There have been a lot of threads started in the last day or two concerning the impending departure of several casinos from the UK market.

So I thought it might be a good idea to try and create one single thread specifically for the purpose of listing ALL of those casinos who HAVE announced their intention to leave the UK market.

I'm going to start the ball rolling..........

Pic 1 - All Slots (received 1st Sept)

Pic 2 - Casino Tropez (not CM accredited) oops  (rec'd 2nd Sept)

    Pic 3 - RedFlush (rec'd 2nd Sept)

    Why 1st August?

Secondly, they are not being "forced" to abandon their UK players, they had the choice of working with the new regulations which would have allowed them to offer uninterrupted service.

Thirdly, this information is not being sent to ALL their UK account holders, just a chosen few. They have said NOTHING to the community at large about these changes.

Far from sending me closure emails, I received TODAY an email from all four former Jackpot Factory casinos telling me to play now for double points on the new games. These are also Digimedia, much like Ruby Fortune is suspected to be. Same group, but completely different interpretations of the requirements of the UK regulations.

Despite the lack of formal information delivered from the operators, the rumour that "the majority of Microgaming casinos" will be leaving the UK looks like being correct.

UK players are now finding that operators are deserting them far more readily than they deserted the US players. Microgaming in particular, fought hard to dig in despite UIGEA, and even when they were forced out, they managed to hang on for a few more months by using an "unbranded" version of their software provided through a secretive network of subsidiary companies so that the US authorities would have had a tough job linking the "crime" to Microgaming. UK - they are all walking towards the exit weeks before they are likely to get shoved through it by the UKGC. This is despite that fact that unlike UIGEA, a mechanism has been provided that will allow them to remain.

This outcome was not what the UK government had in mind when the bill was passed, they were expecting the good casinos to remain under the new regime, but that the rogues would be squeezed out by a regulated and accountable industry that players could trust.

This should tell the US something. Had they went for a similar regulatory regime as the UK, it would have been MORE successful in driving offshore casinos out of the US than their UIGEA approach.

OK by me, I emptied Lucky Nugget last year:p

Not one single email from them since:)

Betway is in need of an empty, so this hasn't turned out too bad.

    The only puzzle is WHY?

I thought the UK was a big market, and the old Belle Rock four were heavily into TV advertising. All Slots also ran ad campaigns on TV.

Casino Rewards however didn't seem to feature on TV, yet they are the one big group that have declared themselves "all in" for the new UK regime. They will have a huge chunk of the UK Microgaming download client market with all 30 or so of their skins being available. With the main competition (the big Digimedia group) going for the exit, they could clean up. There is, of course, 32Red group with 4 skins, and Betway and Casino UK.

I wonder if some of these with change their minds over the next year, and then face the uphill struggle to win back the players they kicked out.

Is there a definitive list of casinos anywhere which are pulling out of the UK?

email wise so far I have received:

    Vegas Palms
    SpinPalace
    Riverbelle
    RubyFortune
    Casino La-vida

All of which point me to Betway.

It is more old rules than new. Bingo is allowed to advertise pre the 9pm watershed, which are cheaper. The site may offer a lot more but if the ad is for bingo they get a pass.

Live sports events get a pre 9pm pass for related sports betting.

This may get tightened up soon.

    This tells us 2 things.

GoWild are definitely pulling out, although they are yet to inform their UK players.
32Red is definitely staying put, a 99% certainty now pretty much confirmed.

Some duplicate accounts are going to be created, and it's a question of whether 32Red decides to merge the duplicates or let some players have 2 accounts there. Merging the duplicates is probably the better option, leaving players with their original 32Red account. Merging may not necessarily be straight forward either, as 32Red will need to make sure they have identified the accounts correctly, rather than merging two different players who just happen to have very similar details.

    True

Without seeing the detail it is hard to tell, it may just be 32Red are marketing to these players, it may not mean they would port the accounts wholesale, points rewards et al.

Two approaches seem to be happening when a site pulls out, full porting to a skin on te same network OR recomending an alternative site. Its not clear to me which this deal is (without paying the subscription).

If players have to deal with their own account closures at GoWild, I would have expected the email to have been sent out by now. There is going to be considerable dissent if GoWild suddenly locks UK players out and cancels all their benefits and comps without giving the players a chance to do it themselves. Players would also prefer to withdraw or play down to zero, rather than be locked out and have to contact CS to get any remaining balance out of their accounts.

If 32Red are going to use the list for marketing, then they could choose to market only to those players they are pretty certain they don't already have. However, it may not go down too well if players start complaining about data violations on the part of 32Red who have somehow ended up with all their personal information without explicit permission from the GoWild players themselves. Given that 32Red will then hold a UK licence, this could be more serious than it has been in the past where such transfers have remained under an offshore jurisdiction. Ideally, GoWild should ensure that players have the opportunity to opt out of having their information transferred, and should send out an email, or even have a message in the casino and their website about it.
