The term was created by somebody else. It's actually called Scratch Ticket slots. Every spin is played as if it's a scratch ticket with the reels having no rythym. Basically, the reels change every spin and it displays the results. Companies such as Yggdrasil, Red Tiger and Game Arts are known for this and I also feel Blueprint is guilty of it as well. The slot play isn't smooth and logical in this case.
I see. I think once upon a time I looked into the JavaScript used to do the reel animations on a netent game and it was all entirely random so I guess some companies just do better jobs of making it appear smoother. Bierhaus is probably my favourite game for mid spin reel animations.
I have to say though that I'm pretty sure red tiger gaming will never see another cent from me because of the rage their scatter slow mo gave me. I actually enjoy quite a few of their games but on a recent session I kept getting the slow mo 3rd scatter teases which deliberately slow down just to slide off everytime and thought it was exploitative because there is nothing near miss about it....just a cynical attempt to induce some tilt.
