I refuse to respond

Since I read it on facebook, I won't vouch for it's provenance:

But "not my monkeys, not my circus". seems to fit the theme.

One of the qualities that the people that are still my friends like is my ability to say no. You can ask me anything, I reserve the right to say no. You never have to second guess if I am resentful or too busy or wish I hadn't. If I say yes, I mean yes and if I say no I don't mean guilt or wheedle me into it.

If you are little practice in saying no, you should just do it sometimes for practice.

While people are sometimes miffed they didn't get their way, they usually take it pretty well.

Mostly nothing bad happens. Oh wait, sometimes people stop asking you to do things you don't want to do. Life is not without risks. Sometimes you get a whole two weeks before they get over being mad enough at you to ask you again.

Well I'm not sure I get this whole thread . . . but

:D

I watched about 3 minutes of the video but 1 was more than enough. The kid--for what he is doing--is good. Unfortunately, he gets on my nerves quickly. Perhaps this is because like Jasminebed, I'm closer to 100 than birth.

Anyway--like so many of your posts I couldn't agree more with your words. I just love reading so many of your practical, common sense, no nonsense, and matter of fact posts so much of the time. You are so adept at saying SO much with so few words. This is one of my favorites.

Second Edit: OK, I get it. 2 seconds of No. The kid that gets on my nerves is the video that plays afterwards. How obnoxious! The kid that is.:D

I found myself typing long responses several times and then deleting them. I'm not going to be baited into this stupidity :eek2:
No, No, No.......just keep telling myself that when I get the urge to start typing.

How great then, that you started your own thread too.

I promise I will read everything you write in here :p

I've done that a couple times myself recently. ;) First I write something, but before I post it I go downstairs or away from the computer for a bit. Then I come back and read what I wrote and ask myself, "Is it really worth it? I can say my piece and be drawn into an exchange that will change nothing. Or I can just shake my head, say F--- It and get on with my life."

Jeez, there's a lot of smart people in this thread! Maybe someday I'll learn too. My problem is that IRL if someone is being a douche I feel compelled to tell them so but if I can help them I'll try that too. But I'll do it in a fun, friendly way that usually makes a new friend for me. I am learning that does not always translate into words quite right.

Oh well, with each new day there is fresh hope.

Nothing wrong with that either John! As a matter of fact, I think that's what we like about you. I have a couple people that are in my life right now that would benefit from a fun friendly conversation (with a baseball bat) so personally I'm trying very hard not to add to my stress level by getting upset about stuff that I may not agree with but that really doesn't matter that much. In the grand scheme of things I mean. :)

Well I am not quite at that stage where I can say "no no no dont effing take the effing bait and get effing drawn into this effing nonsense"....yet.

But when I think how long my responses to whodatrec's "its rigged I tell ya!" claims were, I think I have made considerable progress, given my "somewhat lightweight contribution" to "Monsieur Jeanny Obtenu Le Bon's" thread.

IF ONLY I HAD A PROVEN SYSTEM to help me resist the urge to chime in when it's not really necessary.....

OOPS  :p

To be honest I haven't even read that whole thread, I only chime in when I see something in the what's new section and have something positive to say.

My motto for the month: "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothin' at all" - Thumper

It's sure quiet at my house..... :eek2:

So all this time I've had it so wrong.

My mother always said, if you have nothing nice to say, say it in Italian. :(

Maybe I'll try Chayton's version, lol.

Thanks for that post

I really need to do that too. So far I've started writing 3 posts today but have changed my mind before I pushed the button.
I don't need to get down to that kind of low level. I don't need to get any kind of revenge. I'm better than that.

I too will have that motto, at least today ;)

That is exactly what was going through my mind as I was creating this thread. I had nothing positive or constructive to add, so I just went off in my own corner and yelled as loud as I could to let the frustration out :)

Looking around, I'd have to say there's at least 165 others who feel the same way Googobucs .... not including those of us who surf in stealth mode.
