Good Morning
I'm new here so apologies if I am not posting in correct area.
I was a member of Leo vegas since November 2017.Had no problems depositing and withdrawing for 10 months.
Suddenly on 23/5/2018 my account was locked and a message popped up saying I'd previously SE with one of their other sites and they provided a list of 6 or 7 possibilities.
I went straight on chat asking why it had taken them 10 months to discover this (bingo stars was the casino I'd SE from)
Lady on chat informed me that they had only recently acquired that casino.I assumed she'd meant that week but was shocked when she said "no...From 1/03/18...So basically then a so called "self excluded player was ok to deposit from 1/3/2018 the day you had access to the names of SE players you inherited until 23rd May 2018..near on 3 months.
I I am so annoyed by this and they are "investigating" but as I see it and in light of recent UKGC finding and fines..all my deposits from 1/3/2018 should be refunded then...Sorry to waffle just wondering where I stand.
Thanks

Hi Adamjames,

As far as I know, when one company acquires another, the self exclusion list goes along with it. Its just simple Responsible Gaming. If you're happy to stay with them its one thing, but you can claim all your deposits from the date of acquisition till your last deposit. They shouldn't hassle you, as i'm pretty sure they don't want any other fine

LeoVegas effectively failed to detect a SE at a casino they had taken over, meaning all SE's from that casino should be applied across their network. Hence, you should be entitled to have your deposits refunded from the day the take-over was effective, 1st March 2018.

I assume they never informed you of the BingoStars takeover either to at least give you a chance to pro-actively seek advice from them whether you can continue playing at LeoVegas.

Thanks for reply.I agree it's responsible gaming but it irks me how they suddenly shut me down with no warning after happily having me as a customer for 6 months...

Nope no warning at all...in fact on the 23/5 I deposited at 9am and by account was closed by 2.They returned my balance of 80 and have been investigating my request to rewind my account back to zero from 1/3 returning all deposits minus withdrawals.(approx 2.5k)

It's not about the money at all but more about making the point that the casino can't have it both ways and implement things when it suits.
I fully expect them to claim they had no access to SE list until day of my exclusion. All going to come down to wether they want another UKGC complaint over a couple of grand

It seems like you've "self excluded" for non gambling problems. Am I right? In other words you quit Bingo Stars because you didn't want to play there anymore.

Or did you SE because you have serious gambling problems? If so, why wasn't this mentioned earlier - and why are you still playing?

Most ADRs will just refer you to hire a lawyer/solicitor. The Self Exclusion policies have become a nightmare - abused by both casinos and players (mostly players) - that unless you can show evidence of serious gambling problems and your bona fide attempts to take the right steps, you probably don't have a case.

No..I would have self excluded for gambling problems.Asking why a gambler is still gambling is a bit of a strange question. If it were as simple as being able to stop then we wouldn't have the need for SE to begin with would we?

Sorry but I didn't feel the need to go into chapter and verse about my gambling history .just stated the facts.

I'll also add that on a number of occasions at Leo I DID exercise time out periods for up to 2 weeks. Each time my account just reopened when the period of time out had elapsed. This 9s despite a chat room operative informing me that they will always review the account and talk to the player first..well that didn't happen...

What I am saying is, that self exclusion is the last resort to use. When you SE, you are stating and agreeing that you have a gambling problem thus being barred from the casino (and we would presume all of it's connected properties). Here you have claimed that you were gambling on another site (Leo Vegas) and you are blaming the casino for not catching you out in time. Thus you are putting the blame on them and hoping to get your money back when you should not have been doing it in the first place. Do you see a problem here?

I am not trying to be insensitive to gambling issues here, but you have got to understand that many players abuse these policies - I am also not saying that is what has happened here. Perhaps their casino rep can clarify what has happened with your account.

Bingo stars that I excluded from was acquired by Leo Vegas AFTER I joined them.I did not deliberately join a site I knew I was exclude from as Leo vegas did not acquire bingo stars until 1/3/2018 and I joined Leo 4 months before in November. Therefore it can not be my fault that I did not predict that Leo vegas would one day own a site I SE from.
Bingo stars just now have confirmed my reason for SE .I have blacked out my name as it is my first name not my user name as obviously I could not go into my account and could only chat as a guest.

My point here is that Leo Vegas cannot have things both ways.I have no issue with the deposits I made before 1/3/18 but to have access to data for 3 months that a SE player is using one of their casinos and to let 3 months elapse before stopping deposits is not on and actually in light of the recent UKGC fine a complete no no.

Its this old Minefield again..

Just add my opinion to this which i know some will not agree with.

Do i think leo was right. No i don't it should have been picked up earlier. This is one of the issue where having with merging data bases etc.

Do i think Deposits should be refunded.. No Player A excludes from somewhere for admitted gaming problems then proceeds to open a account elsewhere that he knowingly was not SE from. Sorry but players have to take some responsibility themselves. The systems are there to help not hold peoples hands

sorry but this makes no sense if the system was there to help then it should have been picked up the day of the merger......so not a help at all really, and 3 months is not acceptable

You are of course entitled to your own opinion. The principle is what is at stake here.Had they blocked my account up to say a week after acquiring Bingo Stars then I could live with that.It can be off no coincidence that they obviously tightened their grip AFTER being fined and on notice from UKGC that they were being watched.Up until then they happily let me continue for three months.I have looked into the figures a little further and it actually amounts to about 800 pounds.Could I let it go? Yes..should I let it go Absolutely not.Yes people need to take responsibility but if it were so easy there would be no addictions and no rules and regulations would be needed to begin with would they?

I disagree in this particular case. This isn't a case where someone opened a new account at a linked casino, lost a load of money, then complained they shouldn't have been allowed to play and tried to get their money back. If the OP's account is correct, then he opened the account, and had no problem losing until his account was closed and he found out he should have been subject to SE months previously. He didn't initiate this, LeoVegas did. He wasn't told that the SE'd account had been bought by LV (and I 100% believe that as being SE'd wouldn't have been getting any communications from them) so why would he even check, he wouldn't, therefore it is solely down to LV.
In this case I think the deposits should be refunded. This is exactly the type of scenario casinos have been fined for previous.

Thank you.. this attachment shows the first time I was notified of any involvement with bingostars..this popped up on the 23/5 when I tried to log in at about 2pm.I had deposited earlier that morning as well.it was during a live chat I discovered the take over happened on 1/3/2018..I had no clue and why would I?

Can I ask what others consider a reasonable time frame for the casino to make a decision on this? Thanks

The reason I doubt that you will get any deposits back is because you were treated like any other player up to the time when they closed your account.

That mean you could make deposits and withdrawals just like everyone else. You wouldn't have been denied a cashout so I don't see any reasons for paying back your deposits either.

With respect you are missing the point.Had Leo vegas applied the rules regarding responsible gaming then they should not have allowed play win or lose from 1/3/2018.If this happens they have to rewind the account back to zero whether win or lose no matter how fair they were to begin with.
