After the sad news that Betsafe stopped UK players on Monday I joined LVbet as they were accredited here. Big mistake.

Signed up, verified account then deposited a couple of hundred, played for 30 minutes then had all real play disabled. Support wanted me to send a photo of me holding todays date on a piece of white paper :what:

Took the photo, sent through and all verified.

Today their responsible gambling team sent me a email saying they were concerned about I had used 60% of my credit limit (they had my credit card bill for address proof) on food shopping and a purchase at Superdrug last month. :what:

I wrote back informing them that I have never used my credit card for gambling as it is impossible to do so from the UK. They have now said we will let you know on Monday when that department gets back from the weekend if they will allow me to play here again.

So I have now requested a withdrawal and closed my account. Is it any wonder casinos are leaving the UK.

They are a decent casino, but the teams involved in dealing with this type of stuff don't seem the best
I told them I was self employed, and they replied asking for payslips showing my employers name and address,
A SoW/RG department who don't know if you are self employed, you don't have payslips or an employer aren't one I would trust my financial details with. I mean that is just very basic low level knowledge needed to know that.

It’s getting beyond a joke when a agent from a casino seems to think they can act as your chartered accountant.

it would be comical if it wasn’t so serious.

I get casinos have to do this due to regulations, but surely train your staff better.. it’s really not rocket science.

also have you reached out to the LV bet rep on here? They are decent and helpful as I’ve had experience with them in the past.

They have absolutely no right to question your personal spending via a method which casino
can no longer accept.Really pissed off with inquisitions about spending habits and I have
started to bite back,Mecca spent 20 mins going through my finances yesterday for my bi
monthly can i afford it check, told the woman I find the questions very intrusive and annoying,
I dont care if they ban me, Sick of the shit, doesnt matter to me what the casinos
obligations are , they are asking way too much.

Thing is they can and will now.

best advice I could and can give is find a few casinos that you are sow/kyc ok with and use them.

It’s really too much of a minefield now even risking your cash anywhere unless you had previous dealings with the brand or know them.

I went from from over 20 active casinos to just 3, it’s really not worth the hassle or risk anymore.

Thanks for the advice, which one did you recently join?

Not sure why I can’t get the above quote..like everyone else when replying?

Never thought I'd see the day that UK residents get treated like lepers from the online gambling world. Pretty soon we'll see a "U.K. The Pretty" thread right below the "America The Beautiful" one segregated from the rest of the gambling world :D
Canada went through this for years as a grey/unregulated market, wasnt fun..and there's still loads of softwares and umbrella providers we cant use.

Now, it's more you lot as an over-regulated market.

Somewhere, right now, an Australian player is going 'pff!,' as an American is eating popcorn looking in :D

I had similar a while ago, not from LVbet but as in I was contacted by a casino questioning my 7% utilisation of credit cards up from 4% and no mortgage showing up, even tho i pay them in full every month, and im mortgage free, I mean WTF!

This just proves to me that more and more casinos are looking at credit files and we're gonna see far more strange requests, and not sure they should be using that info like that.

Having said that, I find the bigger UK licenced casinos do seem to have a better grip on what's required, are no where near as intrusive and are more sensible about the whole AML RG SOW etc

But it is all getting a bit silly now for what was once a fun past time.

To be honest the only thing that completely sucks for us Aussie players is certain providers we cant play any more (still ways around that at a small number of casinos using VPN) and that we don't have a guarantee that we can be protected by the regulators since we are playing at Curacao based sites. As long as we stick to ones with good reputations and accept withdrawal limits like 5000 - 10000 per week instead of being paid out in one lump sum the rest is more or less normal.

On the plus side, most of the operators you are all crying about that have you on 92 - 94% RTP we get to play at the high 96% settings :D

I see the rep read this thread two hours, now awaiting a response to my private message asking for an update on my withdrawal.

All being well, this will be actioned soon as my account is already verified. One good thing, I leave this casino with more than I deposited!

The hunt starts now for another casino to play at

What happens if you'd have done a balance transfer for the 0% interest, would that have made a difference:rolleyes:

Funnily enough i try to send in something like a Council Tax bill for most places as i've always thought some places might go - 'why you buying this?' etc if i sent them in CC statement.

BTW Superdrug have a nice supply of strawberry flavour gummy chewable vitamins for those who hate swallowing the hard tablets. :p

We're now into funny season - so what if your balance is 60%? You use it for food shopping? So do i. You get 30 days interest free so mine is likely to be higher than that at a given them and then zero'd the next week (or if playing bonanza that month the 60% goes to 160% utilisation rate)

I use a bank account for casinos that has no other transactions on, or any payments in or out to family, companies even friends lol

What the OP and others have been asked about their spending and credit cards etc is outrageous, and in my world the casinos would be blacklisted.

I fund my gaming with an account used exclusively for that and nothing else, the account balance was built up by a lucky streak earlier in the year and the gaming transactions are all shown.I consider this as absolute proof of source of funds and will give nothing else to the casinos. As far I am concerned any earnings and personal spending info is
nothing to do with them, they can either accept that or not.
I could provide info which would pass affordability and SOW instantly anywhere but
wont out of principle.

I laughed a little too much at this. I would not wish the fate of the USA on my worse enemy. It has been miserable, wild west style for years. I do not jump through hoops for any casino so i stick to playing at 2. IMO it is wrong on so many levels for them to have nosed into your personal credit card purchases. I might not be able to play at this casino but i sure would be livid if it were me.

The casino analyzed this poor guy's credit card spending history and was concerned about
him spending a certain percentage at their establishment. Meanwhile, I'm fairly certain that the characters
who questioned him don't know their asses from a whole in the wall when it comes to money management.

If an online casino ever asked me for credit/debit card statements because they wanted to analyze
my spending history, I'd tell them to go suck on a railroad spike. Who do they think they are? Charles Schwab

Hi everyone,

First of all, apologies for not answering earlier, as I told @ritae in in a Private Message, I tend to not take my work laptop with me home on the weekends in an attempt to balance out some work / life balance. Her withdrawal was indeed paid out.

Secondly, I understand the hate, perhaps a bit of a strong word, dislike of the actions that had to be taken in this regards. Unfortunately, like I have previously stated in multiple threads, certain decisions like this are forced onto us or rather are the best option to go for us due to the regulations related to Affordability under the UKGC legislation.

Third and mainly related to the second point, there's not that many options that casinos can use in order to evaluate this affordability part. 1) We can either run credit checks as certain casinos do on every UK Registration, which will be visible on your credit score + it's quite expensive to do. 2) We can rely on the documents and explanations provided by our users.

Either one of those isn't exactly the best option to provide a great experience to our UK Customer base.
