (on the take perhaps) have threatened to make waves for them (or Metabank) over this business.

A few weeks ago, I used my card for Paste and Pay and that also rendered it useless but I am glad. Their service is non-existent and the fees are highway robbery.

Fortunately, the prepaid card business has really caught on and there are other players now offering a much better product. Specifically, the largest retailer in the world teaming up with Amex. There are virtually NO fees and hopefully there International transactions will continue to be accepted.

Just don't spread the word too much. We don't want to spoil a good thing.
