Interesting story on MSNBC TV

Exactly, play at your own risk. Although, a few months back I did go to a Minnesota Casino on a Monday. I like their old dollar machines that actually pay out dollars at the bottom. It's pretty fun. I noticed one machine on the end was paying out. I was losing and decided to try it. The crazy thing paid out every few minutes. The floor attendant had to keep filling the machine. I had cups of dollars sitting around the machine. I ended up with over a thousand on that one machine. I went back two weeks later to play it and it was the same machine but the casino had tighten the machine so much that to get it to pay anything was virtually impossible.

Lots0 - I don't know your history but looks like you had problems with Natives before losing some money at an Indian Casino.
Now that is truly funny.

First I have NEVER lost any money in a Native Casino. I not really into getting cheated, so I don't play in Native Casinos, but I have a lot of friends that work at Native Casinos all across the country...

DakWinner you are the only one here that keeps bringing up racism, I think at least twice so far in this thread you have accused or insinuated that someone was raciest.

Did you wonder why I had an Aunt and Uncle living on the (Res) Reservation? Naw... well lets just say I don't have any problems with Native Americans.

The ONLY people I have problems with are morons, liars and thieves, no matter what color their skin is or what god they pray too.

FYI - Most (but not all) North American Natives find the word "Indian" an offensive racial slur when it used to describe them.

Since I run in different circles I wasn't aware of Native Casinos not paying their customers. On that note, it would indeed be big news if locals weren't paid their money. I would be screaming to every news outlet, Ed Schultz local program, US senators, etc. if I didn't get my money. Bad press does not make good business. We all have some prejudices in some way or another. Did you know the United States sent Native American trackers into Afganistan (Spellchek) to hunt down Bin Ladin? Just my two cents, I believe Bush already knows where he is....he has to stop adding to the circus.
being 1/4 native american, im all for the native americans having casinos as long as they pay out fairly. ive been to several in miss. and it wasnt that great imo, as far as the bin ladin thing, i had to add my .2 cents for what its worth.....how hard is it to find an old man on a donkey pulling a dialysis machine behind him:what: this is something ive often wondered about:rolleyes: sorry ya"ll for the derail:)

In my opinion playing at a Native Casino on a Reservation, is tantamount to playing in some dark back alley with a bunch of guys with bent noses.

You play by their rules, which they can change at any time and you have no recourse when they do change the rules or ignore them. Just like this guy that won the 1.5 mil jackpot is finding out.

You can't sue them in US Courts, because they are not 'legally' part of the US and if you try to sue them in their own courts you will get a first hand lesson in how the Natives feel about the "Invaders" that have taken away their land and forced them to live on dirt patch Reservations in the worst kind of poverty for the last hundred years or so.

One of my close friends, that happens to be a member of the Nez Perce tribe, calls the Native Casinos "The Red Man's Revenge"... and I don't think he is kidding.

Need I say more

Yup I wrote it, so what?

DakWinner, I guess you think we can all read your mind or something. I don't know what your trying to say... and to be honest I really don't care.

You just hit my ignore list.

Indian?

FYI - Most (but not all) North American Natives find the word "Indian" an offensive racial slur when it used to describe them.

I am curious if that is really the case. I have driven cross country from NY to LA and back and back again. When you get to Oklahoma and go all the way through Nevada, there are tons of roadside businesses offering 'authentic' Native American goods. Only I never saw the words "Native American" on their signs once. They all said "Authentic Indian goods", "Real Indian Quilts", etc. Every single sign said "Indian". I stopped into a few of them and they appeared to be owned and run by Native Americans, as far as I can tell. It made me think that using "Native American" instead of "Indian" means more to Caucasians rather than to Native Americans themselves.

Does this mean they're going to stop dressing up like indians and holding big signs that say "PICTURE WITH AN INDIAN $6" on the side of the road?

I can't resist - Lots0, please feel free to email your above post to all those Indian friends across the country. Let's see what they think of it. I'm probably being sensitive.

That must be those Tenessee Indians. What color were they? Everyone needs a job and feathers are expensive.

The political correctness of 'indian' is not important... we can talk about Tribal Casinos, and I hope the discussion doesn't get so sidetracked that we can't.

I was looking for 'games of lot' played by North American Aboriginals (I'm native if I was born here - Abo if I am of the first or earliest known of its 'kind' present in a region) See? this conversation could go anywhere. We are talking on topic or we aren't. I don't want to see this go to wildcards. Start a thread there if we aren't talking about OP's post?

This can go all ways from Sunday with different cultures (I practice ethnobotanicals) and no - one needs to do 'peyote' to do the ghost dance or meet our Abo hosts (outside of a casino) on their terms.

MOD Plea: Please don't move this if it stays on topic in the next few posts

Well, you can alway ask them... ;)

brianzz I was not talking about you, I was talking about dakwinner (its not all about you).

But from your attitude, you just hit my ignore list as well, I don't suffer childish fools well.

Wow from someone that seemed so offended by the word "Nigger", he now appears to to be a raciest himself.

Lots0 - I believe that I have really tried in an earlier post to be reconcillatory towards you. Which didn't work. Anger and bitterness does destroy a person from the inside out. Hey, I thought I was on your ignore button and now I am again blessed with your positive and thoughtful posts. Now how about turning that frown upside down and having a positive day:)?

BrianZZ

I got to travel more often. I've never been to NC, I thought they did that only in those old movies. Thanks Brian, I think you may have just put me on a new career path...although I don't have a bent nose, I believe I can pass as an Indian if I get the whole Indian outfit thing going on...

Oh geez lots0, pardon me, I forgot every thread on this forum is all about you. Sadly you have to say things to inflame or piss people off to get attention, so it's not really genuine. Besides, I was just saying that was funny, I could care less if you ignore me.

Well T-Day is coming up soon, maybe we can all sit around the fire and swap squash and corn and turkey:) (or just pass a bottle of wild turkey)

To get back on track....

There is an Indian casino in New York towards Buffalo called "Salamanca". It has a wonderful reputation and it is every bit as nice as a AC or LV casino other than it has skewed craps odds. It has a solid rep and is always fun. I suppose you should probably not judge all Indian casinos based on your experience from one or a few. They are all different most likely.

I've had a blast in several Tribal Casinos, been treated well, slept in the lap of luxury on a peasant's budget. i always leave them with empty pockets, but i mostly do that in vegas and reno too :)

I'd rather play in a regulated environment. I do reno rather than vegas often because the travel costs eat into my bankroll; but i would never play at an unregulated casino because I couldn't 'afford' the trip to a real casino.

Welcome Dave:thumbsup:

Over a year ago (pre UIGEA) I spoke to a reporter for the Seattle Times Newspaper about Native Casinos, he told me that his news paper receives on average one complaint a week about the local Native Casinos. But a Native Casino not paying winners, is not news, he told me. Ya I guess he was right, it is not 'news' when it happens all the time...

I also noticed, on my own, that the Seattle Times was running ads for the local Native Casinos at the time. I do believe that most of the local news media outlets across the USA know what side of the bread their butter is on.
I should consider myself lucky because Every time I won big at Indian casino they have payed me.(Although I was playing game like craps and black jack and not slots)
