LeoVegas under UKGC investigation

Verification should be from the moment you open a account.
I agree. Some casinos already did this. When I opened an account with bet365 a couple years ago, they required me to be completely verified before I could deposit, before one spin on the slots. I'm sure there are others and respect for casinos who do this.

Here's the screen to add a new card at 21

There's a warning that the card must be in your name, and you have to type in the name on the card.

So what name did this person use?

If he used his mother's name (the name which was actually on the card) why would 21's system allow a card to be registered under a different name to the name the casino account is in?

If he used his own name then I'm pretty sure that visa (or whoever) would block the transaction, since the name sent from 21, wouldn't match up with the long number, expiry and CVV code.
I know I once had a transaction refused by Visa, when I'd accidentally made a typo with my name.

So, I'd say it's down to 21, for not cross referencing the declared 'name on the card' against the name the casino account is in. Which basically allows ANY card with ANY name on, to be used to deposit
Yes quite this is the bit I don’t get. Also I would of thought the security for the company/bank from wherever the card was issued might have contacted his Mother to check these transactions were actually hers as you would have to assume they were way outside her normal/regular pattern and parameters for use of the card.

Years ago I had a card blocked for making 3 very quick purchases whilst shopping (not online). They were only around the £50 mark each and I was a bit annoyed at having to call them to unfreeze it but at the same time was grateful they had acted so quickly as it may of fallen into the wrong hands. That was around 20 years ago so you would of expected a little bit of progress since then not the reverse.

Agreed.

Always found 365 to be solid as a rock, intelligent support that is UK based, thorough on ID checks and rapid with the payouts. Great selection of games too. One I do miss playing at.

And there is one which told me i could not be verified until AFTER i had made my first deposit.Step into the spotlight Slots Magic.

Just wondering if we have any ‘casinogrounds’ folks here and what’s there take on this?.
Has that odd foot kissing guy and his even odder umpa-lumpa little guy made any comment?.
It’s responsible gambling after all and should be addressed and spoken about, especially if you are promoting the casino that’s been this low in the morals stakes.

LV have a real issue with this. Their exclusion systems are not working as planned on their sister sites, this is a known issue and they were under investigation anyway for that. However, they are not the only ones.....

Their exclusion systems were looking for an exact match on players so could easily waltz round it by using a different email/phone number or something else.

Betway should be up for some fun and games soon as well. They ignored manual verification mismatches.

See below, response from senior management at Betway after allowing an account to be open after the player submitted ID which differed to the detail on account.

The only information that differed was your date of birth, that showed your birth date as XX/XX/YYYY as opposed to XY/XX/YYYY as registered on the account. When it is clear all details match, we consider customer experience and the fact that human error can occur when registering the account. If deemed necessary we would request an explanation, however, as mentioned in this case all other details matched and therefore it was deemed an unintentional error upon registration.
