Losing Every Month Should I Switch Casinos?

Hello everyone Ive been gambling on line since January of 2003 and I only play at one casino. I have deposited roughly $39,980.00 in the time Ive been playing and cashed out $6,000.00. I play every game except lotto but lately I cant seem to hit anything. Do you think I should change casinos or just completely stop playing all together? Is this normal for it to run like this?

Others here would be better able to advise you Goodie, as I am strictly a slots player, and only Microgaming slots at that. That sure doesn't seem like a very good ratio to me (roughly 15%)? If it were me, I would definitely try another casino, but that's just me. We'd probably need to know how you bet (high-roller or low-roller), what games you play most, etc. And you don't have to name the casino you've been playing at, but which software is it? The best one to help you may be KasinoKing, he seems to come out ahead almost every month. :notworthy

Goodie: unless you have an income tax related reason for losing $800 or so each month, I would say you should try another casino! After having played online for ten years or so, I am behind by less than $300 for all deposits I have EVER made. I don't expect it would be much fun if I lost my shirt every month. Perhaps though you have a reason for wanting to lose this money?:eek2:

Hi Goodie2Shoes,
It seems a poor outcome. There are several possible reasons for this.
1) You tend to keep playing until you lose it all, even if you hit a good win, in the hopes that you'll get an even bigger win to cover for past losses, or you reverse withdrawals often
2) You don't set goals in your playing, e.g. win to triple (or 10x or whatever) my deposit, then withdraw, maybe keep a little bit for further play
3) You don't set a deposit/loss limit for each month
4) You have been extremely unlucky
5) You use progressive betting, i.e. increase your bets as you win (brings you down real quick if you don't know when to stop...of course makes it possible to get real big wins, too, but that's rare)
6) The software has a very poor return % (say, 80-85%) and you play slots only
7) the software is a complete rip off

If you're playing at any reputable MG casino, or other Casino that's using solid software, you should be withdrawing more than that if you play in a disciplined manner.

For comparison, I myself am a not-very-disciplined-gambler, and I for one tend to go for the big wins at the risk of losing it all. So, for comparison, my style has resulted in about 40% return for the past year or so (5-figure gambling budget for the year). That's not a good return, but it's my fault, my style of play is causing the losses, not the casino software. If I'd chosen to withdraw every time I had a decent winning session, I'd be pretty much even, or maybe even ahead for this year. But it's my choice, I'm in it for the thrill of getting a big win. Now and then they do happen...However, lately I've deemed my style of play a bit too expensive as entertainment, and I'm changing my style of play now (new year's promises...)

Like you, lately I don't seem to be hitting anything at all. It's been going on for months. But it'll change, and there'll be a winning session or two at some point, when I'll have a chance to even things out a bit.

Which Casino is this?

Cheers,
SM

Thank all of you for your replies and to try to answer your questions, I bet different amounts from 9 cents and the most Ive ever bet is 10.00 not very often though. I do hit sometimes not at all big but slotmachine has explained me to a point. My husband and i are both retired I'm a retired nurse and he is a retired transport driver and we do bring in a fair amount of money and as far as gambling i don't like losing my money but thats part of gambling my biggest complaint lately is i can deposit say 100.00 and its gone before i know it. I play mostly slots and at a very reputable MG casino. I did download 32red casino and I think I will give them a try today. I will let you know how I do, and thank you so much for the replies.

Hi,

Looks like you are down $34K for 102 weeks...roughly $335/week...$40-$50 per day. At 4-5 hours play/day...roughly $10/hour.

This is not a horrible "entertainment" fee (if you can afford it).

I would echo a previous poster that you might need to visit the "cashin" button a little more often. Every member here has regrets in that department...lol.

By limiting your play to one MG casino, you miss the bonus offers from all the others. Some of these are 100% match which would extend your play and reduce your expense. Be sure to read the T&C for the wager requirements and game/s restriction.

For example...Ruby Fortune has a banner here at CM...400% on your 1st deposit...deposit $50...get $200.

Good Luck,

the dUck

There've been some very good posts by some of our members here. I'm just going to add a bit of my experience - I'd say that my numbers are close to yours in losses over the last few years - but on the other hand, I have had a huge amount of play for that money as well. On the other hand, in 2004 I dropped more than $10K in Vegas in four days at the Aladdin for far, far less play - and playing penny and nickel slots to boot!

Without knowing exactly how much play time you are getting for your money, it would be very hard to say whether you were getting good value or not. I will say, however, that playing at MG casinos should not vary too much so I'm going to guess either you got very good entertainment value, or else you played some huge house edge games.

If you're thinking about quitting, that leads me to believe that you're either a bit worried about the finances, or think you can find a better deal at the land-based casinos. My opinion is that you will probably find a better deal playing online! But if finances are a bit tight, I'd either consider setting a fixed budget per week for entertainment, or else stop for a bit and find a few other alternatives.

Downloading another casino will not make things any better - though you won't go wrong with 32Red. Either you have luck, or you don't.

Whatever you do, best wishes :)

At first glance your deposit figure freaked me out! But when I checked mine for the same time period I found mine is roughly half that.
Still scary stuff though! :eek2:
The big difference is my withdrawals exceed my deposits over those two years by just under $6,400.
It must be said that this has got to be down to the use of bonuses. I don't abuse them though - I play a variety of different games - including slots.

Goodie, I agree with the others above: If you are losing more than you feel comfortable with then you need to change your playing style by either being 'tighter' or bonus hunting. If you don't think you can do this then I would urge you to stop gambling altogether.

Whatever you do - good luck!

If I looked at my stats, I'd freak out too...
this is why I dont keep track NOR look at them!!!:D

Ok, this thread finally got me to make my first post. I have been playing on line for a few years now and have done quite bad. I would do better if I would just cash out when I am up rather than try for a big win to cover my losses. The problem is that the more you do that, the larger the loss that you're trying to cover.

I downloaded 32 Red, signed up and tried to deposit but they don't accept USA credit cards (even pre-paid Visa). I will not pay the western union fees ( and do NOT use net teller or Click to pay anymore due to bad experience with both) in order to deposit there. They would do much better if they would get the USA CC deal going.

Good luck to you all.

YAK

P.S.
I'm afraid to look at my stats too!!!!
