Hi,

I have a problem, my son is UNDER 18 and he could register an account (because online casinos doesn't ask for an ID) in a few online casinos and lost like 500 which is a lot of money to me.

My question is if I talk with my bank, they can recover my losses?

Hiya: Maybe. It depends on how long ago it was, and how the money got into the Casino. The normal procedure is to do, "an unauthorised transaction" dispute with the bank. You fill out the form, they return the funds, "temporarly", until they do their investigation. Then they let you know the decision.

If he used an, "e wallet" of some kind, then a Chargeback will happen, and both the Casino, and the e wallet will close the account. A lot of this just depends on your particular bank.......

or...........You could just make him do e500 worth of chores around the house.....;)

So are you saying he "borrowed" your credit card and signed-up to these casinos pretending to be you?

If that is the case, I think you will have a lot of trouble convincing the casinos that it was really him who did this, and not you yourself.

That would be my concern also and i strongly agree with the other poster, lots of chores are called for, the very worst he hates to do for about 6 months as this may end up costing you in the long run some really major headaches:eek: ..............laurie

I think you need to not only punish him but open a can of whoop ass on him
what else is he using your CC's for? Are you going to say they was unauthorized also or was they all casino charges? No something doesnt sit well with your post he does that casinos but yet you can find Casinomeister??

Hmmmmm

Good Luck

Cindy

Your bank may be able to put in an investigation but if you request that and they find that the funds were taken and used without unauthorization they could press charges against your son. If i were you i'd eat the $500 lay down a whoopin(literally a WHOOPIN) and call it a day. Contact the casinos tell them that he is underage and they will close his accounts and not allow one to be opened again.

That boy done lost his mind. I would talk to your bank to see if the funds can be recovered. You might have to do chargebacks, but how in the world he got your credit card in the first place? Then again I looked a KK's post and I might be thinking the same thing...

If you do not gamble on line, have no intention of ever gambling online, I'd approach the casino first, and your bank. But he may be charged...I don't know the laws in your jurisdiction.

Did he register under his own name? You may be able to furnish proof of his age if he did so, and the casino may return your deposits.

And he still needs to repay you, and I think cutting off his internet access is most appropriate.

You've been offered many good suggestions here from Casinomeister members, but I would like to see more detail on this underaged gambling claim, please.

Exactly how did your son manage to get into a position where he could blow your presumably hard-earned cash? Underaged and addictive gamblers create major problems for casinos and most reputable online operators go to some length to exclude them.

So, if there's a casino out there that is not applying adequate precautions - especially if it's one of the better known brands - I for one would like to know which one it is for further enquiries.

Edited to add: BTW, your very coy profile indicates that you are yourself a student?

Well, if your birthday is 20 November 1991 as you state in your user profile, congratulations for having a wunderkind for a son! Either he's an infant or a toddler - and he can read and operate a keyboard and GAMBLE!! And all in the English language!!!! Amazing!

Screw the 500 - go and take him to the closest talent agency and get RICH!!

Or better yet, go join the circus. You'd make a big hit there ... the "Online Poker Clowns!!!"

First thing i thought reading the opening post is.

A. he has lost it himself and using his son as a scape goat

or

B. Is this the kid? and he is now crapping himself dad's going to find out and wants to get the money back A.S.A.P

leeches of the indsutry, you would be surprised how many times this has happened at places using almost the exact scenario.

what does this say for a character of the perosn, not a lot.

My son really is 22 and has never gambled in his life.

Can I have all my money back anyway? :)

That info has now been removed - has this scared him off.

An easily spotted, and pretty obvious response to being called out because this info WAS initially there - it has to be the KID - someone older would have been more subtle, perhaps pretending it was a typo " I meant 1981......."

It COULD have been true though, parents HAVE to sleep sometime, and a teenage son could easily swipe their credit card, write down the details, and put it back, with it not being discovered. Only when the parent gets their next statement might they realise something was up, but would have no idea what unless the son confessed. To an non-gambler, many casino related card transactions look unreleted to gambling on the surface, but certainly DO look like "internet" transactions.

You do NOT need the card in your possession for using the internet, and despite the safeguards of "secured by VISA" and "Mastercard secure", VERY FEW casinos actually USE the service, which places a second level of security on the transaction, a password (equivalent to the PIN in "chip & pin") known ONLY to the cardholder. Having the card details, or even the card itself, is NOT enough to get past these extra security methods.

One answer is for it to become industry standard for casinos to use these extra security features introduced by card issuers to prevent the problem of unauthorised use of a credit card by someone other than the holder.

As for ID, this is usually ONLY checked at time of withdrawal, so the fact that someone is under age will not be picked up unless they WIN, and request a cash out, and then find they have to fake an OVER age ID to get the money. This does NOT prevent under age players LOSING money.
