Kiwi Casino for Sale

Land casino operator Christchurch Casino has been given seven months to exit the online casino market. The land-based casino has been ordered to cease all online operations including two online casinos, poker rooms and online bingo venues.

In August 2006, the New Zealand government's Internal Affairs Department reportedly told the casino it had breached the country's Gambling Act after lengthy investigations.

The breach was in relation to organisations other than the TAB accepting bets from New Zealand residents over the Internet.

The overseas subsidiary, Christchurch Casino E-Gaming Investments, was run by Christchurch Casino using a government of Antigua and Barbuda
River Belle Casino
gaming license.

Christchurch Casino had said measures were in place to make it difficult for New Zealanders to register on its websites.

Christchurch Casino also advised the department in October 2006 that it planned to sell the business before confirming this in March this year. The New Zealand government had sought Crown law advice and received the prosecution's views in February this year.

An Internal Affairs spokesperson said the investigation would be closed once it was confirmed there was no New Zealand ownership interest in Kiwi Casino and FastWin Casino.

It is unknown who the likely buyer will be, but with both online casinos boasting a loyal fan base, there are sure to be a number of interested parties.

Christchurch Casino launched Kiwi Casino in 2000. Other websites with online poker were launched soon after. Christchurch Casino uses the Playtech online casino and online poker software for their online operations

And it's inaccurate. Kiwi was sold months ago and that was stated in other reports elsewhere - and the article appears to be removed from the site since I can't find it anywhere even using the search function - I reported the inaccuracy a day or two ago.
