I've been trying to withdraw my modest balance of less than £100 from this casino and have sent them scans of driving licence and bank statement. They are being very awkward, however, claiming that these are insufficient for establishing identity and want passport (mine ran out in 2007) or national ID card (we don't have in UK)! They've said they're prepared to accept birth certificate; trouble is, mine's been lost somewhere in the house for at least ten years. (Can you all lay your hands on your's?) Other casinos have been content with an image of the debit card but, curiously, Mansion haven't asked for this. Does anyone out there have any advice or similar experience that might help me? Otherwise I don't quite know what to do to get my money back....help!

Is this a new style PHOTO driving licence, or old paper one?

You can get a copy birth certificate with reasonable ease. The registrar will still need to confirm your ID, but they know how the UK works, and therefore will NOT ask for something that the UK government does not issue.

You can get a "National proof of age" card with a photo for £10. This is the ONLY "National photo ID" one can get in the UK apart from the passport and drivers licence, which the government are keen to stress are NOT "ID cards", and were never intended to be used as such. The passport renewal is the most expensive, with an upgrade to a photo driving licence second (still around £50 though).

The replacement birth certificate or proof of age card are the cheapest options.

Thanks, vinylweatherman, for replying. Unfortunately, my driving licence is one of the old-fashioned paper ones. I didn't know about the photo ID card which you mention so perhaps I'll go down that route!:)

Excuse me, but I don't believe you don't have any modern means to prove your ID, especially when you are a UK resident. If this is a problem for Mansion, I wouldn't blame them for this, especially when it is written in their terms that you must prove your ID on cash out, and at the registration you approved that. It is your responsibility to get a suitable ID, then, and I don't believe you cannot arrange it in the UK. I live in Hungary that is by far not as advanced as the UK, still I can do that. So I doubt you can't. I hardly believe that a UK resident don't have anything to prove his ID.

Aren't you an immigrant by chance? Anyway, send in your expired passport then. Sometimes that also works. There were occasions when I had to send in my Passport, it was expired, but accepted.
