Please read the document in this link. It sets out that casinos/online bookies MUST clearly and specifically define what their idea of 'bonus abuse' is and it must be in line with the 2015 Consumer Acts. This comes in the wake of the 12Bet fiasco with their bonus offer for the Cheltenham Races and Gold Cup back in March where they suspended 5000 accounts - this made the press and subsequently there were numerous complaints to IBAS. Some customers were paid winnings via their IBAS complaint while the rest were refunded bets win or lose. This cost the holding company dear in money terms and the document below sets out guidelines which remote operators must follow in regards to bonus terms and advertising - basically legal, unambiguous and defined!

Be careful with Bonuses!
It is crucial  that you understand and agree to the terms and conditions of any bonus that you accept. Most of the complaints that come through our arbitration service are bonus related; it would be safe to say that there are tens of thousands of players who have never complained because they realized after the fact that they did not understand or had never read the terms. Nothing in a casino is free – so whenever you see “free” being used, there are stipulations. It is important for you to understand that.

Please check out our Bonus Section that lists the offers given by our Accredited Casinos. No deposit bonuses, welcome bonuses (AKA sign up bonuses [SUBs]), exclusive bonuses, reload bonuses, free spin bonuses...all this and more!

Thanks for the link, have popped in on my forum too as some of my members were affected by this.

Theres nothing actually new in it though is there, its just the outcome of the investigation, which is pretty much what most people thought would happen, or have I missed something?

Yes there is in that the conclusion reached is that operators and the UKGC now have a new set of defined parameters to observe, as described in the pdf. Basically the UKGC has come to its senses and actually recognized that sites should behave lawfully and in accordance with legislation that applies to other areas of commerce. Many don't.

Hey! If this carries on by the year 2031 EM may list their licensed sites in their terms!

Yes, but that is already in the licence terms, its not new as such, just now they have actually enforced it it might make casinos site up and make things clearer. I'm not arguing btw, just wondered if I had missed anything :)
Plenty of casinos are going to have to clean up their wording and banners I would think, wonder if the UKGC will look at emails etc too.

Now calm down, no need to go overboard.....3031 maybe :D

The also effectively fined Betfred £800,000 for allowing a problem online gambler to spunk over 430k of money stolen from his employer. Or rather they started a 'review' of Betfred's license and got the inevitable bowing and scraping and 'donations' to good causes etc. as a settlement plus made Betfred hire a independent review of their money laundering spotting systems. :)

It's good to know that the UKCG has teeth when needs be. Maybe now other companies will follow and make their bonus t&c's clearer in future.
