My pet peeve du jour - comp points expiring

Some Microgaming casinos especially drive me nuts - they usually have a minimum where you're able to cash in, and just when it seems you're getting close to that mark, half your points expire! This has happened to me 3 bloody times at one casino.

I'm not a big depositor or a big better, so it takes me maybe longer than some to rack up comps - but IMO I earned those points by my play, and it doesn't seem fair that they just can take them away. It feels like blackmail almost, "Give us more money so you can cash in your measly $5 or $10 in comps or we'll take away everything you've earned so far."

 I know it sounds ridiculous right?

I just don't think that comp points should expire in a casino where you're playing all the time. If you stop playing for a couple of months, then sure take them. But to take them when you play all the time and just haven't been lucky enough to get any playtime just adds insult to injury.

What do you guys think?

Agree 120%. You earned them, plain and simple. I almost don't even agree with the casinos that say your balance will be forfeited after a year or so inactivity. True I can't see why a player would leave a balance in their casino account for over a year, but by the same token it's still their balance.

Don't be touching muh monAy

The casino needs you more than you need them! Tell them to go where and keep their measly comp which you have to play WR too I assume. I wouldn't give them another penny!
I am assuming you do have other casinos you can play at else.... you have no choice I guess.

I agree. That's not a pet peeve, that's a serious issue. A casino that values you as a loyal customer would not make you forfeit earned comp points. Find one that knows how to treat good customers. They are out there.

So I wrote to this casino and they wrote back saying basically "Sorry you're unhappy but that's the way our comp points work, they expire in 60 days."

So at this casino I need 5000 comps to cash in $5, they won't let you cash in except in increments of $5. Each point I earn is from $10 in bets. So uhmmm math not being my strong suit, it's looking like you need to wager $50,000 within 2 months to be able to claim $5 in comps? :eek2:

To be honest, I've cashed in comps a couple of times when I've played at more than one casino in the group - and only usually after doing something stupid like reversing a withdrawal or two.

Anyhow It's not a big deal really, I just wanted to bitch about it and see what other players think.

I think it sucks too. I had better luck with one casino where I had around $50 in expired comp points and I was given a tenner a gesture of good will.

It's often a period of say June-Aug, rather than 3 months of your play or something too, so if you don't hit it right, you can get nada. I wouldn't mind so much if you have 3 months with NO play if they expired, but when you are playing regularly, and just always seem a little short, it's a bummer.

I rather like Inetbet's way of increasing the return for redeeming if you save up your points.

I play one Playtech where I have to have a whopping $40 worth of comp points before I redeem, but they don't expire, and it does give me a decent balance to start with when I do redeem.
