My stolen Casino details hacked

That's a 2 point rep infraction for 'chat joviality' and a further 10 for 'violation of banter boundaries'.

Any more and you're being served Ribena at the Meister Meeting :eek2:

The way I'm going I'm more liable to be covered in claret and thrown out of the door! :axeman2:

I am bowing out of this thread now.

Well, I must say I'm very relieved to realize this was intended as a joke that fell a little flat on it's face.

It was posted in a serious thread, and colin should have been quicker to acknowlegde he was pulling or leg.

Go on, pull the other one guv!

A couple of real life friends have had facebook accounts "spoofed", and I was initially quite worried as I did click the link that took me to my home page.

Took me more than a day, to realize this was really "want to see a monkey" and showing me a mirror.

Had it been posted in the attic, I would have realized not to panic at all.

Identify Theft of any kind is no laughing matter. At least not unless it's clearly in the joke section.

As for the banter between some members, which may include me from time to time, I can see where it can be derailing at times. And for many newcomers, I think it can be intimidating, not because of it's nature, but the "clique" kind of thing. Of an established crowd of people that know each other.

It's probably not surprising that quite a few people with social anxieties turn to life online. And it's far less than kind to call them "snowflakes".
Making a first post at a forum can be a very big deal. A dorment member and friend of mine wrote this a long time ago. I did a fair amount of coaxing to get her to participate more her, she is a nice woman and a valuable member. Link Outdated / Removed

CM membership ebbs and flows. I enjoy the banter myself, but still am only ever so mildly annoyed to realize I have to page back 2 to find the point I was going to make before I got sidetracked, lol.

I detest typing on mobile devices, I want a full sized keyboard. I've been awfully quiet for a month.

I'll see you at the Bar and Grill, which although I'm not always there, I always appreciate that it is 5:00 somewhere.

Or the Attic. The Attic was actually a fairly busy section of the forum when I joined, with people sharing funny stuff and real life moments.

I appreciate getting to "know" people here. No one is saying censorship, but keep in mind when not to continue a derail. It is hard, because there's some funny stuff, just springs to mind more funny stuff, and I've found myself having to go up top to see what thread I'm in and backspace out because I haven't address the real issue at all, just wanting to make a wiseacre comment.

That's not mine or other experienced members fault. It is an established crowd of people that know each other.....why wouldn't it be after months and years. Displaying that as a newbie-member deterrant is not my problem as pretty much everyone had to make their CM bow at some stage.

It took me about a year before I even posted and I made sure that I believed it could add something to the discussion at hand, and there were experienced members all over the shop, the Niftys and Dunovers and topics I didn't know anything about but picked up along the way.

The example cited with your friend has no correlation with me engaging in banter with a fellow member, or taking the piss out of a terrible slot. You do myself and a few others a disservice if you genuinely believe that if she had posted her story about her troubles that there'd be riproaring laughter and ridicule from all angles and that the tone wouldn't be sensitive and respectful.

I do find it incredulous that people get riled up if someone posts something off the cuff, in the moment, and briefly diverts away from the subject matter, on any given subject. And if spontaneity is so frowned upon, without it CM would probably be missing 30% of its content.

Contributing to CM is what makes it a community, and that comes from different people with different outlooks. Moderators are in place to regulate things when they get out of hand, when others start dictating what goes and what doesn't then the forum really does fall apart.

So.........censorship?

Maybe give people a safe space?

Honestly is that censorship for you?

If I have a problem with a casino or what ever the thread is, so if you not allowed to type bad jokes or some other lame stuff then suddenly its censor? :what:

I'm not 'allowed to'?

Thanks for clearing that up, mummy.

I'll be sure to consult you for approval :what:

This is why it's important to engage new members - and members who haven't posted too much.

What may seem like a "clique" is usually just an active group of people who have more or less the same opinions, and that's great. Over the years these groups evolve - they either grow or disappear as people come and go. That's the nature of the forum.

The forum has changed over the past several years, mainly from the decrease in US traffic. It's half of what it was three years ago while the UK traffic has doubled. Many of our US members were old-time members, and a lot of these folks have moved on since the dynamics of the industry has changed.

It's probably not surprising that quite a few people with social anxieties turn to life online. And it's far less than kind to call them "snowflakes".

Wow! I hadn't seen that before. :eek2:

Just goes to show, this forum is a true outlet for a lot of folks. And I do what I can to make this like a second home for some.

CM membership ebbs and flows. I enjoy the banter myself, but still am only ever so mildly annoyed to realize I have to page back 2 to find the point I was going to make before I got sidetracked, lol..

Yeah, I love the banter, but I trust that people know when the thread is on the verge of being derailed and get back to the point. I don't need to step in that often - and I trust the senior membership to nip things in the bud when needed. I can't be everywhere all of the time. :D

Yep, like I implied in the above - people are people, and many of us take pride in our community and really feel that we are a part of it. We also want to feel valued as a member (I value all of my members - even the trollish ones :p) and we want to be free to express ourselves.

And there are a number of ways to express oneself - we have the blogs, the Meister Clubs, and of course the main forum where there are many sections besides the gambling ones.

The main thing is that all members should feel comfortable in sharing their opinions and experiences. I know for a lot of people it can be intimidating, and I trust that the current active members are a welcoming sort of crowd - and in my opinion they are.

And of course, we are not always going to get along. Just imagine yourself at a large party moving from one conversation to another. That's a bit how it is here. And if there are folks you don't really want to talk to, change the subject to Finnish Black Metal - you might empty your part of the room. :p

I agree with what Jasminebed said. I was really reluctant to post here even though i have been around awhile. Also I do not have much to add on most topics. I do enjoy some of the banter though. I especially like the educational posts about gambling and wish that i could be as well rounded as some. It is pretty hard to follow some members thoughts on threads because it gets pretty technical. I have really been saved from a lot of bad operations being here. Sorry off topic .
