It's a purging alright, made all the more baffling as many of those aren't directly movie-licenced and simply original works! 
Short of speculating on any rationale behind it, such as paying the 75p it costs to keep them running, it just seems like good old-fashioned downscaling, whereby these titles are played by a select few, or just deemed not zany enough for a modern player base because they don't depict hangings etc.
As much as I acknowledge the classic status of Cashapillar, Tomb Raider and even the formative slotting joy experienced on the (for me outstanding) Silver Fang, ain't no one playing them no more.
A lot of these titles excelled when paired with the 'MG Download lobby times' and just look broken and devoid of purpose since their 'conversions' from Flash anyway. So ultimately sad, but not surprising
