repair.exe
The MG Casino Repair tool does indeed repair the infinitely looping casino. It seems to perform an offline repair and update, along with a rebuilding of the Mupinfo file. It saves a very comprehensive log file in WORD format. It takes a while to run, but is faster than getting the casino to update while logged in, even if not playing.
It has to be placed in the program folder containing the casino application to work. It will automatically detect which MG casino you have installed and will perform the repair (you have time for a cuppa at this stage!). There is no definitive end of task, it just stops running but leaves the application window & log open. One way to tell though is the creation of the log file in WORD format, which is the final action it performs. A temporary file called "repair" is also created. I suspect these can be left behind unless you need the space, although there is no real use in keeping them once you are happy with the repaired casino.
I will now have to see if it can improve casinos with other problems. All Slots seems to continually update in the background, and launches games from the upgrade server instead of the local folder.
I have attached the ZIP file containing this tool to this post. It has come from Ning at 32Red by E-mail attachment, and is what it says it is!
Instructions:-
Unzip to any folder, you should have "repair.exe".
Copy "repair.exe" to the program folder of the casino, e.g
C:\program files\loopycasino\
Go to the folder and run the tool by clicking on it. It should show the "red cross" icon. A small window will pop up to ask if you want to run the tool. Click Yes if so.
A larger window with log and progress bar will launch, with Microgaming casino repair tool as title. Time to put the kettle on
It will connect to the upgrade server and repair the casino files, logging each action as it does so. It also notes a summary, but this is a few pages down from the top of the log file rather than at the end.
On completion, it simply stops, but saves a log file in WORD format. You need to then close the repair tool window.
The casino is then repaired (with luck!)
The only other place this tool is currently available is Fortune Lounge, not too obvious and lacking in detailed instructions. I have suggested that 32Red host this on their site with decent instructions and be honest about it working for any MG casino rather than just their own.
I can't host it on vinylweatherman.net as B-ONE do not allow the hosting of files intended for download by visitors as it can clog up the service. Fortunately, it comes under the 100K limit for placing with this post. Bryan could perhaps move it to somewhere much more obvious on this website.
I have just double checked the functionality of the attachment.
Right Click to save target as and Left click should open the usual download to desktop security prompt window (Tested in 98SE).
