Wowza! 1 guy did not think would ever retire, probably a good time like when Pokerstars owners got out with regulated markets now and such and it is pretty quiet here now I have been noticing but even for me too busy now to post a lot.
Maybe we can have a working forum finally? :P

Suprising read first thing in the morning!

I've been a member here two decades myself, and never really thought this day would come. Makes me almost feel old too.

Thanks for everything Bryan, and enjoy your retirement.

And remember, the more you age, the more elated you'll become.

Wow! Congrats on the retirement Bryan, hope you get some traveling in and spend some time on the ranch. Please keep in touch. :)

Its been an amazing time on CM, and been such a useful source of info, fun, arguments and resources.

Not sure it will be quite the same now that it has a conflict of interest running it, but what a legacy it will always have!

Wow, first the Wizard, then Casinomeister.

You built something phenomenal here. The world is better for it.

Can you say how much the sale price was? I'm guessing 7 figures but maybe 8?

It's the summer of 1998...
  • Microgaming are hitting it out of the park with their latest one-liner slots, and the first progressive jackpot is just around the corner - it would be another 11 years before they found the other 242 ways of their golden era.
  • Planet Poker had opened their doors, offer $3-$6 Limit Hold'Em. [

  • The owner of World Wide Tele Sports, William Scott, set up his licensed gambling operation in Antigua. Naturally the US disagreed and charged him for illegally taking sports bets - it would be another three years before they realised he wasn't who he claimed to be, and Sam Alvin Ashley Jr had allegedly been on the run for more than a decade. • More than 200 sites were operating, with Frost & Sullivan reporting $830m in online gambling revenues for 1998. The dot com boom was in full swing - and it looked like the good times would never end (they did, 2000).
  • Nobody knew what UKGC (2007) or eCOGRA (2003) meant, and few had heard of a NetEnt (1996).
  • We couldn't play with live dealers (2001), live roulette (2004) or on our mobiles (also 2004), but every British pub had a Billy Bleach who knew how to play the machines... "

(if you want more early nostalgia, there's a 2008 repost of an older - unavailable - thread on CM here)

... and some guy decides to create a forum for this stuff. Why!?!

Thank you for everything you've done for this community - and the wider industry - over the past 26 years. You've built a strong team and I hope that the new owners will take care of CM much like you have for a quarter of a century. Enjoy your retirement and don't be a stranger!
