Hi Forum,

New here and a little desperate but probably know the answer.

My own fault with an accident here similar to quite a few others in the “different name deposit” camp.

However, my situation is a £200 deposit from a PayPal that was accidentally auto logged into through Google chrome in my other half’s name, the payment method is a joint bank account. I should’ve checked and it’s my fault, my other half doesn’t have a Mr Q account.

My account was fully verified, withdrawal of £1350 put through. I’m now being asked for a picture of the ID of the PayPal owner. I’ve CC’d my other half in the support chain and he has submitted this with an explanation that it’s a joint account.

My question is does it being PayPal and a joint account change anything with terms?

Giving me serious anxiety as £1350 is a lot of money to us. I’ve posted a negative review on Trustpilot which might be a little hasty as I’ve not actually had a response yet but can see the route it’s going down!

Any advice/thoughts would be appreciated

Becca

Shouldn't be a problem if it's a joint account and she doesn't have an account with the casino. I think that if there's nothing else fishy about your casino account, then you'll get your money. But on the other hand we're talking about an online casino here and they seem to for the most part employ amateurs, so who the hell knows?

At the least you should get the deposit back.

You've summed it up I think.

I doubt you will get winnings as you are only supposed to use deposit methods in your name. Thems the most basic of casino rules.

Having the source funded by two accounts just complicates things when it comes to the source of wealth checks, the casino will be entitled and obliged to scrutinise both sources of income if it gets that far.

If it's an honest mistake and there's been no other suspicious activity on the account, then I can see them paying. Depends on the casino though. Have no experience with Mr Q, so can't really be sure though.

The whole paypal thing is really easy to do - nearly did the same myself a few times.

Terms of MrQ - one of the worst support out there in terms of getting hold of them - which is an achievement in itself, let alone explaining things.

The casino generally seem quite fair though, having played there for a year or so - so might be ok with an explanation.

The approach here would vary from casino to casino.

In their terms, some casinos do not allow the use of third party payment methods or joint accounts. Usually this is because it complicates the source of funds/ wealth process.

I see in their terms MrQ state “You agree that all payment methods used by you in connection with your Account belong to you and are in your name, and that all money deposited is your personal money and not money that relates to another person, business or other source, or provided to you by a third party (including but not limited to money from a loan, family member, associate or any other source). If you breach this Term we will take the actions outlined in section 12”.

This is a term though that should be highlighted to players clearly on the deposit page before you deposit. Otherwise it can be seen to be unfair to the player. I’m wondering if this was the case. It would be an interesting case to highlight this via their ADR provider (IBAS) which is free: their email according to the MrQ terms is adjudication@ibas-uk.co.uk

Just had a look

It shows the following. The really annoying bit is I didn’t actually mean to do it!

At what point does it end though? How many terms and conditions must be listed at the point of deposit to babysit players from using the wrong account?

IBAS is bloody excessive considering, what a waste of everyone's time.

It seems pretty black and white to me, although still not sure if it was a joint account or a Paypal of a partners, either way, I cant see how the casino can be at fault here.

Perhaps if you had notified them straight away they might say play away but you can't really moan if you've broken the term and start running to IBAS asking for more notifications and warnings at deposit.

I get you, however this was a mistake, partners PayPal being logged in automatically through Google chrome. The only thing I wasn’t sure may be a saving grace is that the payment method used on the PayPal is our joint account so my name is against it.

Bit gutting if a mistake knocks me out of £1350. Although you probably get “it was a mistake” a lot as fraud department of a casino so difficult not to look disingenuous!

Google Chrome is a pain in the arse for deciding what to do with your info :)

I've not been through the PayPal thing but of course, there is a point where you must click to confirm the payment.

I hope you get your money, you seem genuine. Just not worth the whole IBAS fiasco, I don't think, all things considered.

Quick update,

All funds received, but account closed, so looks as though Mr Q base it around funds in account rather than deposit.

Confusing but positive(ish)
I did think they'd pay you and close

Confusing...i wouldn't say so, it probably raised a lot of red flags at their end and tbh many an operator would have not paid you, or at least made it hard to get the 1350.

You managed to dodge a bullet so make sure it doesn't happen again :)

I Been Playing there for a while and more now that i have left VS. There a solid outfit to be fair even if support is slow at times. They run mostly by automated systems which is how they keep there games on High RTP. That also works against them when a game goes down as if they don't get a mail about it then its days before it gets detected. What i would say is you are lucky as i think a lot of places would have returned your deposits and closed your account
