Oh, man! It's started! You mean that accounts are closed for ALL bets, even casino-related ones from USA players? I can understand sports-betting but not blackjack or slots.

Worth noting the UK "bookies" (being established and well known brands for Sports betting) do, understandably, tend to baulk at the slightest chance their reputation could be tarnished so this is no major surprise.

These days the directors must also be worried about being extradited to the US.

And if eurobet / coral are doing this the 3rd largest sportsbetting site in the UK you can be certain ladbrokes and william hill will be right behind along with Victor chandler thats a cert.

Ladbrokes and Victor Chandler already prohibit US customers.

Laddies (VC too I think) don't take US bets anyway. And I don't think Hills take US sports bets, but I may be off there.

Edit: Ah Linus beat me too it :D

Hi Westland Bowl

Yes, I'm afraid that all US player Coral, Eurobet and Gala accounts will be closed whether casino, games or poker (these brands never did accept US sportsbook bets)

Catherine

catherine as your prob in a better position do you have any clues or feelings that sites like partypoker etc etc will be doing the same?

Let's not forget that the main charge against BoS is for encouraging and accepting sports bets by telephone in contravention of the 1961 Wire Act. There will inevitably be some panic but it's a long way short of the end of Internet gambling for the US :)

that's correct......WillHill used to take sports bets from US a while back but they do not accept them at prestent.

victor chandler has never accepted US customers even for poker.

I withdrew all funds from one of my poker accounts today. I'm sure I would get those funds even if the senate were to vote in favor of this wacky bill, but I know it would tick me off if it were tied up for a short time.

The Guardian contacted five leading UK-based internet gambling firms, all of which take bets from the US on casino or poker websites. Only one, William Hill, would comment on the record.

Chief executive David Harding said: "We are doing nothing illegal ... It [the indictment against BetonSports and others] doesn't worry me at all ... If it gets the Wire Act into court and there is any evidence that casino or poker bets [over the internet] are illegal, then we will stop it."

William Hill stopped taking sports bets from the US ahead of its flotation four years ago. It continues to take casino and poker bets , but these account for less than 1% of its online revenues. Mr Harding said William Hill did not do any heavy marketing in the US.
