Long posts without interspace

Please...

KK has made these comments before, and I don't think he'd care if I made a 'light-hearted' post similar to his, directed at him, nor would you.

Would you like me to make some 'light-hearted' posts directed at you, b/c I'd LOVE TO?!!

I'd expect you say something like that.

You know you were having a REAL dig at KK and so do I.

Why not stand by your opinions and not use the 'I was only kidding' gambit.

KK pointed out that your posts tend to be long which was NOT personal or character-related.

You came back with several personal comments which were anything BUT light-hearted.

I wonder what you would think if he said "All hail john steed"?

I wasn't kidding. I never suggested otherwise. Your points are moot. You have your own agenda here, but you're likely not going to acknowledge it. I seem to recall you taking shots more than once at KK, so spare me your VERY fake stance.

I half-expected you to jump in on this thread, a tedency that you seem to repeat, so you're not much better.

What is your definition of "jumping in on a thread"

Isn't that what everyone beside the OP does?

That's the best that you can do? Is there an emoticon for 'yawn'?

Can we please get back on topic (line stolen from the 'Nifty' playbook).

It is a legitimate question.

How can I be accused of something when even you cant explain what it is?

Either explain what you mean or do the right thing and withdraw the accusation.

FWIW I believe the emoticon for "yawn" is " :johnsteed: "

Really? You're not clever enough to know what 'jumping in on this thread' is driving at?

I always expect this sort of thing from you, because you do it - literally - every day. It's not an accusation, it's a fact. It's a fact, because as anyone can see for themself, if you:

- click on 'Nifty29'
- click on 'statistics'
- click on 'find all posts by Nifty29'
- click on any numbers of links from any thread he's posted in

You'll see a long history of someone starting problems that weren't there before, or sticking his nose in the beehive WAY too many times. It's not an accusation, it's a fact, because it's continuous and it's there for everyone to see. It's been that way for the past couple of years, and it'll continue being that way for much longer. Really, how many posts/threads can someone make, where they're in some sort of hot water with another forum member? It can't all be imaginary, now can it? If I'm 'yawn', imagine what you are?

I'm guilty of derailing this thread (and I am), but how many threads do you derail on a weekly basis? Are you aware that you do that more often than you should?

And to suggest I was 'ducking' before, not owning up to my intent, what about you? You hypocrite. How many times have you started stuff, unnecessary problems, etc? Ad nauseum. I'd love to know how many times you alert the mods about threads like this one (which you likely have already done), and completely remove yourself from playing any pivotal role in it.

I guess I'm supposed to get into a 'semantics' battle with you, to show how clever you are, and how well you maneuver yourself without breaking any forum rule, but I'm done for the day.

This was a long post! I'm guilty!

I don't mind long posts, in fact I rather enjoy VWM's wisdom and knowlege in his posts. It's the posts that are repetitive that bore me.

@JohnSteed, I have only been here a short time compared to most members, and I haven't read many of your posts, but in no way was my previous post regarding you and your posts at all .

:)

LOL.

Well at least we have established your definition of "jumping in" on threads is i.e. posting in threads where I have no "right" to "stick my nose in". Maybe it's time to have the mods set up the board so all posts have to be approved by you first to stop all this "jumping in"

Call me names, accuse me of whatever.... I don't give a toss....the fact is that ANY MEMBER CAN POST IN ANY THREAD FOR ANY REASON as long as they do so within the rules. If you don't like reading my posts then make use of the ignore button.

The only thing my posting stats show is that I post in a lot of threads. So what? My opinionis as valuable as anyone else's regardless of how much I post.

Until the rules change I shall post anywhere I like and you will just have to suck it up.

Sounds as if you two need to deploy the ignore button on each other...or am I butting in on a private squabble:p

C'mon guys - you both make useful contributions here, and all posts civilly expressed and relevant on any topic should be welcomed as enhancing the conversation.

Glad to see the membership active over the weekend ;)

The 'Likes' thing I haven't really wrapped my head around, so I don't use it. It's confusing to me, because if I would thank a post, I obviously like it, except I know it's not intentioned to be used for every thanked post, and well... then my head explodes.

If someone wants to explain how they use 'like' in conjunction with 'thanks', I'm all ears... :D

I'd also like to know from an Admin whether or not a 'Like' adds to reputation points, and is it a greater/less/equal addition than 'Thanks'? If you Like and Thank, is the poster getting doubled up rep?

The "Likes" was killed over the weekend. It was/is associated with Facebook and I hadn't quite wrapped my head around it yet either. But a few members were abusing this function, and since I can't select/deselect members or enable or disable forums with it's use, I turned it off.

As for the writing of long posts, I don't mind the length just so you know what you're doing. You need to consider the time people have to invest while reading, and you should employ as much white space as possible.

About forty percent of the forum membership are non-native English speakers - and I'm sure many of these members find posting their thoughts difficult if not intimidating. That's one reason why I don't rag on people for spelling, punctuation, grammar or sentence structure :p

But succinct paragraphs are nice. :D

With lots of smilies

What an intriquing title I must say! Caught my attention..and took me back to the days of "Lost in Space"....Those were the good ole days, I must say! :D

Well...now that I see it again..I know it was meant for writing...but thank you for the walk down memory lane!

 :D
