Need your input: Most disappointing slot-related news of 2024?

I need some input here!
DHV2 is a massive let down, but I wasn't remotely surprised they fucked it up royally, because every new slot is a massive let down.

Why doesn't a games developer create a bunch of 5-reel 9-line slots like the original Thunderstruck, Adventure Palace, Ladies Night, Tally Ho etc? 3 scatters for free spins, unlimited retriggers, genuine excitement and good win potential without the silly hyper wins that 99.999% of us will never see anyway....
That's really what the industry is missing - fun slots like in the heyday of online casinos.

I know those games are still out there, but since being taken over by Games Global they stink, so they might as well not exist.

Games are made to be streamer bait, from which (insert silly streamer here) fans will attempt to emulate their feats. No gameplay needed, just pure razzmatazz and fluff.

The days of making simple yet engaging slot titles with little fanfare, yet relatively charming themes are all but gone, to be replaced with bombastic and grandiloquent turds, featuring mental asylums and black hawks, for the simple of mind.

I'd like to think even the 5-reel 9-liners of yore were mostly profitable endeavours, but you can be sure they're small fry compared to the ramped-up machinations of today, no doubt 🤔

The main problem nowadays, is that slots are just made to whip your nuts off as quickly as possible, without leaving trace, that a sack was ever present.

That’s why slots where it was possible to grind away for a few hours, with the chance of a big win or worst case scenario, you lost £20, have either been removed or dimmed down so that they are unplayable.

The games as they existed are no good to the filthy, greedy people (excuse typo), in today’s world. That is why every game is now programmed for feast or famine, with the latter occurring 99% of the time for the punter.

It’s not the pleasurable experience it once was. Oh for the days when it genuinely felt like you were playing a slot with a 96% rtp and not this scamming awful 85% bollox.

To be honest, it’s still common for me to have experiences like this and make my $50 deposits last a few hours or more on $0.20 bets (with my fair share of 2x+ deposit withdrawals). But I suspect I play a lot differently to most here. Admittedly, most of you would think my “method” is boring af haha.

I have to say that if there was one thing I would put top of my list when reminiscing about the good old days, it would be the Viper download casinos.

I have to say I long for the old days, when there were far fewer casino game providers, it seemed that every new game release was in the main exciting.

For Microgaming the likes of Tombraider and Thunderstruck instantly spring to mind. While with Playtech, two of my favourite games in the form of Great Blue and Gladiator. I mean at the time Gladiator was pretty ground breaking, with cinematic effects being a big part of the game.

Then I think of Cryptologic and the likes of King Kong. I absolutely loved that game.

Every month it seemed as if the few providers we had, kept on outdoing each other with their latest game release.

Now in the main we get served up x number of clones and apart from the odd rough diamond, players are fed uninspiring slots to play :-(

It doesn’t pay for the developers to take any risks anymore. The market is so flooded with mediocre games and/or clones that any attempt to do so will rarely be worth the money spent developing them.
Couple that with the casinos greed and demands for ever lower RTPs and the future is very bleak. The fact that the biggest casinos by and large offer by far the worst RTPs to fund their shit TV adverts suckering more in is so depressing.
William Hill occasionally send me an email asking how they are doing. Gets a bit boring telling them that 90% online is a disgrace.

some bad news today on playgrand and 21casino (and other 'white' group casinos) they put the RTPs down on the older playngos today. Rip ever playing there again.
