with casinos when trying to cash out, when they have played their games elsewhere (using someone's elses ISP). Is this really a problem?

I had an idea the other day (which at the time I thought was a great idea) was to transfer all my casinos onto an external hard drive and then I could cart them around with me. Man that sounds bad:oops::lolup::lolsign::lolup:

Therefore when Im at someone's house or even out of town, I can just hook my external drive up on their computer and play whenever and where ever. Well that was the idea:cool:

And of course, it will free up some space on my PC which is overloaded with casinos:lolsign:

So would things really get complicated if I actually won on my travels and I had played the casino games elsewhere:confused:

Just wondering :)

A few casinos will allow you to play somewhere else, but not all of them.
The best thing you can do is ask them first. If they say it's okey then you know it.

When I went to Holland last summer I only asked support at 32Red if it was okey.
They said it was okey, but after a week I got a mail from them asking if it was really me playing:p
I said yes, so no problem.

Just be careful. At Rival you could get a bann all over their software, and at Rushmore you can't even log in. So it's different at different casinos.

hmmm interesting. But good idea! Ask on their support first if ok:thumbsup: I will keep that in mind. Thank you :)

My computer and Internet are slow as heck, so I would hate to re download all my casinos on to my external hard drive, and then find out, thats its just going to cause major issues if I play elsewhere and not really worth the bother so best to ask ahead:thumbsup: I should probably hit them all up now! :D

Yes it can cause problems playing from a different location other than your usual. You could always clear it with the casino before you play to be on the safe side.

Also IP addresses are given out by your ISP and it's not something that remains on your hard drive so carting around a hard drive has nothing to do with an IP address.

Here is some info on IP's and what they are.
You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.

You havn't thought of the fact that your PC might be slow
because of all the casinos you have on it?:p

Well I thought that playing elsewhere would mean I would need to use someones elses ISP which of course would allot me a totally different IP address, however I was just wondering if it would cause problems:confused:

Heres an interesting thought. What if you went to a Internet Cafe, and played the flash casino version in there? Actually what happens if you created your Casino account at the Internet cafe? Then you wouldnt have a static IP address:confused: Well ok thats just a theory but how would a casino know what your main IP address is if you did create your account at a Internet Cafe?

Ok, Im not very technical so lots of guess work here and probably explaining it all wrong:D

It did occur to me :lolsign: thats the main reason I want to transfer them to an external hard drive:p They're taking up too much space and use too much of my pcs resources. Doesnt help my computer is as old as the hills:oops:

I have played hooked up via my home connection, a portable aircard, and a hospital internet connection with no problems. I have downloaded the casinos on a thumb drive and played on different computers.

However, each and every time I am not playing from my regular home connection, I contact customer service via the website before ever logging in and let them know what is going on.

I do it before logging in because that way if they say there will be a problem, I haven't really done anything cause I haven't logged in.

I don't think you will have a problem if you ask first before you do anything.

Basically what is said is the best way to go, mainly ask the CS or your vip manager if it;s ok and then youll know.
About the technicalities if using a static ip or not etc, i wouldn't know but if your just looking to play from different places,
which i do regularly, just ask!
I know for a fact that with 3Dice, and 32Red, it's no problem as long as you ask:)

+ iPad, online, mobile phone, while I am at work, seminar, family holiday ( yes I am addicted) ... It's normally my regulars like Bellerock casinos, Nordicbet and Royal Vegas. I won big chunks from the Gaming Club and Jackpotcity while on holidays. The MG network has a lot of the slots available online now (non download version) ...has come a long way since I started.

Having said that, what anniemac said also:

One problem I had was I got locked out when I was trying to login from my lounge room computer but forgot I was still logged in my studio computer upstairs. Make sure you log off if you are using multiple computers from the same IP.

