My first little project - Finally

The site looks extremely nice - great work for a newbie!

Can't add any more to the great suggestions others have already made (being a complete hammer-chewer myself, I don't do most of those things!).

I do await with interest your frustration with the affy programs with NCO or massive fees which leave you with peanuts or less (VS 'cough')

KK

Took UK targeting banners from homepage and making a separate tab for UK promotions with t&c's added / linked.
So no more mixup in £ and € banners to start with.

"I do await with interest your frustration with the affy programs with NCO or massive fees which leave you with peanuts or less (VS 'cough')"

Cheers KK, I am sure I will learn in the course of time which aff programs are decent or not. All I promote are casinos that I play or have played and never had any issues when it comes to payouts or other important things. So I hope that relates back to their respective aff programs. :/

It doesn't, look at skybet, 32red, both scammers, but ok for players .I suggest you look around various affiliate forums before you start promoting any, gwpa, agd, and the affiliate section here for example.

From a legal POV, are you based in the UK?

"Irrespective of which country you are resident of in or supply information from, you authorize safetoplaycasinos to use your information in the United Kingdom and any other country where safetoplaycasinos operates in."

No living in Ireland Nicola. :)
But as I also offer UK bonuses I thought I had to add UK separately.

- SSL vital for Google rankings and brower compatibility - some browsers will block site visitors now if they are not secure
- You have no XML Sitemap - this is something search engines use to index pages and discover pages

Hi Nicola, I have added Google XML sitemaps in my plugins and activated it. I hope this will help in the future as you recommended above.
Whilst still struggling with the https:// I decided to keep that active and going for now, struggling I mean with some media that affiliate programs offer. They seem to not offer normal ad block friendly banners and only offer flash / java based banners and they are not visible if I open my website in https://, they do show when I open in regular http://

Last question, some links do not seem to show any affiliate ID when I click on them like the one below.
I use bitly on Twitter and for some reason the links do work,go to the casino website but I have no clue if it recognises my aff ID as in below link.
Left my user and tracker ID out :)

Even works with the XXXXX :what:

Still thinking which way to go with the website now as I do not want to over promote casino brands as said before. Maybe add a blog like you said and keep the site up to date of course. I feel it looks a bit bland but I am happy with what I have got so far as a newb

Ermmm... I like you mate but content thievery isn't cool. That 18+ 'Adults Only' banner you have used was made, worded and created by me for my fastpayingcasinos.com site you saucy so-and-so.....:what: See my Wordpress account image below 'your' image.....

Ah I am so sorry man...I googled for an image because I was told I needed one of those on my website and this one showed up on the top page! :eek2:
I will remove it right away Dunover!! I did not realize it was copyrighted.
Like I said, I am still a noob in this world but eager to learn!!!

I will see if I can make something myself or use a non copyrighted image.

My apologies!

I have removed that Dunover! Again I am sorry mate.
Forgive my stupidity for not checking if the image was copyrighted.
I am sure I will learn much more in the near future.

Just had another look mate.

- safetoplaycasinos banner - Why don't you put the banner on the top with a graphically good-looking site logo and your slogan: "Only the most reliable casinos". Having your page title at the top and then the banner is using too much space.

- Meta title tag - change your Meta title tag to display something like: SafeToPlayCasino.com | Only the most reliable casinos! - Try to get to a length of 550 - 600 pixels as that is what will be displayed in Google searches. You can check the length here:

- Stacking casino ads - I see you added more casinos to the landing page. It will become an endless list at some point if you keep that style. Why not do a grid with the TOP5 on the front page and then a link to a second page, where you have more, call it something like: "Click here to view all our recommended casinos".
On top of the TOP5, you could add a row with the "Casino of the Month"
You can also add a tab to your other page tabs with something like: All Casinos. It avoids for your site being seen as an ad farm. In general, I would make a grid as that organizes them better. You could have then as last column with a button showing "Play now" or "Visit now".

- You can move the gambleaware.org and 18+ part to the bottom of your page. Alternatively, you can put the 18+ on your banner.

- Gambleaware.org needs to be a live link if you promote in the UK

Yes, don't worry about it - lesson learned! Google indexes images as well as text and for this reason a lot of webmasters watermark their images (I didn't obviously!) but I take it as a compliment you used mine lol....

TBH you could use it if you like (or make a new one and copy the text as it's pretty concise and generic). If you need slot images for example I'd suggest watching YT videos and taking stills from them as it means yours would be unique or playing them in fun mode.

As for the site, 'banner farm' crops up a lot and as Nicola said there's pros and cons to that. Remotely hosted banners, especially aimed at the UK market tend to be updated at the affiliate account end which saves you hassle if offers change sometimes, BUT pop-up blockers can remove them from viewers. Many of my pages could be called 'banner farms' but in conjunction with the banners there's always a decent amount of info and content alongside and it's been quite a successful site so far. I can tell this by Google Analytics which I would suggest you sign up with as it tells you everything you need to know - location of viewers, search engines used, browsers, mobile or desktop, average stay on your site, click-throughs and most importantly source of traffic/links-in plus search terms.

You'll soon discover that Google gives maximum credence to the domain name so anyone searching 'safe to play casinos' would likely see yours on the front page of search results - this is why if you search fastpaying casinos I am top of the organic results despite being a minnow compared to some just under me, the ones above me have bought the 'fast paying casinos' keyword on Google Ads and have paid for that position. That is another thing to bear in mind - do NOT attempt to buy Google Ad words as you may get your search keywords for say 50p a click now, but once the big affiliates cotton on (which they will in about 4-8 weeks) they'll outbid you and you'll end up paying about a fiver a click to compete. Focus on you domain keyword (i.e. safe-to-play-casinos) and you should slowly see a presence. Lastly, don't be afraid to trade links with people like myself and other affiliates or relevant websites - good links-in are hugely significant for SEO presence! Good luck!

Well done for trying lotush:thumbsup:

I'm just a simple player, but as a player I wouldn't make a single click on that page. I wouldn't even try to read anything.
You have to split it up in two columns and make the text larger, or I simply can't read without making the text bigger.

If I enter a site that have a banner who blinks I'm automaticly thinking the word bannerfarm and leave. Those banners could be tiny on the side of the text, and not move:)

I know nothing about the rest and I haven't read all that's been said, but I'll be happy checking the site again when you've changed the front page:D

Thanks guys,I really appreciate all your feedback..Will see how I can implement all your tips in the near future..

@Tirelj, Yes I made the fonts smaller as I thought it would be nicer to read, not too screaming if you know what I mean..Will have a look into that..Thanks for your PM also..

@Dunover,cheers for that post mate..Will go and analyse all that over the next coming days..

It is just still all new to me and I obviously have a lot to learn..Funny I made my first commissions already via Twitter..Website not a single signup yet..

It's not funny at all, that's exactly what I'd expect. Be very careful as the programmes know EXACTLY where your sign-up links come from, and if using Twatter (Facebook is forbidden now by many UK-facing programmes) make sure you have explained the salient bonus terms or provided an affiliate link to them to cover your arse.

P.S. Don't pay too much attention to Tirilej's post as (not being rude here!) I doubt she realizes that many affiliate programmes are insisting now that you can only use THEIR banners with the salient terms when there is the possibility of recruiting UK players hence you may find you have no choice in using some banners. You'll find this out when they start getting in touch once you've signed a UK player up and insist you use x, y or z media and nothing you've made.

Lotusch good start and also some good advice in this thread. Dunover, especially is one to follow as he has made a good success at becoming an affiliate!

Not much more to add. But if you are up for a link exchange, send me a PM :)
