But what is more interesting is Maryland Live! Casino also has an ONLINE CASINO!!!:eek2::D
This would be the first online casino by a state government in United States. This online casino is only free-play for now. You would get $2,500 in free credits to play in blackjack, roulette, slots and poker tournaments. This would be a preview of what a state-operated online casino could look like. I have not yet determined who or what company is the online casino software operator but I have not seen this type of software before. It doesn't look like any Microgaming, Playtech or any other long-time casino software platform. Anyone in the other states is free to play in the online casino. Maryland is already ready to go to real online casino play ahead of New Jersey. Check out: You must register/login in order to see the link.

The link to their online casino just goes to gameaccount, a skill games operator with an Alderney license. It then claims that I can't play at an operator with an Alderney license because of my country's regulations. Being the UK, this is bullshit, I can play anywhere at my own risk, but Alderney is UK whitelisted, so even under the UK rules, not only can I play there, but they can advertise on TV here.

So, what is the connetion between Maryland live and gameaccount(dot)com?

I know Aristocrat are involved, but I am not aware of any rules that prohibit Aristocrat from offering their games to UK players.

Has the state of Maryland screwed up somehow, and botched their webdesign so that a bogus connection crops up?

I can visit the main land casino site, and book a trip out there to play.

I can only imagine they have a deal with gameaccount so that non US visitors to their website are forwarded to gameaccount, but it is clearly botched.

    Press release from April:

Aristocrat Launches First Online Casino Solution

Maryland Live! Casino To Use Myliveonlinecasino.com to Promote Brand, Gain Players
    Even Before Opening Its Doors

LAS VEGAS (April 27, 2012) – Aristocrat is live with a play-for-fun site for Maryland Live! Casino, a new $500M gaming and entertainment destination, currently in development in Hanover, MD. The site, You must register/login in order to see the link., is live now and will be used as a vehicle for the brick-and-mortar casino to promote its brand and attract players well in advance of its scheduled opening on June 6, 2012.

The site is the first of its kind in the gaming industry, where a play-for-fun solution is integrated with a casino management system. The online casino is linked to the land-based casino through an exclusive tool of Aristocrat’s Oasis 360™ casino management system, giving Maryland Live! Casino an incredible competitive advantage.

Using an online casino to attract players to a yet-to-open brick-and-mortar casino is also a first.

“We are absolutely thrilled to launch Myliveonlinecasino.com, Maryland Live! Casino’s online play-for-fun solution. Aristocrat has consistently led the industry in systems and in games. Now to launch such a site is a very exciting milestone in our company’s history, and in the history of the gaming industry,” said Aristocrat Vice President of System Sales and Marketing Kelly Shaw.

Myliveonlinecasino.com was created with the power of Aristocrat’s nLive solution, recently recognized by Casino Journal on its Top 20 Most Innovative Gaming Technology Products Awards for 2011. nLive was the only Internet Gaming System to make the list.

nLive is a simple, turnkey solution that empowers casinos to take their brand to players online. nLive sites are branded to the casino, not to Aristocrat, so the casino’s customers can extend their experience with the property brand they know and enjoy.

In this case, Myliveonlinecasino.com will be used to increase awareness and attract players to the Maryland Live! Casino brand prior to opening, in order to develop a customer database.

“The launch of Myliveonlinecasino.com enables us to pre-enroll customers into our Live! Rewards players club database and begin tailoring rewards to members before they even visit Maryland Live! Casino,” said Robert J. Norton, President & General Manager, Maryland Live! Casino. “The opportunity to reach our customers in advance of our opening is an invaluable benefit of Aristocrat’s nLive solution.”

Myliveonlinecasino.com is an online casino fully branded to the Maryland Live! Casino. This play-for-fun casino offers players an incredible range of games, including some of Aristocrat’s favorite games like 5 Dragons™, 50 Lions™, Big Red™, Imperial House™, Miss Kitty™, More Chilli™, Queen of the Nile™ and Sun and Moon™; table games like card keno, hi lo solitaire, jacks or better, pro blackjack and roulette; and skill-based games including backgammon, dominoes, poker, poker dice, solitaire and tournament blackjack.

When the brick-and-mortar casino opens, the casino and Myliveonlinecasino.com will be linked with Aristocrat’s nLiveLink via Aristocrat’s Oasis 360 system. nLiveLink will empower Maryland Live! Casino to simultaneously monitor player activity at the actual casino and in the online casino, allowing the property to create rewarding offers based on the player’s total gaming experience, live and virtual.