This is why I get annoyed, my brother comes into my home, when alot of the time, I'm out shopping, he uses my comp to log into his account, he hasn't been able to this last while as I have uninstalled the casino which him and I play at. He lives at a different address to me, and he uses his own pc to play most of the time, but when I have downloaded my fav casino, I have came home sometimes to find that he has played using my account, I will be taking preventative measures to ensure this does not happen again, I will not be telling my pc to remember my password grrr, this really gets to me, I'm sick and bloody tired of people trying to be the boss of me , this is not directed at anyone here, it's real life dramas

It's a load of BS. Most ISPs don't allocate IP addresses to a specific customer, there just aren't enough to go around. Most allocate them dynamically when the internet connection is turned on, from a range held by a local hub. Even mid session, it is possible that the IP address will change because the ISP is continually reconfiguring itself, and a momentary drop of the connection, or even expiry of an IP address lease, could have the modem request a reconnect right away, which could be a different IP address in the local range. Even working out the country of a player from the IP address is not perfect. It relies on a database being kept up to date by ISPs when they receive a fresh allocation of IP addresses, or when they move a range they already have to a different server.

This was demonstrated when MGS tried to block all Kentucky players based on IP address. Some players from Kentucky could still play, and some in bordering states were wrongly locked out.

If they were so worried about players playing other than at home, why have they brought out mobile casinos?

It is all very well saying players should ask first, but it shouldn't be up to players to take the chance that CS will say it's OK, but another department will later say it isn't when they win. On top of this, there is no consistent approach within the industry, whereas players can take it for granted that they can play on their PC at home on their own connection without having to keep asking CS if there might be a problem.

In that case you will have to found out wich casinos he had played on. If he had played a single little free chip from his own account or anything with a bonus in it, the casinos have every right to deny you your winning.
It has happened to me and I can assure you that it's not nice to found out when you finally win and tries to cashout.
Contact the casinos and get it in typing so you know you are good to go.

No he logged on to my account and played the freeroll tourney, but he won't be doing it again ;), as I have said, I uninstalled the casino, he doesn't have my password, when I do re-install it again, I will not be having my comp remember the password

Oooooh....This is getting into a real grey area ... I would not be happy with any of my family members using my account whether it's free roll or not. Would you give your brother your credit card and tell him the pin ? ... It's exactly the same scenario because it is real money .... If anything happens (not saying your brother would) ... You wouldn't have a leg to stand on .... It's your account and your responsibility.

Solution: (if your family members do need to use your computer)

Create 2 user logins.
You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.
(if it's win7 or google your platform)

1 administrator level login with all your stuff password protected and you don't even give this to your imaginary friends.

2nd one with a general login where anyone can go in anytime they please.

Done! Now you are safe and anyone can use your computer without being able to use your accounts, access etc.

Good Luck :)

I would NOT sign up for anything new at other than my home. Student dorms, internet cafes, the library or hotels may well have had someone signup in the past.

Existing accounts, I've just let them know, and it's never been an issue. I've usually only let them know once, the away places I play are limited. After all, we live in a mobile society.

Most times it's account creation that's the issue. While a change in IP might raise a red flag, I think it could usually be sorted. I do recall one player having an account locked when he attempted a log in from a hotel while travelling (and that was within the US for a US player quite a while ago). I don't think the issue was resolved, but there was no funds involved.

I'd also be very cautious when making deposits from public places, security is not as high.

A quick conversation with live chat to let them know it's you and you are not at home won't take long to get a green light. The casino cannot win if we do not play.

Of course, my advice only applies to accredited casinos, who can be counted on to cooperate should a PAB be necessary.

I travel a lot, and I've never had any problem with using hotells internet:confused:

Whats funny is i have also played durring a very long buss route (on this buss tour i won 4000$ with 25dollar depo!) and on a PLANE! lmao

in may i will be in 11 diffrent citys, so maybe i should ask the support and let them know?

I think you can log in from anywhere you want as long as you lose. In fact I can almost guarantee if the software doesn't block you from logging in and you lose your deposit the casino will tell you everything is great. Carry on.

