I yesterday, needed to urgently get 2000 into a sportsbook account but dont like them having my Debit Card Details.
I bit the bullet and it was worth to pay 78 to Neteller (3.9%) for them to have it so I attempted to deposit 2000 via my debit card. There was plenty of funds in the bank account.
Nearly fell off my chair when It came back as declined. This is my main betting account and the bank is used to high volume transactions. So I went straight to my account and my "Available Balance" had gone down by 2078.
Just to explain, my bank shows 2 balance Actual Balance and Available Balance. If I Had a Actual Balance of 1000 then made a debit card payment of 200, my Actual Balance would be 1000 but available would be 800.
I immediatley telephoned my bank and they said is it an internet site, I said yes, and they said they need to complete a telephone Authorisation with them. This was starting to become a pain so while on the phone I placed the bet with the initial sportsbook using my Debit card.
I said but why have the funds been earmarked and they expalined that it comes through as authorised, pending the telephone call. This to protect the banks. Then when the telephone call is made, the retailer, IE Neteller, put the funds in.
I explained I no longer needed the funds in NETeller so they said, no problem, the money will be available in 5 working days (21st Aug). I said thats too long and she said no problem, just get the retialer to fax us they no longer want the money and we will take the flag off.
No problem, or so I thought.
Phone NETeller and the customer service rep said she would email and get them to fax the bank.
Got an email from NETeller
