Hi CM Friends,

I am writing this to ask for all the prayers possible. Received some bad news today about my sister in law. Her and my brother have been together since my brother was like 16. My SIL is only 24 and has a pacemaker from some heart issues and found out she needs a heart and kidney transplant or will not make it another 2 years.

This news has hit us by surprise and just don't know where to turn for help. She has three beautiful little girls all under 6. She is on the Kansas State medical card and they stopped paying for transplants in 2000. The KU Medical Center told my brother and SIL they need about a million dollars for the transplant, yeah right that is outrageous.

I know there must be organizations out there for this kind of stuff, but as of right now I, myself can't think of which direction to start cuz I am so upset as so if my whole family.

She has a kidney disease that led to the cardiomyopathy, the most severe case possible the doctors said. Please I ask just to pray for my family, her name is Carissa and my brother's name is Tommy. I believe in that prayers do get answered and right now that is all we need.

If anyone can lead me into the right direction of maybe where to start I would gladly appreciate it for like organizations and such that may help with info, donors etc.

Thanks CM in advance for all prayers and thoughts.

Hello blonde:

I read your letter, I feel much what is happening with your family

I do not know how is the Health in America, but I can tell you that Spain is one of the countries that most transplants are performed.

If I were you talk to the Embassy of Spain in USA if surgery is possible in Spain. (It's just a suggestion, do not know if this is possible).

Below you can see a story (Real) I have from my country:

The artificial device was the only possibility for Pedro Antonio Perez, who suffered a stroke in 1996, and whom the doctors at the hospital in Madrid on October 12 had been given just weeks to live.

Lively and upbeat, Perez recounted his experience with the cardiac surgery team that participated last May.

The chief of medical service, José María Cortina, and Dr. Perez de la Sota, explained the new technique has been implemented and more than 7.500 patients worldwide, but this is the first time you perform in Spain .

The device is an artificial titanium mechanism with two cannulas entering and leaving the heart, and an electric motor which drives pump blood into the body, and which is inserted into the patient's chest.

Externally, a small cable connects to a control unit consisting of a battery that plugs into the mains if the person is at home, or in two rechargeable batteries with a range of approximately 12 hours so you can move and carry a life as normal as possible.

It is estimated that the artificial heart can take between 8 and 10 years running, and after that time should be replaced only part of the engine.

Meanwhile, the patient only has to take extra hygiene in the area of electrical cable, being abroad, is the only area susceptible to infection.

The device costs about 90,000 euros ($129,000) but, according to cardiologists at the October 12, it is much cheaper than the "several thousand euros" daily cost of patient treatment every time you entered a heart attack.

After the operation, which took place on May 4, Perez spent four days in the ICU and received one month after hospital discharge.

According to Dr. Perez de la Sota, currently there are no patients on the waiting list for this procedure because it is more often a person with heart supports cardiac transplantation.

The artificial heart recipient who lives alone and said that makes a normal life, although the only thing missing is lead, which, for now, doctors have forbidden him.

This occurred in this hospital:

Hospital 12 de Octubre

Street:Avda de Córdoba s/n

Madrid

C.P.: 28041

Telephone:+0034-91-390-80-00

If you see that I am able to assist you in anything else, just say so.

I sincerely hope that all will go well.

Bye!

Wow what an amazing story and thank you for sharing. I wrote down the info as I am getting a huge list together of questions, options and all that. Health care here in the USA sucks, plain and simple. She has insurance and since it's from the State of Kansas you would think she would be ok, but no. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers it means a lot to my family. :)

So sorry, prayers too, to you and your family.

I can't imagine the pain but I do understand the uncertainty of life.

Maybe Bingo-T might have some sources for you to begin with. (He's a nurse).

Meanwhile, I and many members here will try and give you sources of help.

Keep the faith.

Sorry to hear that Blonde - one idea that you might try is to contact your local news agency and explain the situation. There have been several cases here in Edmonton where someone has been facing a life threatening illness and treatment is either not covered by health care or not available to them for whatever reason. Once the news people got involved and ran their stories, there were people jumping in all over to help! It makes me so proud. Apart from financial donations, in one case the health minister actually changed the rules so that Alberta Health Care picked up the tab for the medication, and in another case a doctor in the US offered to do the surgery for free, and even flew the family down and put them up in a hotel. There's help out there if you can just get the story into the public eye, and the best people to do it are your local media. Prayers out to your family.

So sorry to hear this Blonde :(

Prayers are with your brother and sister in law, I do hope everything works out!

