KAHNWAKE CUTS OFF SPORTS SITE

Licensing jurisdiction is concerned over organised crime reports

The CNW news group reports that the Kahnawake Gaming Commission has suspended the license held by WSC Management, Inc., a Costa Rican company that manages sportsbook BetWSC.com. It is understood that the decision includes locking the companys servers.

The suspension results from concerns related to criminal charges that have recently been laid against the principal of WSC alleging that he conspired with persons linked with organised crime in Montreal. The Commission decided that these allegations are sufficiently serious and extraordinary that an immediate suspension was necessary to ensure the public interest was not affected in an adverse and material way.

More general media reportage suggests that the WSC companys owner was detained as part of a Canadian national police sweep against alleged organised crime activities. WSC Management Inc. is apparently owned by one Marco de Pasquale. It is claimed that Rosario de Pasquale, 29, and his twin brother, Matteo Rosario de Pasquale were among 10 Montreal residents picked up by police some 10 days ago on charges related to a major bookmaking operation.

The suspension will remain in force unless and until the Commission is provided further information about the allegations in question, at which time WSCs permit will either be reinstated or revoked.

WSC Management was set up in 1995 with ownership registered to an outfit titled Espillar Limited in the UK. However, the information portal Sports Book Review reports that the company (WSC) has since been sold to unknown operators, with online gamblers being re-directed to an unknown site on the url Link Removed ( Old/Invalid) . SBR reports that players are being invited to log in at the new site, using their unchanged user name and password.

Due to the unknown origins or track record of *Imptek* the portal is advising players to steer clear until more information is to hand. Some players reported that their balances were paid in full via Neteller last week while others were directed to the unknown Costa Rican-based betting website.

Commenting on the suspension and locking of the server, the KGC's Alan Goodleaf told reporters that the allegations are sufficiently serious and extraordinary that an immediate suspension of WSCs access was necessary.
