I am going to visit Malta in mid-June (Gozo actually) and since many of you work or at least visited Malta frequently I'd like to ask if you have some tips where you can eat, what you MUST SEE, and what else you can do in 6 days.
Thanks for everything you can share :)

    Hi Hedgehok!

I lived in Malta for a year, but only visited Gozo twice. I have a few tips for you..

    1. Go to San Lawrenz in Gozo one evening and eat in Tatitas Restaurant. It's a gorgeous restaurant in the centre of the village with INCREDIBLE food and great outdoor tables looking out onto the square. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of food and wine you get!

    Malta (Gozo) journey: Tatita's.jpg,May 27, 2015

    2. Take a boat trip from Gozo to Blue Lagoon in the island of Camino, where you can snorkel in clear blue water and sunbathe for the day.

    Malta (Gozo) journey: Blue Lagoon.jpg,May 27, 2015

    3. Get the boat across to Malta and visit Mdina, the walled city is the former capital of Malta and was built in 870. There's plenty of great bars and restaurants within the walls and is a great place to spend an afternoon (it was also featured in Game of Thrones Season 1 as Kings Landing)

I hope you enjoy your trip! Make sure to let us know how you get on!

Rachel, thanks a lot, that is really inspiring.
I wasn't considering visiting Mdina at all but I love Game of Thrones. I will definitely visit that place.

Andy & Keith: A pub crawl! Great stuff. I will suggest that to my mates (they are both english natives, I am not :D) and I think we can arrange something.

I usually take my time for a vacation @Vegas or Malta.

It´s a beautiful small island, friendly people and some good food over there.

    - go to Marsaxlokk for some fresh fish. You get the catch of the day over there for a few bucks, really good food. One time we went there and had a 8 hour stay at a restaurant, paying less than 200 bucky for 4 people (drinking and eating all time -> jep we get drunk hehe).

    - visit a maltese casino. I like the Oracle Casino @St. Pauls Bay. Beautiful place and a lot of machines.

    - you should stop at Paceville for at least one night of party. You can have great fun at the clubs and perhaps meet some affiliate mangers for a coffee the next morning (many online casinos have their facilities over there).

    - Mdina is a great place. Have some good food at the "silent city". Good view over the island from there.

    - take boat trip or two: grand harbour cruise is duty for every visitor. Freat fun and enjoy some Cisk lagers while cruising (great maltese beer).

There is much to do @Malta. Enjoy!

Oh, I am jealous. I visited Malta 3 years ago, and the only rep that bought me a beer was IanO who was living there at that time. Where were you Andy?

I've been quite a few places, and the blue lagoon is probably the most beautiful water I have ever swam in. If you are on a budget, there are water taxis to take you there that are much cheaper than a boat cruise. The beach is uber crowded, but the lagoon is large so once you are swimming it is not crowded at all.

I don't think I had a bad meal in Malta. Order rabbit at least once, it's the national dish, and is very expensive many other countries. There are also these little pastry shops that sell sausage rolls and savory pies, including one with cheese and peas that is traditional maltese. Very cheap, great for grabbing a little something to tide you over, or a quick lunch on the run during a busy day. Pizza is excellent, fresh seafood everywhere, outdoor patios overlooking the water, even at McDonalds.

I visited Portofino casino, my feeling was a little meh.

I will try post a few of my pics from my visit.

This website I found pretty informative, but it looks like it is out of date. You must register/login in order to see the link..

You must try Kinnie. I think it is an acquired taste. Gotta give Cisk a big thumbs up.

Bring good shoes. I don't know how they do it, but everywhere is uphill somehow.

Pretty much every weekend all summer is a long weekend, and a festival or two happening. They love fireworks, there are displays somewhere or other very frequently.

Gibraltar definitely has its appeal, dont get me wrong :p But clear waters like that aren't really found around here. We're pretty even on the Sunshine front though thankfully!

Oh my! I'd love to go purely for the ancient ruins. For such a small island there is much to boast of in the megalithic sites department.

Well it's a family holiday, so I've only allowed 1 day for casino people, and arranged to meet Keith & Lucas (Tivoli) - but if others want to come I'm sure my kids would love to have others to jump all over! :p

It is a long and fascinating history. I've been to Malta a few times and have visited these ruins; it was really interesting to hear about these very early Malta residents and how they arrived there. I had previously been fascinated by the tales of the Ottoman siege and the Templars, but the earlier history is just as fascinating.

Beautiful island and very pleasant people too - lots to see and do, and thoroughly recommended.
