Major Tom - New Red Flush/La Vida casino with batshit crazy autoplay T&Cs

Got a very glossy mailer delivered to the house today, advertising the MAJOR TOM CASINO (complete with a patriotic Union Jack!).

SUB seems pretty decent, 50 free spins on Dr Watts Up, and a 150% deposit bonus up to £150 on a 30xB WR.

Needless to say my spidey sense was tingling when I saw they were brought to me by the group behind Red Flush and Casino La Vida (as you can see in the mailer), so I decided to have an extra careful read of the T&Cs. (I actually quite fancied a crack at the SUB, a £250 bankroll for a £100 deposit on a 30xB WR isn't too bad.)

Alas, it didn't take me too long to find this.....

Major Tom wants you to use this bonus to experience the games first hand and would prefer if you did not use the autoplay feature in order to meet wagering requirements. In fact Major Tom Management reserves the right to void winnings should management deem that the autoplay feature was used (in this instance). May seem like a strange term but then Major Tom is quite a quirky character.

Major Tom is a quirky character? Since when did the 'character traits' of an entirely invented person belong in the T&Cs of the sister casino of a double-accredited group?

Needless to say I shall not be availing myself of any of their 'FRESH NEW GAMING EXPERIENCE', even though they are, apparently, 'FAIR, FUN AND FABULOUS'.

Sheesh.

"Ashes to ashes, funk to funky. We know major tom's a junkie. Strung out in heaven's high. Hitting an all-time low"

Junkie? Major Tom was completely bollocksed when he came up with that fantastic term! As you alluded to, the term is not in good faith and in fact I will give Major Tom his own foil hat for this space oddity as well as confirming that if this site has set its stall out with terms like that it is somewhere I too will certainly avoid!
Over and out. Back to Mars....

For some bizarre reason an identical mailer has turned up in the post today, except my first name is spelt a bit differently on the front.

Oh well, it'll get filed in the same place as the last one :D

(I did actually make a deposit into 3Dice instead and turned my modest VIP bonus into a pretty nice withdrawal, which was in my Neteller account in exactly 14 minutes, which is a lot better than the several days it'd take me to get paid by Major Tom, assuming they run to the same kinds of schedules that Red Flush and La Vida do, with long pending reversible periods and weekends that 'don't exist' when it comes to the passage of time, and then deciding they want your docs, and so on.)

Good on ya Chops :) I'm not a fan. There has been nothing but complaints, stuff-ups, spam, and predatory T&Cs since Major Tom first reared his ugly head! Hmmm Major Tom does seem like a junkie ;)

Spam

As you guys know, I started a shame the spammers thread a while back. I've never had Red Thrush issues until today, whereby I get this little gem! Although it's not from Major Tom himself, the spam is Red thrush from 'tom' a suitable alias...

Red Flush group (including Lavida and Major Tom) is one of the best MGS group. Much much better than Fortune Lounge and Palace Group taken together. When was the last you read about Red Flush not paying anybody?

PS And btw Casino Rewards has this kind of rule for ages. And no complaints.

Thanks. I deleted the e-mail but have PM'd you the address I received it to - all you need to do is add the http: to the disabled link I posted and you'll have the target.

Not really.

The outcomes SHOULD be the same regardless of whether autoplay or the mouse is used. What next, winnings confiscated because someone used the space bar or enter key instead of their mouse:confused:

For slots, many players set up and use the autoplay for almost the entire session. This is to save their tendons so that the hundreds of naff spins between bonus rounds doesn't give them a disabled hand for a couple of days. The casino cannot tell between a player using autoplay to move to the next bonus round, and one buggering off to watch TV whilst the game just plays.

All the slots except the very oldest prohibit autoplay from continuing through a feature. Some will end at the start of a feature, and others when it is over. It means that every feature requires a manual intervention from the player.

If autoplay is a massive problem, best get rid of it altogether, or press MGS to disable it when any bonus is in play.

Although most players won't fall foul of the "spirit" of this term, it induces the fear that it will be invoked as a reason to void a win from any bonus.

There should be many ways to set the software to prevent "abuse" of the "spirit of the promotion". For example, there is an existing facility to have the range of coin sizes changed depending on whether or not a bonus is in play. An extension of this to increase the minimum coin value to 0.05 or 0.02 on some slots should tackle some of the "spirit violations".

Using the software to manage the problem has the same effect, but does not expose the casino to accusations of having "batshit crazy" terms that belong only in the rogue category.

