Hey everyone, I wondered since the U.S. government has shut down many of the poker sites and maybe some casinos, can they suddenly shut down those who still accept american players? I understand that the market is huge and there are many players who wants to play.

but my question is are these casino who accept american in a way breaking the law? can they suddenly been shut down and players lost their money?

for example i had 1549$ in my full tilt account before they got shut down by u.s gov...

are these casino takin a risk to survive?

As I have said before on this forum, I do not like that certain casinos are accepting US players. I think this practice shows a lack of respect for the safety for all of their customers.

No, they can't.
No online casinos (that I know of) operate from within USA territory, so there is no way the USA government can shut them down.

With any discussion aside as to the legality of online gambling in the US...

We have seen from the past actions of the DOJ and feds that they can seize not only processors & their monies (I think this is still going on, and the reason for the sporadic 'processor problems' at RTG casinos) but whenever they feel like it, they can seize domain names and the bank accounts of casinos. If they can do it to poker rooms, they can do it to casinos that take USA action. The feds do seem predisposed to seize the big boys, as that's where they can get the most money.

The same thinking goes for any ewallet that moves USA money to and from casinos. When the feds want it, they can shut it down... or take it over and operate it for a couple of years on the pretense of operating a 'sting'.

So are the casinos taking a risk? Yes. Are we taking a risk? Yes. I don't think the feds will round up USA players and throw them in the hoosegow, but they've shown absolutely no concerns about players monies when they take a poker room or processor down. Individual players have lost tens of thouseands of dollars in the NETeller mess, QT, ewallet express, and FullTilt, AP..... blahblahblah....

Do I think the the casinos who continue to take USA action are doing us a service? I used to think so... But not now... not under current conditions.

(Disclaimer: I haven't played online in over 2 years.)

The casinos that are taking u.s. players cannot totally be trusted. First, they are breaking u.s. law so that tells you something right there. They really don't care about you, but rather the money they can make from you.

Places like pokerstars were just as greedy while partypoker watched their stock take tremendous hits. Despite this, they'll have a future in the u.s. while poker stars sacrificed their future. The casinos you may play at today like clubworld, inetbet, etc. Are in the same category. They won't have a future in the u.s., they are fortunate the doj hasn't shut them down yet, but based on some reading I've been doing, stronger efforts are in the future.
I think you take a chance with any casino accepting us players.

Well, it tells me that a business operating outside of the US doesn't need to follow US laws, but rather the laws that govern where it is located and licensed.

That said, I'm not in the US but I do play at some accredited casinos that accept US players. None of my payment or withdrawal methods require processors that serve US clients... these processors are the ones flouting the laws, and have been the target of the DOJ seizures. I do realize that it could happen I lose a small deposit or even a large win if it all goes down at a certain point when I have funds in transit, so I follow the threads regarding all this stuff closely.
