ive taken some knocks in life of late..normally i would take such things in my stride .. smile and keep going...

but all the little set backs are adding up..im an optimistic person at heart but at the moment im finding it hard to raise my spirits and see past the gloom...

when i was in the army and got shot and was told i would never walk again ...i thought sod it i can deal with this and i have ur life is what you make of it and wallowing in self pity was never for me but the recent burglary at my home hit me hard ..but again i thought sod it im still not gonna let it get me down..

ive been hoping for a while to move house ..to a bungalow which would have made my life a lot easier...but tonite i recieved the news that it wont be possible..there are several reasons it wont happen and all of them are valid...but its still come as a huge blow and one i was not expecting

but life goes on and i tell myself i must make the best of a bad situation and soldier on with a smile ...all be it a forced one for the time being

apologies for the ramble..always helps to get things of ones chest..

Don't apologize satty! Please ramble on instead:thumbsup:

You have every right to feel sad and it's totally okey. We all have our moments, but the most important thing is to be able to move on. I believe you will do that this time too.

I think you're amazing instead. You're always nice and polite, willing to help if you can.
You are here for us when we complaining, so we are here for you now:)

But I have already promised you I will not always be nice:p

Hang in there satty - I know what it's like to have your hopes on something and the disappointment when it falls through. Hopefully things will start to improve for you soon.

    Satty,

Sometimes we get hit with horrible blows one after another, but it is true when it is said, What doesn't kill us makes us stronger. I firmly believe that. You will have the greatest feeling of being a conqueror when you see the light at the end of this black hole your in and feel the greatest feeling of satisfaction knowing you did beat the odds, and have overcome the hardships that were thrown your way.

I for one look forward to that day when you post on here, "IN YOUR F'N FACE!!! I BEAT YA".

Cheer up, it could be worse

I had to live with my brother and his wife and 5 kids plus my dad in a 4 bedroom house. Add myself and my 2 teenagers and one kid at that time - made for a lot of people, was really cramped and uncomfortable for just over a year before I found a house I could afford and that suited me and mine

I have a theory which seems to work out most times :p when ya hit with a bad blow something good happens to balance it out;) Karma :)

No matter how bad life gets satty, it is always far better than the alternative, the reason I haven`t been myself lately and hardly posting is because I have been spending a lot of time with my dying father, whom I know, would gladly buy any unwanted hours and minutes from you if he could, so come on son chin up ;).

    P.S.

Great to know that the country you put your life on the line for is pissing up your back and telling you it`s raining .

If you made it through all that you have. I mean being shot, I'm sure hospitals therapy, learning how to start a new life in a new way. That my friend was probably the hardest thing in life and you made it. That tells me you are a survivor. That tells me you can face anything and do it. Are you really going to let some ass who robbed you and bad news get you down. Don't!!! Don't let them change who you are. You have courage and strength. I know this because you have come so far since your accident. Don't forget that feeling and will to survive and fight because of bad news. You may have lost the bungalow but who knows there may be a palace you haven't even seen waiting for you. Cry be sad get it out. Now be strong and remember the courage you have. It will work out. When a door slams shut a window will open.

Plaster that false smile on your face.... it really does help. Act like you are happy and you will be happy is the tenant of rational emotive behaviour therapy, or as I like to call it, Fake it Til you Make It.

Plan something to look forward to. And really look forward to what you plan, even it's something simple like a cookie with your tea.

I find that even if plans fall through, I handle disappointment better than I handle nothing to look foward to.

If your funk lasts longer than three weeks, talk to your family doctor about it though. Depression can be an incidious bugger.

Spring is here, get outside and enjoy the season. And it never hurts to dance, it's a great mood elevator. People in chairs dance, and I recommend it highly for endorphin release.

    Hey Satty

You did exactly the right thing by coming to the forum and sharing some of your setbacks. I have a huge amount of respect for your efforts as a soldier and am sorry to hear you were injured. I hope you keep looking into other possibilities on the house front and don't get down about those people standing in your way. I always have a philosophy that good things will come, you just need to remain positive.

    All the best conker.