Software enforcement should not bother the type of loyal player the casino wants to attract, as they probably won't even notice the restrictions because they will be betting within the "recreational range" expected, rather than at the extremes permitted under the terms.

Terms have indeed been changed and by all accounts autoplay for slots should be fine, it's just 'non-slot' autoplay that might be frowned upon.

With that crazy term gone, this does now look like a pretty decent SUB offer, and I wouldn't rule out having a go at it myself :)

The only non slot game that I am aware of that offers this possibility is Blackjack, and in the days where Blackjack play often made a bonus +EV, this was often how bonuses were milked. This term should now not be necessary as Blackjack is weighted so that it takes far more wagering than on slots to clear WR, and the outcome will be -EV.

Some Blackjack games don't even have autoplay, and all Video Poker games had it removed a while back.

Officially, they wish that the players would take the time to "discover" the games, and getting the game on autospin while sitting in the other room is against the "spirit of the bonus".

In reality though, banning autoplay does nothing for them other than hoping that the players get impatient and up their bets (and eventually lose) instead of grinding. It will not stop real AP's.

I did actually try to have a go at this bonus last night, but after installing the software and creating my account, then opening a CS chat to ascertain if the bonus is automatically added or not, (it's automatic and based on your deposit amount), I then found that Neteller wasn't a deposit option.

Went back to CS who said Neteller should definitely be there as an option, and I said it definitely wasn't, he went away for a while and said he was very sorry but couldn't understand why I couldn't see Neteller as it should be there and it was in fact their preferred way of depositing.

He asked if I had an alternative method of depositing and I said that whilst I did, I wouldn't be depositing as I exclusively use Neteller for all casino finances, thanked him for his time, closed the chat window and closed the casino down.

The whole thing took a good 30 minutes from start to finish, (the CS was fine, but a bit slow on responses), by which time I decided I couldn't be arsed gambling after all and watched a film instead :D

They don't appear to have their own CS though, because the first question the CS asked me was what my account name was and which casino I was playing at.

Well there are 3 casinos in the group, so I think that is a perfectly reasonable question for them to ask.

However, the rest of your comments do indicate that Red Flush do need to improve their support quite considerably. I admire your patience of sticking with it for 30 minutes - 5 minutes of slow responses is about as much as I will put up with before shutting it down & going to play somewhere else!

As a lowballer, this is ridiculous! if im grinding £500 worth of WR's on 50p/spin, they expect me to sit there playing 1000 spins manually? beyond stupid.

pretty much the only time i dont use autoplay on slots is if im playing £1+ and thats rare!

No it's not stupid. The whole point is they don't want players "grinding the WR".
Bonuses are given as an incentive to sign-up and try out the casino to see if players like the games, the CS and all other aspects they have to offer. They are not intended to just be used by "advantage hunters" who are just trying to extract the maximum cash value for any bonus they see.
Casinos are intended to be used by people who actually LIKE plying in casinos. This conundrum for the casinos, is that they can't tell in advance which type of person is signing-up. It's because of these "advantage hunters" that the casinos have to put in so many convoluted T&Cs to try to discourage their style of play, but that unfortunately puts-off the "genuine" players and means the casino can't offer more generous promotions.

Don't get me wrong - there is nothing wrong with taking a bonus and trying to win using it - I've been doing that for years! But I don't just systematically bet in the way which gives me the best mathematical advantage - I actually like playing the games and playing the game of trying to beat the WR with a profit!

The revised terms are better targeted, so the use of slot autospin should no longer be a problem.

I said before, quite often I speak to the same people with the same S.African accents ranging from Jackpot City to Wild Jack etc. Different groups but all obviously use the same outsourced CS for their Viper platforms. Normally they don't give that away by asking 'which casino' but ask for your account number, with would start 'vjcxxx' for viper-Jackpot City or vwjxxx for Wild Jacks and therefore can tell from that which casino you are referring to.

At Major Tom your username is your email address, I think that's how it works for MG casinos these days.

However it works I'd really expect basic information like that to be passed to the CS through the chat client so they can see it at their end.

1) Username
2) Casino
3) Platform (download, flash)

He had to ask me all those questions, and also couldn't verify that I couldn't see Neteller as a deposit option, just that I should have been able to.

Either way it put me off enough to end up not depositing anywhere :D

No, on most MG viper platforms you get a specific casino ID that takes the format of those I exemplified above. Some, like Dash let you have your own ID of your choice. Major Tom must be like Dash then with no pre-allocated ac no. I do share the POV that the chat portal should identify your account, and it probably does but they need to confirm the information for DP and security purposes.
