I am wondering if this has happened to anyone else playing mg casinos. I always get error messages after i close off the casino time after time. I also know when this will happen as each spin i place on slots shows the same spin as the prior one. My funds get lower no hits and if i do by chance hit free spins i get a different error message and boom i am disconnected. Some might say it is my computer. I find this hard to believe, i have purchased 4 new puters in 3 months all with different virus scans. The one i play casinos on has no virus protection added and i still get these messages. The box that pops up after i close off the casino asks me if i would like to find a new method of logging in that will work with the casino better.

Eh:confused:

Is this the download version, or the Flash version?

The download version. I even went on the other puters and downloaded the casinos and same issues. So I just spent hours deleting mg and playing off comp points. Sorry mg the fun is gone.

Well, I know of NO "alternative method" of logging in other than that provided, so why would the software even make this suggestion.

I have encountered many MG errors, but never anything like this.

Maybe this has recently been introduced, and could be related to the bug in the registration page when "already have an account" is selected when reinstalling a casino. I am having oddities with this on a few reinstalled MGS casinos, and it seems there are several different versions of this registration routine being used, some of which encounter errors.

This could be down to errors in the installer being supplied from the casino website, which causes a corrupt installation that cannot be repaired by the update process.

Installing from the CD might help, although you will have to ask them to send you one.

I often get the 'Error 0' or something like that... Not sure what that is??? Any clue VWM?

I get disconnected and then the error...

Nate

I have seen that one. Error 0 and Error 2 are both types of disconnect. The numbers are not user friendly because they are just numbers, presented to the PLAYER, who has no access to an error code lookup table.

If MGS took the simple step of providing an error code lookup table in the player help pages, many players would be able to use "self help", and make further tests at "their end" before contacting the casino.

Some codes may be specific to an error on the players' PC, but how on earth can we tell without a "friendly error message" or lookup table.

Error codes are common in programming, but are worse than useless without some kind of documentation being provided to the end user as to what the codes indicate.

When I developed programmes for the UK Meteorlogical office, I used error codes, but we were told that we MUST produce user documentation that described what the codes meant, and whether there was any action the user could take, or even action the 24/7 help desk could take.

It was NOT acceptable to tell the customer that they would have to wait for the programmer to get in before so much as a description of the error could be offered.

Another method used by programmers is to have the software produce a log file. This would normally be discarded when all goes well, but would be used to determine the underlying causes of error conditions.

I know of no MGS log file, nor of any lookup table, relating the codes to specific errors.

Given that the MGS suite now occupies over 10Gigabytes, I don't buy any excuse that incorporating such a lookup table would "bloat" the software by any significant amount.

Maybe there IS such a log file function, but one normally turned off when the software is distributed, and with no switch provided to users to switch it on.

It is nevertheless possible to "log" the Viper client using a tool provided by Microsoft, and this MAY indicate something about such errors.

I recently used this tool on a MPV tournament to check whether anything my end was producing the server lag. I found NOTHING, it really IS the incoming results packet that seems to suffer the delays. I also found some VERY odd behaviour indeed, which was that when (in Tomb raider MPV) the result was a bonus round, that packet was NOT "lagged" - something I find VERY odd, and a bit suspicious about whether MGS have been "cheating" players in these tournaments in some way, rather than the games being a purely random series of outcomes as is the case with lobby play.
This all points to the MPV server itself having a coding error that leads to this lag, but this error does NOT kick in when the server RNG produces a bonus round. There is also the matter that in the idol bonus, the third idol ALWAYS pauses for several seconds before displaying the result, as though this one is delivered separately from the other two by the server.

It seems that a number of errors have been allowed to accumulate on the MPV software, just as often happens with the regular lobby updates.

I have noted the pause when the amount is revealed for the third idol... Something I have also experienced is constant disconnects on the Flash version. The download plays well. The software also lags heavily on IE and plays well on Firefox. Chrome has too many lagging spins and disconnects but plays faster than IE....

It seems MG stuff things up constantly with their 'Updates' like the recent registration fiasco.

After i get those messages and close off the casino, i get another pop up box asking if it should look to see what is compatable to use with the casino. sorry typos no glasses

What is your connection speed?
are you on dial up, DSL or cable?

What it sounds like to me is that your losing your connection.
Could very well be your ISP, is dropping packets or load leveling.
Does it happen more during heavy internet traffic times, like right after work or prime time evenings/weekends?

Only when i am in the mg casinos. I use cable internet while i am playing my other computers have no issues while other members of the home are on there.

This looks like a Windows message - it is suggesting the software needs to be run in "compatability mode".

This kind of thing is a known issue with Vista and 7. Try running the casino in "XP compatabilty mode".

It took about a year before Vista was able to work properly with Viper, and no doubt 7 is suffering the same problems.

I have XP, so don't see these messages because XP is old enough that EVERYTHING has now been tuned to work with it.

I don't have Windows 7, but my Mum has it (and is a "pain" because it keeps changing layout after updates). Like XP and upwards, it is possible to set certain programs to run in compatabilty mode.

The Flash problems do seem to be down to choice of browser. IE 8 seems to generate quite a few problems, so if an alternative browser works better, use it.

It seems (above) that Firefox might be the best option for MGS Flash casinos.

Another thing that might help is to get rid of all unnecessary background processes when having these problems, and see if things improve.