Seriously though, in a perfect world all online casinos would have the ability to contact a player in real time such as a pop up chat box and a secondary password that's not used to log on should be recorded in your file.

That way if there's any suspicion a CSW can easily pop a box up and say "Password, please."
And you would type "smellycat."
And they would type "Thanks, have fun!"

IP problem solved. Who cares where you're sitting as long as it's the owner of the account playing?
Besides, it's pretty obvious from this thread alone that an IP address does not prove you're the real account holder.

You want to make absolutely sure that your friends do not play at the same casinos as you do, should you sign in from a friend's house.

As jasminebed said above, public locations can cause an issue.

The issues seem to come from how seriously the casinos take the possibility of 'Team Fraud' where a group of people work together to defraud the casino out of money or some other such thing.

As a note, you'll still leave a trail of where you've played- not just on the servers of the casinos you play, but in the form of cookies and registry entries on any other computer you use. So- if your friends are gamblers as well, it could cause issues for them in the future.

And, as others have said- check with the casino. Some casinos may not allow you to gamble from certain places in the world, even if you are normally living in another region.

And, above all, get it in writing from them. Just in case the worst happens.

All advice that's been given again and again, I know.... But good advice non the less!

Best of luck!

As far as I know most peoples ip addresses change on a fairly frequent basis anyway, at least in part. It costs a lot or at least more to have a static ip address installed at your home or business. If i turn my router on and off my ip is always different and again different again if i reset once more and so on.

Some interesting points regarding IP addresses - Dynamic and Static (for those using Dynamic IP`s this could explain why you disconnect a lot).....

Dynamic IP vs Static IP

Static IP addressing is for one customer on one IP address and Dynamic IP addressing assigns a different IP address each time the ISP customer logs on to their computer, but this is dependent upon the Internet Service Provider (ISP) because some ISP's only change the IP address as they deem it necessary.

If you have Dynamic IP Addressing through your Website Host it means that you are sharing an IP Address with several other customers.

If you are a beginner on the internet, an avid internet user, are entertaining the thought of starting your own website business, are a gamer, use VOIP or VPN there are several things you should know about IP Addressing.
Static IP Addressing

If you feel the need to always know what your IP address is then you need a Static IP address, because it is constant. Static IP addresses are more reliable for Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP), more reliable to host a gaming website or to play X-Box, Play Station, use Virtual Private Network for secure access to files from your company network computer, etc. Static IP addresses are also great if you use your computer as a server, as it should give your file server faster file uploads and downloads. Another plus with Static IP's, when hosting a website you are not sharing your IP with another company who sends out a lot of E-mail SPAM and not only has their website been shut down but in turn gets your IP address blacklisted.

In contrast a static IP address can become a security risk, because the address is always the same. Static IP's are easier to track for data mining companies. Static IP addressing is less cost effective than Dynamic IP Addressing.
Dynamic IP Addressing

The biggest advantages of Dynamic IP Addressing are less security risk as the computer is assigned a new IP address each time the customer logs on, they are cost effective and there is automatic network configuration (the less human intervention with network configuration the better). Dynamic addressing is usually used by ISP's so that one IP address can be assigned to several users, however some ISP's use Sticky Dynamic IP Addressing and do not change the IP address very often. Dynamic IP Addressing can be used by families with several computers or by a small business owner who has a home office. The software that comes with a router allows for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) setup and assigns each computer attached to the router an IP address automatically.

In contrast, Dynamic IP addressing should not be used for VOIP, VPN, playing online games or game hosting because Dynamic IP addressing is less reliable then Static IP addressing and could cause the service to disconnect while you are on a VOIP, VPN or gaming.

If you want to change a static IP address for any reason do this start>run>type cmd, when the command prompt window opens type in ipconfig /all, see when the lease expires on your IP, when it is nearing it`s end open the command prompt window again type ipconfig /all then type ipconfig /release, turn your PC off for several hours and hopefully someone else will now have the lease and you will get another one. Your ISP`s are very reluctant in changing a static IP no matter what the reason.
