Once a wealthy fishing town it has now high unemployment, social issues and decay. In these areas you do tend to find a lot of unhealthy, unemployed(able) benefits-dependent porkers. And football hooliganism.

Head east from KK's town, follow the coast of Sussex, Kent, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and South Lincolnshire and you'll get to Grimsby. Quite a long walk, so he's safe from these monsters. Until his local council starts taking in 'benefits tourists' like Hastings....
