    It looks like we are going to see some tougher times for casinos and punters in the Netherlands starting tomorrow. This news was released just a couple of days ago with very little notice for operators to respond. That it is in violation with EU-law is quite obvious so let's see what happens.

    You must register/login in order to see the link.

    In short:

    - Websites should not load from Dutch locations (geo-blocking);
    - Websites are not allowed use Dutch payment providers and or providers that are mainly being used by Dutch residents(iDeal);
    - Operators may not refer to (apparently) typical Dutch symbols such as wooden shoes and windmills;
    - Kansspelautoriteit will also target affiliates;

    - Operators may not use .nl extensions;
    - Operations may not be advertised in Dutch language and/or via Dutch media;
    - Websites cannot offer Dutch language;

    This has been coming a while now, I've been getting affy newsletters in the last few weeks concerning Holland and not advertising for their players. Still, I'm sure NaffShower will still take their players. :rolleyes:

    I was just about to post that Klaver Casino (edit: no .nl extension but .com) is closing its doors on 1 June due to these amendments. They wrote in their email that they may (perhaps?) come back after the Dutch gambling market is regulated. A legislative proposal to that end is being discussed in parliament.

    Should I worry, should I contact my current favourites Videoslots & Vera&John about this?

    God***! I hate to think that I would be compelled to play at Holland Casino with its average 91-92% RTP slots.:eek:

    Yeah go go Dutchies.
    The Holland Casino's are utter shite.

    But that's how they do things over there.

    Holland Casino want to keep their monopoly on the market.
    Same as with De Lotto (Dutch organiser for all lottery and sportbetting games). They never wanted the Euromillions to be sold in The Netherlands because they were affraid losing to many players to that lottery.

    As we Dutch say,stelletje muggezifters!! :D

    V&J CSR don't know but someone will get back to me, CSR at Videoslots say they know nothing of this either and will get back to me too. The problem is this dark, uncertain period before the regulation of the Dutch gambling market, why adjust the policy of the Dutch Gambling Authority prior to that? Geez.:rolleyes:

    I shoudn't be to worried. This is so much in violation with EU-law and I don't think that Dutch Gambling Authority(Kansspelautoriteit) stand a chance defending this. From what I have been told it is a political stand still when it comes to the new regulation that has been proposed, and that might be the reason that Kansspelautoriteit is reacting in this way.

    Let's see if they try to go after Kroon, Oranje or any other big NL facing casino. Kansspelautoriteit might actually try to do this because if the EU says that this is in violation with EU law, the politicians in NL will be forced to come up with a new regulation. This is of course just speculation though.

    Thanks Matti (the Swedish voice of reason:D). You're making me feel a little better:)

    I also read, though, that the Authority will investigate payment services that facilitate online gaming (I have a Neteller card) - that is of course to counter tax-free winnings. Well, let's just wait and see what the new Gambling Regulation Act (or whatever it will be called) entails.

    i'n my opinion we shouldn't need to worry,
    the fact the closed polder,fortuin,klaver is based on the fact they sended out dutch newsletters, and also providing dutch language on there website,
    casino's like videoslots or guts or whatever, i'm 99% sure it wont be closed for us, otherwise we can buy bitcoins and play with that hehe:)

    Hi Nelsnik,

    I would like to respond to your comment regarding closure of Polder, Fortuin and Klaver. The reason for us to decide to close down these casinos is not because we were sending out Dutch newsletters or providing the site in the Dutch language.

    We have launched these casinos specifically for the Dutch market. That is not only shown in the name but also in the look and feel of the products. The added criteria by the KSA in regards the their enforcement framework are specifically targetted at these three casinos.

    We are running a long term operation where, in the future, we do want to continue operating in a regulated Dutch market with a license to offer remote gambling. For the short terms we don't want to jeopordize our long term vision and therefore we have decided to close down the casinos as per the 1st of June 2017.

    Kind regards,

    Jan
