If this is the case, I'd suggest the commission knows very little about online gambling. Perhaps Jetset has some news on this?

Where did you read this information?

I guess we will need a government first:D, and this will not be their first priority (I may hope)

First I've heard of it - my last information was that the Belgians were going ahead with some pretty 'iffy' regulations in European Commission terms.

A limited number of online licenses restricted to Belgian companies that already have land gambling licenses, requirements for servers in-country etc.

There are only nine licensed casinos in Belgium, and these licenses have already been awarded for a (renewable) period of 15 years. In these circumstances, it would be difficult to say the least, for a foreign EU operator to obtain one of those licenses as a prerequisite for obtaining an online licence for casino games in Belgium.

I seem to recall that that triggered some interesting discussions as outsiders tried to set up partnerships with Belgian firms that would give them access to the market.

I could understand Partouche, but I don't believe I've heard about the once notorious Golden Palace being welcomed...perhaps the poster can provide us with a link for clarity?
