Moral dilemma

This was not "found" money. An overpayment should have been returned immediately.

I think OP is caught between the restraints of acceptable social behavior and those favored by his natural selection of survival value.

I meant nothappy, not OP.

I received a couple duplicate payments before and didn't lose any sleep over keeping them. Last year a certain casino forgot a bonus was sticky and included it in my withdrawal. No, I didn't tell them anything.

Do what you want and don't worry about it too much.

This happened to me about 8 years or so ago. Back when Shark Casino was still a legit one, i loved this place btw :( Why do good ones have to go bad, *sigh*. Anyway, i won $1400 from them, and when i got paid to neteller, i had $2800 in my account. Yes i said neteller, remember those good ole days for us US players? lol I pondered whether i should pay them back for all of like 10 minutes, then i contacted the manager at Shark casino and told them about the overpayment, and he asked me to make a $1400 dollar deposit to the casino through neteller back to them. I did, and they received their money back, ironically, i never received a thank you or anything from them. Christmas was like a month after when i sent it back to them, and i didn't even get a bonus. I was kinda perturbed that i was honest about their "bank error" yet they didn't even seem to be thankful for it. I should have known then they would end up rogue :p

Last year a bingo site paid me 183 USD instead of 100. I contacted them right away and settled the overpaid amount by moneybookers the same day. If it had been a rogue site, I am not sure what I would have done - probably kept it or let them wait.

Well I contemplated everything here but like many of you suggested, it goes back to what is right for me. I contacted them and told them about the payment. They said they would escalate this and send an email to the proper department then contact me back with an email explaining what action should be taken next. Part of me really wants to screw with them and delay payment to them but that only justifies their own actions. I want to be above that. I would never have felt good keeping the money without telling them of the mistake. I would gladly keep it if they told me to but I guess that will not be the case.

Good for you Nothappy, whether it's a rogue or not, or if they thank you or not, you are the better person for it.

Well done for taking the high road here. I can fully understand the point of view people have that the casino deserves to lose out on these funds, if for nothing else than the massive runaround they initially gave you and presumably countless others. I'm glad your conscience won out though.

Now... when they reply with instructions on how to return their money, make sure they include a recent utility bill for the company and proof that none of their employees are full time students at any level ;)

One last suggestion... if they don't have the decency to reward your honesty with some type of bonus or thanks, never darken their doors again.

If they want the cash back send them a faxback form to be filled in by the owners and the cashier and submitted with scans of their ids. I guarantee they won't fill it out and you are off the hook.

AMEN TO THAT BROTHER!!!!

i would require faxback and ids from them, and make them wait 3-5 business sdays...no, 7-14 business days, then, don't forget the "procesor problems" you are obviously having. after they wait the required timeframe... (whatever you determine that may be)...tell them the scans they sent were not clear enough and they need to re-send, and let them wait some more. and...most importantly, the processing fees that are related in getting them the cash. :)

..can't ya just smell the biterness? :p:p

please please dont forget to charge them for your research time including the anguish you were put through

and the time for the polling and all associated fees

ps please send me my consulting fee on wwell u know were

The casino rewarded me with a $100 free chip with 2x max cashout.

They got their money back somehow by just having NT transfer it back out of my account. NT never asked me, they simply went ahead and did it. That is a little unsettling if these people can simply tell NT to give them some of my money and they will do it. I'm not even sure if that is normal procedure but I would have sent it, they didn't have to do it like that. oh, well. Never again (after my free chip) will I play there anyways.

Glad I am on this site now and don't have to guess anymore where to play.

This is "normal procedure", but is also very RUDE given that you were never given the chance to "do the right thing" yourself.

The casino has now shown you the TRUE nature of how MUCH power casinos have over any money held in eWallets, and quite unnecessarily so.

Recent cases have shown that Neteller will return the money ONLY if it is still there, so learn from this, and next time you think this might happen, make sure the money is NOT there for the taking;)

This was a true "bank error", so it was RIGHT that they had the money returned, HOWEVER, Neteller will ALSO do this when the money has been won and paid, but the casino later decides to use it's "F U Clause" because it thinks you are an "advantage player" who abused a bonus. This is what happened years ago with Prime casino, a case which made this arrangement common knowledge.
