I yesterday, needed to urgently get 2000 into a sportsbook account but dont like them having my Debit Card Details.

I bit the bullet and it was worth to pay 78 to Neteller (3.9%) for them to have it so I attempted to deposit 2000 via my debit card. There was plenty of funds in the bank account.

Nearly fell off my chair when It came back as declined. This is my main betting account and the bank is used to high volume transactions. So I went straight to my account and my "Available Balance" had gone down by 2078.

Just to explain, my bank shows 2 balance Actual Balance and Available Balance. If I Had a Actual Balance of 1000 then made a debit card payment of 200, my Actual Balance would be 1000 but available would be 800.

I immediatley telephoned my bank and they said is it an internet site, I said yes, and they said they need to complete a telephone Authorisation with them. This was starting to become a pain so while on the phone I placed the bet with the initial sportsbook using my Debit card.

I said but why have the funds been earmarked and they expalined that it comes through as authorised, pending the telephone call. This to protect the banks. Then when the telephone call is made, the retailer, IE Neteller, put the funds in.

I explained I no longer needed the funds in NETeller so they said, no problem, the money will be available in 5 working days (21st Aug). I said thats too long and she said no problem, just get the retialer to fax us they no longer want the money and we will take the flag off.

No problem, or so I thought.

Phone NETeller and the customer service rep said she would email and get them to fax the bank.

    Got an email from NETeller

Please be advised that your deposit of 2000 has been declined by NETELLER. Additionally, please be aware that unfortunately we can not fax your bank this information, if you would like, you may call us to request a list of transactions.
If you have any questions, please contact our Customer Service Department at +800-7767-6343 and we will be more than happy to assist you. Please choose option #0 then select option #1 from the phone menu to be connected directly to an agent.
The following Countries can dial Toll Free +800-7767-6343:
Austria, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Portugal, Japan, Australia, Taiwan, Israel, UK, France. Germany N, Netherlands, Spain, Denmark, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Greece, Poland, Macao, Ireland and Belgium.

So they wont fax the bank to tell them they dont want the money. Why, I do not know.

Any Ideas as I want the money on Tuesday

It happened the same thing to me

The first time I deposited with my debit card the exact same crap happened...

I went to my bank, and since it was debit card, the statement was going to take about 3 days.

The guy at the bank did gave me copy of the transfer. There you could see the merchant id and several other numbers that were linked to Neteller.

Don't worry, in 48 hours the funds will be in your acccount. Is a pain in the ass, but if it is the first time using neteller, is normal.

I have worked at several gambling business and what happens some times is a connection time out between the bank and neteller. Is just a stupid excuse, but it happens.

Don't worry, I guarantee you Neteller will not screw with your funds or bank... Is not their interest doing that. If you are a US citizen to avoid that.. use instacash. Then look for a casino that will reimburse the 8.9% charge for instacash and you are on your way to use the best method available for depositing...after InstaDebit...

They provide basically the same service as Neteller..only that they are located in the UK..

So if they screw with you, at least you can easily find out where to go and break some windows...

I wanted to add that Neteller have agreed to re-emburse all my bank wire charges (double dips from their bank) and to continue to refund all future ($23.50US) additional charges which their bank has been taking from the funds sent to Neteller.

    You beat me too it.

I particularly recommend Moneybookers.com because their maximum charge when withdrawing funds is just 1.80 Euros back to your bank account - or only 0.50 Euros if transfering to another moneybookers account (bookie or individual).

    That's right not a percentage - but just 1.8 Euros and 0.5 Euros !!!

IT means you no longer have to expose credit card details and/or bank account details to 3rd parties - although you do have to verify yourself to moneybookers initally.

Overall - the best e-money solution I've found so far.

    Disclaimer :
I'm not a share holder in this company - I don't have affiliate links to them - I simply have found them the best e-wallet both with bookmakers and also person to person payments.

Moneybookers.com - check it out sometime.
    :)

Do you mean depositing money into moneybookers or actually withdrawing?

If it's the latter....why pay to get your money out? There's no fees to withdraw with Neteller. If it's the first, then it's a great deal :)

    C'mon,

We both know this is RIP OFF BRITAIN!!!!

Neteller are not the only business who see us Brits as their cash cows!

iTunes, most CD companies, Microsoft, quite a few online casinos, phone companies - and more besides.

The UK consumer has begun to FIGHT BACK! Although the likes of Grand Prive like to treat Brits as scumbags, we now have the framework to be the only G8 country to license online casinos (at least for now). Some of our high street bookmakers have casinos with bonus deals to die for, but not British? Hard luck, in increasing numbers of cases.

iTunes - mark up on price paid by everyone else - taken to EU Courts:D

CD's DVD's & Microsoft - Markup has made for an increase in Piracy, which till recently has been out of the juristiction of the USA courts, and downloads (legal I might add), allow us to pay the same as the Yanks despite the best efforts of the publishers.
Microsoft have also received record fines in the EU

Phone, costs 2p per min to phone some casinos - but they have FREE phone for US customers. Also, using their international number is 2p, but if they have a UK "cheap" number also, this costs between 4p and 8p per minute!!

Skype, they don't like it, so they (phone companies) have tried to be "rid of it" by launching their own costlier versions, and eBay have bought it and even it is at risk of losing the "free" status.

Well, Neteller & Casinos - Don't expect sympathy and understanding from the Brits now that we are beginning to wise up! Neteller can shove their debit card "where the sun don't shine", because despite all their rosy claims of how easy and convenient it is, I prefer to pay 1 for whatever I want in one go and wait 5 days, than a fee to move money to the card, another to find out if it's there, a third fee to withdraw from the ATM, and "n" fees when I find I have to make a number of small withdrawals rather than one for the whole amount I want.
They needn't think I didn't notice the "Dollar" scam. "Can I have a separate dollar account for poker and dollar casinos? - no, not supported, you can use the one anyway", this seems to result in some remarkable "shrinkage" in my transactions!

I said it isnt free but she insisted it was. I was argueing the point with here, saying it costs up to 10p per minute, when she just terminated the chat
