How satisfied are you with mobile games? For a few years, a number of industry folk felt that mobile games will be dominating the online gaming environment - but I'm not so sure. What is your experience with this?

This includes iPads, tablets, iPods, everything besides you desktop or laptop.

If you are playing on these platforms, why? If not, why not?

I play mobile slot games from time to time. It's easy and my android phone is with me all day. The selection is bad but some games are good. Both MGS and NetEnt have some machines I can stand to use when I'm not at home and have to kill time. :)

ipad's are considered mobile devices. :D

yes, but i mean mobile games..the service offered in stardard browser with limited choices, not mobile device :D I don't like 'mobile games' as offered, but will play on my 'mobile device' as i would off my pc

I don't find the controls very ergonomic for the most part. Even simple things like Poker have buttons too small, which may mean I am just ham-fisted.

I am an avid PC gamer and user however, so it is also down to the question "Why play lower quality games on a mobile device, when I have a relatively powerful PC and 2 24" monitors?"

My answer is that I typically dont, as I will only tend to "play" at home.

I assume this some kind of social/mobile casino gamer research?

Anyhow, hope that helped.

I play but there is a lot of room for improvement and I agree with Dionysus not enough choice at the moment so I usually revert to PC/Laptop.

Microgaming and Net Ent are the best although no Autoplay on MG is a pita. Viaden is decent but lacks choice and the spinning motion is a bit crap. IGT work OK but look a bit dated. Playtech's implementation is f*cked up.

Early days though - in a year or so I reckon I'll be playing on tablet more than laptop/PC.

Sorry, just to add something here:

Mobile games will dominate the market is my belief, but not because they are mobile as such. They will dominate because the line between mobile and PC is fast becoming non-existent, with devices being as powerful as an average PC was a couple of years ago.

This means they can access the same quality content that a PC user can and I believe this trend will continue, with more and more services becoming "platform agnostic".

So I guess my summary is that mobile gaming will be big, but only because online gaming is massive and evolving to suit the technological advancement, not because of the nature of being able to game on the go. This means companies can get in there, do branding, PR, build up their userbase and do a staggered release of content that is steadily more demanding and opens up more opportunities for the companies to convert and cross sell to their players.

My 2nd 2 cents anyway ;)

predominantly, my ipad is for reading in bed and email checks or quick surfs; if im hogging the pc or the bf is, one will use the ipad
but, there's nifty lil bed stand i saw, like an overhead docking station lol; if games were full selection at MG i might play in bed, but ya, until then (and the screen a bit bigger) its the pc.

I think netents mobile platform is really good. I enjoy playing it really much and sometimes even choose it rather then playing with my laptop. You can allso find allmost all the options from the mobile platform, that you need.
MGS is coming a little behind, with the game selections and they dont have for example autoplay, wich netent has implied.

One really annoying thing with both of the platform is, that you are unable to choose your betlines. This is extremely annoying if you want to make sure you wont have a bonus carry-over and play your balance to 0,00€. You are unable to do so.

But if I am taking a big bonus and looking for extended playing session, Ill rather go with my computer (this is allso because my android phone battery will last about an hour with netent :p).

Yes! This! Definitely annoying @ 32Red mobile. You can get round it @ Mr Green by playing the 'Mr Vegas' and 'Slotfather' type slots - but it's a bit of a palaver.

I agree but also that they will cease to be referred to as mobile games as a result and it will all blend into one.

Ill allso note that earlier version of MGS mobile games allowed you to change bet lines. But the new upgraded (HD) version dont have this option :what:.

To be honest i think were quite a few years away yet from any mobile device being a pc`s equal. Sure mobile platforms are fairly powerful today but not on a pc`s level, not even a low end budget one. Of course lots of power and resources probably wont be needed to play mobile casinos or slots as even a budget pc can play them with ease. Where the mobile gaming currently lets itself down imo is as others have pointed out the complete lack of choice and options and with Mg the lack of an auto play feature. As it currently is its ok to while away a half hour on the train or wherever but it quickle becomes tedious for anything longer. In my view its a stop gap for people wishing to play who dont have access to a pc or laptop at that time. this may change in the years to come but for now its nothing but a party filler.

Fully agree on this one. In the near future many, if not all, games will run on both mobile and pc.

ive only dabbled with them on an ipod, the selection of games wasnt great so id rather have the pc experience, i also think its a little worrying with a mobile device having a casino in your pocket 24/7, the temptation to just have a play increases, well it would if my phone could run any of the mobile games :)

Agreed, but I think there will still be some distinction if only for product distribution and advertising, but it will based on where you are using the device and what you are using it for rather than focusing on the inherent capabilities of said device, which is how I perceive it currently ("you can play X on your phone!!11")

So I am thinking that "mobile" will become any content you consume whilst on the move (so not requiring a lot of time/effort/resource) and will be targeted towards small, easy purchases that you do not need to do any financial balancing for. This seems to make sense to me as it relevant/aligned with the current and emerging lifestyle of the upcoming generations who are very much into the regular and repeated digital purchases of software/hardware etc and typically consume content such as news, media and social media.

I have yet to meet someone who purchased a new car online, via their mobile after all.

As I say to a lot of people, mobile will be big, as will social, but they are almost the same thing or will be in the next 5-10 years at least.

Edit: Just thought I would mention that I am a PC fan. Before consoles, mobiles, tablets and especially Apple products ;) But I can see the potential in them at least.

Without a doubt, the future is mobile/tablet gaming. Will be interesting to see how much focus the main software houses give to mobile product development, or whether they focus on buying up the smaller mobile gaming houses as Playtech did with Viaden.

Incidently, has anyone tried out Jack Gold Casino on the iPad? Looks like a decent product.

Huge New Market

The advent of the new smart phone and other mobile devices has opened up a whole new market on the internet. Previously not everybody had easy and confidential access to a PC which could allow them to do what ever they wanted, when they wanted. Now with their own smartphone they have internet access and can do as they please.

If you don't know any better then casino games on an iPhone or Samsung S3 won't seem like such a drag.

they are no good

on smaller phones hard to even change the bets

like all other stuuf in mobile, these games are like they are from somewhere else, like bunch of idiots made them....