You know were I am if you ever need a chat :)

Mainstream media is great to get involved.

But social media is becoming a real force too. If a bullied bus monitor can receive 400K in donations, surely there will be people willing to help your family.

There are many people here with internet skills and knowledge about SEOs and all kinds of promotion. Many of us belong to forums that have nothing to do with gambling, and whenever there is something set up to share, I'll be happy to post to my facebook, write at my forums and make a donation myself.

Hi guys,

Thanks a bunch for the replies, appreciate it very very much. I have started on my journey tonight after the family left today to do some research etc. Going to make some calls tomorrow, if most places are open since its the holiday so to speak. This is going to be a long journey and fight, but my SIL and brother are up for it all. Spirits are high right now and nothing is going to let or get us down. Hugs to all and god bless.

Hi Blonde my Thoughts & Prayers go out to your family.
I asked some people about this & they will look into it for me.
On Facebook also they have a great organization "Donate Life America" & they may send you in the right direction.
I sent them your first post today.
I am a organ donor & proud to say I am.
God Bless

TY BingoT :) I just logged into facebook and am looking for them. I will let you know what I find out. ((hugs))

Money should never be a part of the equation on saving a life - but this is reality in our modern era. Main stream media would be your best (if not only) option. Like Jasminebed mentioned, social media can play a part in this as well. Wishing you success!

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your sis in law, may she get the help she needs, no price can be put on the value of life, I would go to many charities for help for your sis in law, local collections could also be set up to help gather money in, with a picture of your sis in laws 3 kids and herself and what the donations are needed for.

I wish you and your sis in law all the best of luck and lots of positive thoughts, take care.

Mainstream media is great to get involved.

But social media is becoming a real force too.

IMO social media works only when it's in hand with mainstream media to prove legitimacy. Anyone with access to a computer can set up a facebook page and a paypal account to accept donations - unfortunately, there are a lot of unscrupulous slimeballs doing that very thing and conning people with a sob story. Like Jessica Vega or that other one who faked cancer.

As much as I'm glad that people helped the lady who got bullied on the bus....maybe I'm being cynical, but I think that you'll be seeing a lot of those kinds of videos around now and probably most of them will be faked.

Tanya I'm just thinking outside the box here. If Kansas Medical card does not do transplants, are there any other state medical cards that do? If so find out if she moves to that state what rules she needs. Example does she need to live there for 6 months to qualify? It could be possible since she is on medical card already that she could qualify. It may be worth looking into. Also Medical Care is the biggest political and news issue right now. Start Emailing this story to every major TV news show and the presidents campaign offices. They would eat this story alive. Hit the shows live The View, the Today show, The Talk Anderson. Get them all. You need major media blitz. Find out everyone of Presidents campaign offices, email story there he is using medical care as his reelection and look what I've done. It may take time to get some answers this will help keep you busy while you wait. Start hitting forums and websites to set up donation links. If a bus lady could get over 650,000 for being bullied on a bus I.m sure Social Media can help your SIL. You need to call and talk to a Donor Social worker, and ask them what do most people do in situations like this? The social worker may be able to help you get more info. Call every major hospital in every major city. Like the Mayo Clinic and Loyola University Hospital. They sometimes have funds set aside and do donor surgeries for free. Its a lot of work, maybe you can get someone from every state to help you. I'm in IL just say the word and I will start calling all places here for ya. Between 3dice and Cm I'm sure we can get enough people to help out ( with Cm permission) Last but not least not many know this I do because I worked in the casino industry. Many land based casinos have charity funds set up. Start calling them. They may be able to start a fund as well.

I know its a lot hun with a lot of prayers and some good people maybe we can get this going.

We all may be from different places and may have different ideas but there is one thing that makes us one- we are all human.

OK here is a big one for ya Dr OZ who is a heart surgeon. he has facebook pages as well as websites. I would post your situation and ask where do we start and what do we do? Get the word out on everyone of his pages as well as his website.

Just a quick update. I feel we are going in the right direction. Received some info from the doctor about the state of Missouri. This is where he sends his transplant patients and once my SIL is on the medical card there it covers most of the fees. I myself did some research the other day and when my brother called me it confirmed my findings. Praise the good lord that this is a step in the right direction. The other good news is we live right on the border so my brother and family wont be moving too far. Still tons of research etc to be done, but I had to share this with you all. Thank you again for all prayers we cant thank you enough CM family. (((hugs)))
