IATLD Site Hacked to promote casinos

Why not start a report hackers forum, where hackers sites are displayed and affiliates can submit spam reports.

We already have a spam reporting section, but it runs on the assumption that the programs involved will do something about it. This does not seem to be happening in this case. Of more use would be reports to entities that can make life hard for operators who don't make the effort to police their affiliates. This could get their domains blacklisted, or even have Google react by making it harder still for any kind of SEO for participants in this industry to be effective.

It may also be worth badgering the owners of affected sites to make their own reports, as they would carry more weight in terms of possible criminal proceedings, as it is THEIR property that has been violated. A report from a victim carries more weight than one from a third party that believes another party is a victim.

It's also hard to police, as it would depend on which country has jurisdiction over the case. These sites are Australian, so Australian law would be the obvious one to look at. If this was UK sites being hacked, it would be a criminal act, and would involve the police, with the hacker responsible facing charges under the relatively new "Computer misuse act". Before this, such matters were covered by civil law, meaning a webmaster had to sue the hacker for damages.

I very much doubt the parties responsible for this are in Australia, and are probably working from a country that does not have any criminal code covering this, which would mean webmasters having to find where they are, and suing in a foreign court. It is not going to happen. It is far more likely that the security industry will develop a defence against this, and then sell it to the affected webmasters, and others who don't want to be a victim in the future.

Sanctions would have to be taken against the brands being marketed in the hope that it will force them to act. The programs KNOW who is behind this, as they can track the traffic from the hacked sites to specific affiliate accounts. Anti Money Laundering laws would require them to know the legal entity they are paying for this traffic, and if nothing else, they can freeze those accounts so that no profit can come from this activity.

The brands themselves could also find themselves under fire from governments for failing to act. I am surprised that they seem in no hurry to deal with this incident, as governments will view the condoning of this kind of activity as a negative reflection on not just the brands involved, but this industry as a whole.

They may have picked Australia for this because as far as the Australian government is concerned, the whole activity is illegal unless an Australian license is held, but they know there is not much that can be done over enforcing this, so they mostly turn a blind eye. However, we already have some game developers that insist their games are not made available to Australian players as they fear this may damage their own reputation with the Australian government, harming other ventures they might want to pursue there.

We also have other game developers that have lists of countries where despite the government not really doing much in the way of enforcement, there is no legal recognition of online gambling as a legitimate activity, and so game developers don't want to sully their future chances by getting involved in a legal "grey area" in letting their branding be seen on games offered to players from such countries.

More on this over on Affiliate Guard Dog: Old / Expired Link

This time the domain that has been hijacked which is now displaying a 404 ( Presumably the owner is trying to fix the hack ) is digitalnow.com.au/‎

Why are the casinos not doing anything about this?? This is not the work of multiple people IMO. This is down to one or two individuals. The casinos being promoted would know exactly who is responsible.

The member Grumble over on AGD has got the affiliate tags for these casinos, these are:

Could the respective reps look into this please and lets us know the state of play. You obviously know who the affiliate is in question. What they are doing in this particular instance is criminal and not only do they need their accounts shut down, but I am sure the webmaster and owner of the affected site will want to know who is behind this.

Some affy tags were published here weeks ago, and so far no sign of any action from the casinos.

It's not the lack of affy tags that is holding things up.

I suspect they don't believe there is anything particularly wrong with what is being done, seeing it as merely some pretty clever SEO.

They may have decided that it is up to Google, not them, to ensure that this type of SEO cannot produce a false high ranking in search results.

There is one way to break the deadlock though. Find a site owner who will report this as a hack to their relevant authorities, and then obtain a court order forcing the program to reveal who is behind the offending tags so that they can be taken to court.

They are clever in hacking Aussie sites, rather than EU based ones, as this makes legal action much harder. If the hack was against an EU based site promoting an EU licensed casino, a legal, possibly criminal, remedy would be relatively easy at the European level due to a degree of cooperation between the governments and courts.

Getting this taken up as a criminal, rather than civil, matter means that the site owner does not face the risk and expense of a civil discovery and lawsuit.

Agreed and a lack of input to my question above will be very telling on all groups involved. Cutting to the chase, you don't see the likes of bet365, Ladbrokes or 32Red engage in or condone these activities.

If the casinos being promoted by this hacker or hackers do not take any action, then they themselves are condoning this activity. Of these groups, three of the four are accredited here and are eCOGRA certified as well as being Microgaming casinos. So I would hope they might do the right thing, although I guess getting traffic from these hacked sites and the $$ it brings might make it hard to do so.

So I found out from another forum who one of the guys are that's using blackhat methods to funnel traffic. I thought the guy is ethical but it seems like he went bad, his name is Chris Fenton, he runs .gamblinginsider.ca, lately he's been throwing a lot of one pager sites and redirects on the market. Most of his sites look the same, just to mention a few: canadaonlinecasinocasinos7.com/, canadaonlinecasinocasinos2.com/, canadaonlinecasinocasinos.com/ (and a bunch more) which all redirect to canadacasinoreview.com (one page site).

One of my my friends actually emailed him about it and the next day he removed his Google profile from the gamblinginsider.ca site as well as all the footers from his spammy sites (which stated gamblinginsider.ca).

Regards

great discovery... I wonder if Meister will bother asking WS why they are paying him to do black hat SEO for them as everyone knows that gamblinginsider.ca is actually a WS affiliate site.

I see WagerShare has targeted Germay with their hacking

All the sites that are being ranked in the cloaking have WS brands

I assume there is still no reply from them.

Yes they do. But seeing as the company behind Wagershare are first and foremost an SEO company ( According to the website for Win Technologies ), I would not be surprised if they had an indirect hand in this. At the very least they are condoning these activities, as they have the power to cut the head off the snake, by shutting this affiliate's account down.

Instead they allow him to continue to spam and hack sites, thus gaming the search engines and promoting their properties. Whilst withholding commissions legitimately earnt from webmasters such as myself.

BTW, the Palace Group hate the forums, both webmaster forums and player focused forums such as this one. I have been told this directly in an email from my old affiliate manager of Wagershare back in 2010.

So the chance of anyone from Wagershare even responding to this thread or any other is remote to say the least.

I followed this thread from the beginning but never spent time digging deeper yet.

When checking into all the indexed pages for accuratechemical.com in google I get a different picture from the cloaked sites.

I see a mix of Pharmacy and casino sites, linking to URLs like

buy-propecia24online.com
viagra-online-ed.com
and many more

and

online-casinobonusplay.com
online-casino-ltd.com
and many more

On the casino sites, I see primarily GrandParkerCasino, LocoPanda, Onbling, ClassyCoin, Play2Win, MonaCasino, Diceland, Rome (but no WS property for me)

The pharmacy stuff links through to secure-canadian-ds.net which is part of a network (IceRX) run from the Ukraine (see www.legitscript.com/pharmacy/secure-canadian-ds.net)

Interestingly the Revenuejet brands (as well as Affactive/GoldVIP) are also run from the Ukraine and known for their hardcore blackhat involvement.

This could be coincidence though, I have no further links or information. just thought to share my observations.
