New spyware programs can be dangerous

US television network 13 WTHR has cautioned viewers to be careful where they leave their cellphones following reports of some alarmingly efficient new spy softwares.

, and has already attracted well over a million views by cell phone users concerned about personal privacy following the development of invasive software like Flexiphone and Spyphone, which can eavesdrop on conversations miles away even when the cellphone is not active.

It's a cautionary tale worth viewing in a global society where cellphones are such an integral part of our lives, and the bottom line is - keep that cellphone safe!

I knew there was a reason I don't own a cellphone. Although, best wishes to anyone wanting to eavesdrop on anything I have to say. Pretty mundane stuff I'm afraid to say.

These programs can apparently remotely activate your cellphone so that your conversation, say in an office or at a business luncheon where the instrument is to hand but not in use, is broadcast to a set number....without you being aware of it.

Pretty mundane stuff I'm afraid to say.

Same here. The only call I usually get is from my provider every other month asking if my phone and my husbands is working.

Our bill shows usually anywhere between 6-7 minutes a month each (we call each other once in a blue moon then forget we have it) and the provider was worried we didn't have a working phone. Right now, we don't because, we also forget to recharge it...and both are dead right now so I guess I don't have a thing to worry about, but it is definitely interesting to know.

I forget the name of the TV show I saw about 6 months ago, but hey were showing how people in range could hack into your phone via bluetooth, and have complete control over it, as well. They would have full reign over your phone, which included stealing/viewing your contacts, placing calls without you even knowing it, listening in on your calls, and all kinds of scary things....

It was also amazing at how fast and easy this is to do. In a matter of a minute or so, they had gained access...

oh yea, what's even more freaky is that they can turn on your camera and watch everything you're doing.
