This post originally started out as an answer on another thread, but after I post it I felt it was personal to me and out of respect to the op was best posted in a new thread. When I started gambling, I was doing so good I didn't even get the concept of loosing or chasing lost money. I was so proud and even bragged about how I handled my winnings, how I never reversed a withdrawal and acted quite a bit of a pita actually. What I didn't know was that I was on a winning streak that first year... and then started to loose. I was so used to win I didn't get that loosing was the natural way of gambling, and started to chase losses. It was a nightmare, and I found myself being a problem-gambler. Turned out the help was not far away; I already had a CM account, started to spend more time in here, reading a lot of the advises and finally saw the fantastic vid casinomeister made. Nowadays I'm on a strict budget, never reverse a withdrawal and having all the fun back into gambling again. You could say I matured, you could also say I'm a member of the best online gambling community on the net

Good to see you back posting Freeman.
You do have a way of disappear and I've been wondering where you were :)

That must have been tough thinking you were the ''smart'' gambler just to find out you were like everyone else.

Winning in the beginning is the easiest way to get caught. It's also the worse thing that can happen to someone who start to lose his control, because then he can ruin his whole life. I've seen it several times.

Great to see you find your way to stay in control and have fun.
Now don't go win any Netent jackpot. That could ruin it all :D

Great post buddy.
And I think most gamblers can say they have been in the same position at least once in their life.
When I started my online gambling carreer I managed to get a few massive wins and that streak lasted for a few good weeks.
After that the dry periods started to kick in and then it is when you realise gambling is a risk and always will be.
I was chasing big wins too on certain slots as I was expecting something to drop for me until I was reading up on a few threads in this forum which made me understand how things really work in online gambling.
I was struggling to understand how RTP works on a personal level for example.

So with this knowledge now on board I play my sessions much more relaxed and when I lose so be it.
Won't go and deposit another 100 just to make up for the 200 I might have lost.

There is always a next time and the slots won't run away.
Makes my gambling time much more entertaining now.:thumbsup:

And I really did enjoy that video too when Bryan put that online.

You'r so right, winning in the beginning is the best way to get into trouble. Luckely I realised in reasonable time I was not the slot-magician I thought I was and didn't ruin my life into a economical disaster, but still, it was a lot of anxiety. Of course, being a Swede, I have to stay away from those jackpots hahaha :D

Yeah I have been there and done that quite a bit over my gambling life. Rode the highs and dove to the depths of despair:eek: That is when I realized that I could only gamble x amount of money per month and when that is gone I'm done till next month. Life has been much happier for me since I did that and watching that video that Bryan put out only cemented my resolve. Also even if I am up by a little I will cashout and consider it a victory and a good session (got some entertainment for free this time:D) Each win I receive I always put some towards paying a bill ahead before I play at another site. I haven't had a mega win for a long time (never have I gotten over 3,000 times win though) but if I did I'd be earmarking it more for personal use and only a little for gambling.

My only regret is not figuring this whole thing out years ago as I could have saved myself so much hassle and pain. So keep it up Freeman you are not alone. I have to say even with the smaller wins I am enjoying gambling more in the last year than I did in the previous years.

Your words are all too familiar. Been down that road myself a couple times. Recently I also put myself on a gambling budget and closed some casino accounts with major loosing streaks. Wishing you the best and good luck

So when do you guys cash out? How many times your deposite is the threshold? I`ve had alot of "Huge" wins of 10K € and above. So i noticed i started chasing these wins not realizing these are very rare and that ive just been extremley lucky. I have since been more modest and usually cash out if i win 5-10 x my deposite.

I usually cashout soon after my wagering met. I don't have a huge budget so using bonuses extend my gameplay. If I play on a straight deposit it would depend on how the session is going. If the wins are like pulling teeth I cash out with a little profit or just break even. If the slots are hot I will play them for a little longer until they cool then I cashout. BTW I dream of a cashout of 10K, in my years of slotting I haven't even come close. Still when I cashout without losing my initial deposit I consider that a win:thumbsup:

If I can even double my deposit, I'd be hitting that withdrawal button like my life depended on it. Suffice to say it's so hard to even get over my initial balance these days, let alone multiply my deposit by 5. The good thing about a budget is that it saves you from losing a crapload when the slots decide to turn nasty. The bad thing is these nasty patches are so frequent that being a slotslover, getting only 10 minutes playtime for $100 a week is just infuriating. I guess it's better than getting 5 of those 10 minutes 2x deposit rollover sessions which I've been having the past several months.

It took me a while to figure this out because at a land base casino I would just cash out a TITO after a big win place in wallet than put another $20 in however online its more of waiting til I make playthrough if I am using a bonus than if I am still up $100 (have to remember my bonus get deducted too) I cash out, but I am only depositing $25 on average each time so I am a low roller

I usually deposit €50 or 100 (500/1000 sek), and If I can double that it's a jolly good day. It do suck sometimes to have a 10 min playtime, but hey, how about those 5 hour sessions when you start to spend more time depositing than actually playing? Not for me thank you. BTW: I always wonder what kind of deposit's we're talking about when I see average betsizes around €10 per spin, feels like we live in different dimensions :D