“nLive and nLiveLink are providing the tools to expand a players total gaming experience today, and they are generational steps forward. There is a lot of talk from a lot of suppliers about how they are planning to do this or that; however, the fact is, only Aristocrat has delivered real, live, workable solutions that are available now,” Shaw said.

Oasis 360, recently named Best Player Tracking System in the 2012 Goldman Sachs Slot Manager Survey, will monitor all 4,750 devices at Maryland Live! Casino.

It would seem they are keeping this site purely for in-state access. It seems over the top for a free play demo, but the press release suggests that it is not just a demo, but a way of signing up players, so perhaps they are being extra cautious over the regulations.

What is odd though is that I don't get a message that says Maryland live is blocking me, but that gameaccount(dot)com is, which apart from also using Aristocrat games, is nothing to do with the Maryland casinos. It then wrongly tells me that I can't play at gameaccount because of my country, which turns out to be wrong.

Why not have a simple "not valid in your country" block message? Why the redirection to another supplier that is illegal in the US in any case. This drops the other supplier in it as it both connects them to the Maryland casino, and then tells the player, wrongly in some cases, that they are not allowed to play.

Many non-US people will out of curiosity want to have a look at the first US legal online casino, but instead find what looks like the kind of amateurish tactics employed by some MGS casinos after they pulled out of the US, one example being visitors to their websites being redirected to Jackpot Capital instead, which created suspicion that both were part of the same company, when all it was turned out to be a "kickback" deal so that the MGS casino could at least make a referral fee out of the US traffic it had to reject.

It's a bit murky for a state, rather than a private business, to embroil itself in this kind of thing, especially when they seem to have botched the way non-US traffic is referred to their paymasters so that they are wrongly told they are not allowed to play even there.

It also gives me the impression that even if I was visiting in person, I would be barred from the Maryland casino in any case because I was not from the state.

Imagine this in Vegas, and giving the impression that Vegas was for US citizens only through the way the websites promoting Vegas interact with non-US traffic. A fair bit of revenue at Vegas comes from out of state, and even out of the country. For those outside the US, Vegas is by far the most well known gambling destination. There are others, but most are not well known outside the US, and probably do not feature in plans for a "casino holiday" to the US.

The UK has had these "fully electric casinos" for years. They can be found at the end of pretty much every decent pier, and littering the coastal strip at many major seaside resorts. The only drawback is the bloody kids getting in the way and jumping on your game the minute you go to change down some notes:mad:

I've played alot of their slots on website for fun...Aristocrat games are tough to win at in land based, but I wish the online casino would add a few more new ones. The ones that are there have been up for about 2 months now. More chili is alot of fun and I've played this land based too.

Aristocrat are aiming to have about 30 games online by the end of 2012 although some of these are at Bet365 and seperate to the GameAccount deal which is an exclusive. GameAccount powers other sites which take players from the UK and beyond: Maryland Live will ONLY accept players from in-State.

It is for fun only and yes it is designed to get players signed up with a view to the longer term. In time I would fully expect them to have more games but right now only Aristocrat have taken the plunge to allow freeplay. IGT and WMS will surely follow at some point, especially as they have now bought large social gaming entities recently for top dollar. That can only mean one thing. But for now they still won't allow fun play until regulation is dusted.

When you switch to other games, you have to CASHOUT first from the current game before leaving that game in order to "carry" your chips with you to another table or slot. Just like you would in a real casino. :D

Man, that roulette is really fun. I love the fact that you can spin the wheel with no bets placed, bet the minimum of .50 or bet as much as you want maximally. I would love to find an online casino that has a roulette game you can play as freely as that. Real play that is.

IMO, not the first U.S. online casino because no real money can be played. There are several online poker sites coming online in Vegas, Golden Nugget for one that's free play now but waiting for their license.

It appears the first real online casino will be in Delaware, just signed by the Governor. First real online poker sites will be in Nevada.

That at least explains the connection. It is a pity their "bad country" page is so misleading, as it implies I can't play at gameaccount, rather than that specific site. I have also noticed that you CANNOT "play for fun" at the other gameaccount sites, so maybe this is to prevent non-US players having a "play for fun" option for gameaccount.

If it is just a case of Maryland casino having a "white label" solution for their online offering, it is not exactly "ground breaking" news. I was expecting this to be fully in-house.

It may not fail, but the next attempt will probably be better implemented, and attract more players. If they can only accept in-state residents, they will be at a further disadvantage, as land casinos let anyone play if they can get there, in-state, out of state, and even foreign.

For global players used to casinos that have players from many countries, these small US in-state operations will look pretty insignificant. This might give them less standing should they then go global as regulations change.
