Mr Green and sms

*sigh*
Closed my Mr Green acct.
Couldn't recall the password and unfortunately Mr Green will not email a new password but through sms only - which, seems ridiculous to me, as chat asked me to email updating some details and the registered email clearly works and was received and responded to.

So just a note to other players - if you don't use sms, you're s.o.l. if you forget your password.

Bryans detailed review of Mr. Green here

You could ask the rep for help. That's what I had to do to open an account without a sms.

Cheers.
I took it as policy as the auto retrieve for forgotten password requires sms onsite, which is what prompted me to go into live chat when I wasnt receiving emails with a new password. Also I noticed the rep read the thread yesterday and hadn't posted or pmed.

The thread was more a member warning than a grumble. :)

I don't understand dionysus. You don't have a cellphone that accepts text messages? Quite a few casinos send a verification code via SMS. I think you are passing up a good casino with a good bonus structure. Any casino that allows you to withdraw before dipping into your bonus funds is good in my books. They don't have Netent which is the only fallback but they do have Ygdrassil and lots more to chose from. Personally I really like the site and although I don't like verifications via SMS .... meh .... tiny little issue.

I have a cellphone yes that accepts texts.....for a fee... and since otherwise I'm not a texter I don't subscribe to it.
I'm not saying there's anything inherently wrong with a casino using sms for verification (though I also don't see why email can't suffice), I'm just saying I don't have text, and posted because, as I've eseen in multiple threads not everyone uses cell phones (or likes casinos having their cell number if they do).

Yeah. I get that.

Having said all this I had huge problems with a deposit there today. I hope it gets sorted out because so far it has cost me $13.90 and I haven't even played yet.

Sometimes I wonder why we bother with all this shit.

Lol, that's probably why I've limited my casinos to under a handful - where I know I'm grief-free and verified.

As to why we do it - we all dream of the big-azz hit lol and some of us have the attention span of goldfish and want what's new :p

I also only deposit now with casinos that work in CAD so I'm not losing on the hefty 25% exchange (yes it works out in the wash - withdraws - but hurts the initial playtime)....at least until the US/CAD dollar goes back to or near par.

That's what I liked about Mr. Green. Deposits are in CAD -- you can use Instadebit (although I just found out about withdrawal fees when I tried to reverse everything -- charged by the bank) and you can withdraw if you hit it big before hitting the bonus funds.

I will be patient and see what happens but I was just looking so forward to a nice relaxing afternoon of gaming. And, I had a good feeling about this. I know if I touch the funds, I will definitely be out of luck.

Seriously do you get charged for texts sent to you in Canada.

I never realised that happened . Over here texts only cost us to send. It would cost me a fortune with all the PPI , insurance and other spam texts I get.

Depends on your service and plan.
I use pay as you go which allows me X minutes and dont pay for the text service as it adds little value to what I need the phone for.
Though whether monthly bill or add-ons, you in some form pay for text service.

Never knew that. If you have a pay as you go over here you receive texts for nothing even if you never top up your balance.

No wonder some people don't like casinos having mobile numbers if they get charged for texts.

Well, for example, I pay x which gives me x minutes
and texts is an add-on fee for unlimited texting, unless im using a wrap in higher plan or monthly bill.
I barely use my phone but to read and use the camera lol with minimal calling, so I use a very basic plan.

Most add ons or plans come with unlimited texting -though, you still pay for that add-on or plan.

Here nor there - its not all that expensive. I just dotnt have it, so for the casino, i cant/dont receive texts for verification.
Nothing wrong with the casino, just isnt good for me.
The OP was more to letting members know, if they DONT have cells/sms, they cant get password verification to their acct. :)
