I’m a Casino Games Developer – Ask Me Anything! 🎰🎲

any opinion on what would you love to see on scratchcards from slots users would be really appreciate. we are building the games for you guys

Thank you :)

Personally, I was a gamer before I was a gambler lol and I know some games I played for 1000s of hours just because of the story and the quests. Even when I finished the game I would replay to find ALL the quests.

To be 100% honest most of them were not even skill, just time. As in, the more you play, the more you collect, the more you unlock etc etc. People would play 1000s of hours to get every quest completed or collectible. Slots is missing a big psychology of gameplay here :)
that is a really good feedback. i really appreciate it. we will for sure add some of it to our scratchcards, as for now we are focused on that

I’ve just had four features on Fishin frenzy at 40p in the space of ten minutes. One four scatters so 45 spins in total. I made less than a tenner. I counted four fisherman wilds drop down, two of them with no fish. That’s one every 11 spins.

How do developers get away with it? It’s incredibly difficult usually to hit a feature game, it’s not unheard of for me to have 200 spins and spend £100 before I hit three scatters. To then win 80 pence on a feature.

Why is it allowed? Should there be some kind of guaranteed win on these features? For example the big bass games always seem to pay AT LEAST 10x.
It depends on the casino to be honest. depends on the provider but there are many parameters that can be adjusted that will change the game behaviour, for example rtp and game configs for bonus, feature, etc. which casino are you using?

Hello.
Why don't game developers use numerical values to measure volatility? Instead of providing specific standard deviation or variance figures, they typically just label games as high volatility, low volatility, or medium volatility...
because it is simpler for the average joe, thats why, not more than that. there are not that many technical / knowledgable people. they just dont care

Thanks for the reply. It doesn’t sound very convincing, to be honest. I agree that people tend to oversimplify things, but I don’t think it’s that hard to also include a numerical value for those who care.

I honestly don’t understand who first thought it made sense to describe a number using an adjective. Imagine if, during a job interview, someone offered you a “high salary” instead of giving you an actual number.

What happened to originality, why if one game does 3 pots so they all start doing it?

Surely as a developer you should want to be original not just "oh look they made a game with 3 pots or fishing I must do it".

It is so annoying when you open a new game and see they have just copied the theme of another.

I know a ton of people despise the 3 pot slot genre, but to be honest, I haven't seen many games being created with this design online. I mean, yeah there's a few.. but no where near the amount that's being currently peddled in brick & mortar casinos. As a side note, the old ladies with the long cigarettes that touch and pound on the screen for luck seem to gravitate towards those 3 pot slots and appear to enjoy them.

Look again, there are dozens of them!

I did just this and you're right. I counted at least 11 of them. I think Pragmatic made like 3 different variations of the 3 pot style mechanic in the past month. Haha

I just usually stick to my top 15 slots and very rarely stray away from them.

Thanks for the responses and look forward to your first developed scratchcards. How will they look different? Actually never done an online scratch before. They're not really popular in Asia. We have a lottery type scratchcard, the lottery is the main event, and there's a small attachment to it you scratch but the biggest prize is a car. Nobody takes it seriously, just to 'win' the price of the ticket back (which is what they'll offer you if you redeem the prize).

Can you share some example? sounds really interesting. What do you mean by 'lottery scratchcard' ? like lottery themed? ours look like this now:
You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.

this is just a demo. not in production yet.
they will look really similar to slots in terms of animations, they will have a character that makes faces when you scratch, and more features similar to slots.
any input from a player will be appreciated of course, as it will improve the game.

This is an example. I was referring to a real life lottery.

So on the left is the main lottery ticket with the big jackpot on the draw. On the right is a scratch card to also win instant prizes.

You kinda buying a 2-in-1 scratch + lottery.
